A New Life for Dr. Mitchel Ch. 06

As with previous chapters of the story of Dr. Mitchel I'd like to start with a heartfelt THANK YOU! To RecHiker! He edited this chapter, inspired me, and has helped me stay focused. He's taken time from his BUSY schedule to advise me, and edit this chapter.
I'd also like to thank RecHiker for allowing me to insert my characters into his story, The Morrisons. And for allowing me to borrow some of his characters to insert in mine. It's actually a lot of fun to exchange events, and blend dialog between both stories. THANKS, RecHiker!

One more note of recognition. Congratulations RecHiker! After dropping out of high school and taking a few years to tour the little country of Vietnam, with some of our country's super heroes, RecHiker graduated from high school, with his granddaughter, after a forty-six year delay, on June 28, 2014. Oh, I also want to add, he completed all the qualifications for a GED in '84 and graduated from college with honors in '96. Thanks for your service RecHiker, and congratulations! I also want to say Thank you to my readers. Thank you even more to the readers who like the story and go to the trouble to tell me. Feedback is a great motivator. Knowing someone liked what I've written helps me want to continue. Also thank you to the readers who send constructive criticism. Writing to me and calling me names does nothing to improve the storyline or the writing.

If you are looking for a story with quick, dirty, irresponsible, sexual encounters, this is not for you. This story is about loving relationships, and builds the characters in what I consider to be safe, loving situations. It does contain descriptions of graphic sexual encounters. Some of these are faded memories of certain portions of misspent youthful encounters. Others are complete fantasies and wishful thinking. All are intended to be entertaining.

I readily admit to being an amateur, and I write mostly for my own entertainment. Believe me when I tell you I sometimes entertain myself way more than I should. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff that gets edited out. Thank God for the delete button. I'm old enough to remember typewriters, carbon paper, and white-out. I wouldn't do this under those conditions. I've even owned an IBM Selectric, and a Xerox Memorywriter.... With either of them this story would not exist.

This story, the characters in it, the events described, and the activities of the characters are all figments of the imagination of the author. Any resemblance to real life, or actual people, is strictly coincidental. Some of the locations mentioned do in fact exist, and most of the inanimate objects are real.

The characters that are involved with sexual encounters are/will be adults, and capable of making responsible decisions.

Please take the time to rate the story. If you like the story, give it five stars. If you just want to make my day that's OK too. I like five star ratings, and positive feedback.

I hope you enjoy this chapter.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marshall Mitchel woke up with a strong feeling of home. Home, not because of the location, though that was a small part of it. More significant was the feeling of love. Not something someone was saying, but the sensation of being engulfed in it. Real love. The closeness of the two women that were lying beside him, Patricia Turner and Rebecca Andrews. Again, not just the physical closeness, but the tightness of the emotional bond.
Marsh felt a slight pang of guilt, as he thought about Trish's other daughter and granddaughter. They had given his life meaning four years ago. Their loss had turned him in a direction he had not even known existed. Today he had a nickname, The Killer Doc.
"The Killer Doc" had not been in existence while Becky and Elise had lived. He had been born of the intense grief that had come from the senseless waste of the two lives that meant so much to Marsh four years ago.
Becca took a deep breath, and the hand that was on Marsh's chest moved. Only a half inch or less, but enough to bring Marsh's thoughts back to the present.
Trish and Becca had broken up the dark cloud that had been the spawning ground for The Killer Doc. Marsh knew that he would always be able to kill again, as he did at the Best Western, but he didn't feel the same evil in his soul. Marsh marveled at the soothing effect of the love he had experienced in the last two weeks. Two weeks ago he had gotten up as soon as he awoke and gone out to run in the forest, to soothe his soul. The love of these two beautiful women was now just what he needed.
Marsh closed his eyes and took in the scent of the women. Becca's shampoo and conditioner was scented with lilac and lavender. Trish's was a rich strawberries and cream. They were both very subtle, but a pleasure to the senses.
Marsh could also smell the forest outside his open window. And hear the distant sound of the stream on the property, and the nearer sound of birds in the trees around the house. Marsh felt immersed in warmth and beauty.
In the four years on the mountain, Marsh had trained his senses to be keenly aware of his surroundings. That awareness was augmented by the senses of his canine companion, and had been a life saver on several occasions. This morning they were serving Marsh a double portion of pleasurable sensations.
Marsh heard Wolf rolling and stretching. He knew it would only be a matter of seconds until the big canine would get up and come to the side of the bed to get someone's attention, and Marsh decided he was not up to the beating he'd likely get from Becca if Wolf woke her the way he had before. He thought maybe the best way to avoid that was to move about a little and wake his female companions himself.
Since both of his arms were under a ladies shoulders, (one on each side) he just tightened his grip on each of them and softly spoke their names. Trish woke up first, and responded to Marsh's call by stretching toward him and kissing him, first on the cheek, then a warm kiss on the lips. "Mmmmm", she hummed. "What a pleasant way to wake up after having been put to sleep so nicely. I sure hope I get to do this a lot more times in my lifetime."
Marsh smiled at the beautiful redhead. "I can't think of any reason you should not."
After a slight stir from Marsh's other side, a sleepy voice asked, "Can I have some of that too, momma?
Marsh quickly turned his face to the other side. "Absolutely! When I started this little group thing I distinctly remember that I had two gorgeous ladies say that they were willing to share." With that Marsh kissed Becca a couple of times, too.
Wolf had listened to the human interactions long enough. From standing at the end of the bed, he took a leap onto the foot of the mattress, and walked up to lick first Marsh's face, then both of the ladies. "Good morning to you too." Marsh said to the dog as he reached up with both hands and scratched both sides of Wolf's neck. "I bet you think we should get up and let you out, eh? At least you didn't scare the pee out of the ladies this morning. We'll have to give you some credit, right ladies?"
Trish and Becca both laughed. "He's really not such a bad guy after all, is he?" Trish asked as she reached up and stroked Wolf's head.
Becca groaned something unintelligible.
"Just remember, both of you, I wouldn't be here if that mutt hadn't saved my bacon a few times." Marsh told them. "And he sure was instrumental in a little event at the hotel earlier this week. I'm sure glad he was there to help me take out those goons that were after you, Trish."
"I know you're right Marsh," Becca replied. "I just wish he'd warn me before he plants that freezing nose of his on my skin." Becca was laughing as she finished her complaint. "Or maybe I'll just have to get used to it. He really is a good companion. He took great care of me when you were gone."
Trish was smiling and spoke up when Becca was finished. "You're so right Marsh. That dog was like super dog or something. He came over that desk and took out his target with precision. If I'd been not quite so scared I think it would have been a thing of beauty to watch. I can say with assurance, if it hadn't been for you and Wolf, I'd be dead now. Thank you both! Now let's get out of this bed, and get to the bathroom," she said as she moved to the edge of the mattress. "I don't want to soil the linens."
Becca rolled out on one side of the bed, and Trish rolled out on the other. Becca went straight to the back bathroom. Trish headed to the front one, and Marsh and Wolf went down the stairs so Marsh could let Wolf out the side door. Wolf headed for the tree line, and Marsh went into the bathroom in his office.
Within just a few minutes all three of them met again in the front bathroom in their bedroom and they each brushed their teeth and got into the shower together. There was some playing around, as well as everybody taking turns washing each other, and then they turned off the water and dried each other.
Trish paused and looked at Marsh and Becca. "I have no idea how or why I got so lucky, or you might say blessed. I had a pretty rotten childhood and adolescence, but between the two of you and my real father, I sure ended up with a super great family. I love y'all so much I think my heart will explode sometimes."
Marsh reached out and pulled Trish and Becca into a bear hug. "This morning just before I woke you two, I was having very similar thoughts. For the last four years there has been a really dark cloud over and around my soul. During that time that cloud spawned the man that earned the name "Killer Doc". I'm pretty sure I'll never live that name down, but I'm not the same man as he was now. You two killed him off. I'll never be the gentle giant I was before Becky and Elise were killed, but I don't need to seek retribution any more. There's a peace in my soul now that wasn't there two weeks ago. I'm going to try to cultivate that peace, and with you two beside me, we can maybe make our little corner of the world a better place. Let's get ourselves dressed for public scrutiny and get down to the helo before we get Jimmy on our case. We've got about twenty minutes to spare at this time. Wouldn't it be nice to be the first ones there?"
Right then, Becca's phone rang with a priority ring she had set. She walked to the bedside table and picked it up. As she answered it she sat on the side of the bed.
Marsh and Trish stood in the doorway to closet and just held each other. It was really nice to have a quiet moment with someone you love deeply.
Becca conversed with someone for just a few minutes then joined them in a three way hug for a couple of minutes.
They all moved over into the closet and selected appropriate work-day attire. While they were getting dressed Becca told them about the phone call. Joanna had called to ask Judy/Becca to meet with her as well as Dan, Ted, and Mary, this evening at 1830, out by the waterfall on Dan's estate.
Marsh chose a pair of jeans, a western shirt, and a pair boots. Trish picked out a skirt and blouse, and slipped on a nice pair of two inch pumps. Becca wrapped herself in a jump/flight suit that fit her really nice. She laced up a pair of light weight desert boots. All three finished dressing about the same time, and they headed down to the hanger, with Wolf loping along beside the Gator.
Jimmy was just coming down the steps off of his porch when the Gator stopped beside the hanger. He got to the helo in time to help Marsh roll it out to the pad. Marsh and Becca did a preflight inspection. Marsh even grabbed a step ladder and checked the main rotor blades for nicks or cracks. As he expected there were none.
Sue and Jenni came out of Jimmy's house and down the porch steps just a minute before Rick and Marguarita arrived in the Cobra. Rick drove straight into the hanger to park the classic, and nobody seemed the least bit surprised.
Everyone said good morning to each other and hugs and kisses were freely exchanged, as everyone got in the helicopter and buckled up. Wolf was included, and Marsh snapped his flight harness into one of the floor rings that hold the seat belts down.
Becca and Marsh went through the pre-start checklist, and then Becca spooled up the turbines, checked all the flight instruments, and lifted off. The flight out to The Hole was very short, and Jimmy took the time to explain that even though they had a very short flight, he would make up for it after breakfast, with the tour he had planned.
The parking lot at The Hole had quite a few motorcycles, and several dozen cars and trucks. On one side of the building there was a very large helipad, and the 230 was the fourth helicopter to arrive. There was already a Huey, a Bell 412, and a Super Cobra gunship. Becca put the 230 down at the front of the pad, and shut it down. The turbines had barely even gotten warm, so a cool down was not necessary. There were a couple of guys sitting in the doorway of the Huey that were dressed in tactical gear, complete with what Marsh recognized as AR-10 rifles. Marsh was pretty sure nobody would get a chance to mess around with any of the helicopters.
Everyone climbed out of the helo, and Becca stepped over and spoke to the security guards in the Huey. She called Marsh over and introduced Marsh to the two men. Pleasantries were exchanged and Marsh introduced Wolf.
One of the guards looked Wolf over and looked from Marsh to Becca. "So let me guess, the old man brought in a personal bodyguard for his favorite pilot, and he just happens to be a K-9 handler as well." Marsh could hear the laughter in the man's voice, and knew he meant no offense.
The other man laughed and retorted. "Tom, you know the Widow Maker don't need no bodyguards. The new guy is probably her new boy-toy, and the K-9 is around to keep him in line."
All four of them laughed at that one, and Becca took over. "Gentlemen, Let me start over. I'd like you to meet the new CEO of the Turner Companies, Dr. Marshall Mitchel. If you don't recognize him by that name, let me introduce my fiancé aka The Killer Doc. He's only killed three men since Sunday, and the K-9 has killed one. He had my six on Monday night, when the Butcher was in town. You're welcome to try him out, but don't say nobody warned you. You'll both end up in the hospital like the Butchers crew did."
Tom stood up and stepped up to Marsh with his hand extended to shake hands. I'm pleased to meet you boss. Doug told us about you. You like to work in a team, and you're a stand up partner. He said you took a blade covering Becca's six, and finished the operation on your feet. I hope I get to work with you sometime."
Becca laughed. "Yeah, he wouldn't have had to take the blade if he would have just moved out of the way when I was throwing out the trash."
Ralph, the other guard, looked at Becca and replied, "Way I heard it he was neutralizing some goon with a KaBar that was working on a plan for carving up your backside. I heard he's hell on kitchen cabinets and counter tops."
Marsh laughed and said, "So I guess that means you're not going to invite me over to cook you your supper, eh? Oh well, you'd probably get food poisoning from anything I made in your kitchen anyway. Speaking of kitchens, Becca let's go in this fine establishment and see what they can cook up for breakfast. I think we should eat that before lunch time."
Marsh turned and took Becca's hand. "I 'spect we'll see you guys on the turn around. Stay safe out here." He told the guards. "Maybe we'll work together some time."
Marsh and Becca walked to the door of The Hole. Marsh spoke to Wolf as he opened the door. "Come on in buddy. You're welcome in here with us, but you probably better stay out of the kitchen. A lot of chefs aren't very understanding about things like having dogs in their kitchen."
Marsh held the door open for Becca and Wolf, and then followed them in. He noticed that the main entry doors, one of which he had just held open and walked through, were single slabs of solid oak. As he stepped into the room Marsh's view went straight to the bar. It was eight feet from the outside wall he had just come through, and there was a bat-wing door on Marsh's right that entered behind the bar. The bar top was another piece of amazing beauty. It was also one piece of solid oak. On the end nearest Marsh and Becca the bar was close to three and a half feet wide. It was at least thirty five feet long. Marsh actually guessed closer to forty. On the far end, there was about a nine foot return to the right. Marsh figured out that whoever had built this had cut down and milled an oak tree that was forty feet from the ground to the first branch. The bar was still nearly three feet wide on the other end, and the branch that had made the return was at least two feet wide at the "trunk", and the return was still over a foot wide where it ended nine-ish feet from the front of the bar. The top of the bar had been sanded and finished with a clear epoxy/resin finish, and it was BEAUTIFUL!
Marsh stood with his mouth open and his jaw nearly dropped to the floor. That piece of timber was immense, and beautiful, and amazing, and impressive and a few more words Marsh just couldn't think of at the moment. Marsh quickly realized that the building had to have been built around the bar, or someone had to have driven a semi-truck through the building to unload it in place. Either way it was a very handsome labor of love.
When Marsh could pry his sight away from the bar, he noted that all of the tables in the restaurant were also solid oak. On the far side of the building, to the right, there was a hallway that probably went back to the restrooms, and Marsh guessed there were a couple of private banquet/meeting rooms. Along the far wall and to the left there was a small stage with a couple of microphone stands and there was one microphone that was in use as Marsh and Becca entered.
The room appeared to be about half full of people, with varying stages of meals in progress. On the far end extension of the bar Marsh saw most of his new family. The person using the mic on the stage was Jimmy.
"....and finally they show up. Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce your new CEO, Dr. Marshall Mitchel and his VP Rebecca Andrews. Come on up here Marsh and say a few words."
Marsh took Becca's hand and led her and Wolf over to the stage, where Jimmy handed him the mic.
Marsh looked around for about half a minute before speaking to them. "First of all," he began. "I have no idea what Jimmy has told you already, but I'm pretty sure things are not really that bad." Everyone chuckled at that.
"I see a few faces here that I saw at the first gathering I attended when I came here. If y'all want to just tune out, that's alright. For those of you who don't already know, I prefer to go by Marshall, or just Marsh. My executive vice president, and more importantly my fiancé, is Becca. Most of you probably know her as Jimmy's private executive pilot and personal body guard."
"My K-9 partner is Wolf. Wolf has been my personal escort for almost four years. He prefers being out in the forest, but he's also comfortable killing the bad guys that make it indoors as well. I'm sure at least some of you have heard rumors about the little altercation he and I got into over at Jimmy's hotel. Neither of us will ever come looking for a fight, but if you bring it to us, we're a lot like SEALs and Marines. We're not gonna run. You might want to take notice we're still here. Draw your own conclusions from that little fact."
"If you were expecting some old man with gray hair, from the geriatric set to take over the company, you're going to be disappointed. I want to be a member of a team that works together to solve problems that other people can't figure out how to fix."
"I don't know how long Jimmy wants us to be here, but wolf and I are willing to answer some questions if any of you want to interrupt your meal to ask them."
While Marsh was talking, Becca's phone vibrated indicating she had a priority call. She walked to an exit and took the call. Becca was only gone for a couple of minutes. When she came back Becca told Marsh, "It's all set." Marsh understood.
Before Becca returned, several people had asked questions that Marsh was able to answer quickly and concisely. When Becca came back, there were a few more questions that Marsh or Becca were able to answer. Everyone seemed satisfied with the answers, and soon everyone in the room went back to eating their meals.
Jimmy thanked Marsh for his efficient handling of the question and answer session. Then he led the family back to one of the conference rooms. He asked everyone to have a seat, and he stepped out of the room for a couple of minutes.
Jimmy came back with two men and two women. One of the women was wearing a nice business suit, and the other three had white aprons on. Jimmy introduced Virginia Hastings, the woman in the business suit, as the general manager of the Hole.
One of the men, he introduced as Jack Davis the head chef. Jimmy explained that all of the chefs here were multi-talented. There were usually two, sometimes three on duty, and there was not really a need for a menu. You tell your server or your chef what you want and it will be made. From soup to nuts, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, Tex-Mex, European, Middle Eastern, Latin American... It didn't matter. They even made American food. You know things like apple pie, Cheerios, steak and eggs, gumbo... whatever you wanted. All the chefs could make almost any of these. Some were a little better at one or another, but you just ordered what you want.
The other two employees were introduced as, Sandra Hanson, and David Brown. They were titled as purchasing agents. They were in charge of bringing in the foods and spices needed to make whatever anyone wanted. They made regular orders for fresh meats, fresh sea foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, anything any time of the year. If you wanted it they could have it here within forty eight hours, usually less.
Sandra liked to be called Sandy, and David preferred Dave, and they had contacts worldwide. Since Turner Security had transport planes coming and going to almost anywhere in the world on a daily basis, it was no problem to have someone meet an airplane, and load up a few boxes of whatever was ordered from anywhere in the world.
It should be noted here that just because Jimmy and his family were vegetarians, and didn't use alcohol, didn't mean they didn't meet the taste/food requirements of all of their people. The Hole served several hundred people every day from all over the world, and Jimmy had set this place up to meet their needs.
Jimmy took the time to personally introduce Marguarita to Sandy and Dave. If Mita wanted any kind of cooking related food or spices all she had to do was call one of them and they would make sure she had what she wanted.
To say Marguarita and Marsh were impressed and more than a little pleased would be an understatement. Marsh could have fresh strawberry-rhubarb pie all year long. And Marguarita could have fresh ingredients from Mexico or wherever at any time. Meal-time at the Mitchel/Rosario house was going to get verrrry interesting.
All four of the Hole's management team came over to Marsh and made sure he felt welcome. They assured him that if there was something he liked particularly well, they would make sure he could have it at any time.
Virginia went by Ginny, and she told Marsh that the room they were in right now, or another one just like it, would be reserved for him 24/7. If he called ahead she would set it up for him and any guests or business associates he was bringing in. Further, if he called in orders, and gave her arrival times she would have food ready as well.
Marsh thanked her and assured her he would try to give her reasonable advance warnings. "Since I just found out about this place, it'll take me a little while to figure out how to keep your lives as simple as possible. I will tell y'all the same thing I stress to all my team members. I want us to work together as a team. I don't want you to feel like you're working "for" me so much as you are working "with" me.
Jack walked around the table and took orders from each of the family members there. When he had all of them he left the room and went to the kitchen to make everyone's food.
Marguarita spent about fifteen minutes talking to Dave and Sandy about the things she liked to use in her cooking. They told her the things that were the easiest and which things took a couple of days. They assured her that they would get her what she wanted.
As Marsh listened to Marguarita talk to Dave and Sandy he thought of an idea. Many times as a kid, he could remember hearing Momma Vicky complain about not having this or that from the "old country". He asked Sandy if she thought it would be possible to drop some things off in the LA area.
"Shouldn't be a problem." Sandy assured him. The transports are going through there all the time anyway. She explained that planes had to stop on the west coast or through Bangor, Maine to go through customs, anyway. It would be as easy to drop off items for Momma Vicky in LA, as it was to pick up fish, clams, and lobster, when they stopped in Maine. It was routine.
Marsh was delighted, and assured Sandy that she had just scored some big points with the boss, and that he was going to make the day of his little Italian momma in Los Angeles. He told Sandy he was going to give Momma Vicky her contact information, and that he would try to get Momma to come back here to introduce them as soon as he could make it happen.
Before their food came out, Ginny invited Marsh to take a tour of The Hole. She showed him two more private conference rooms. Then she led him to a stairway that went down to the basement, where there was cold storage, a wine cellar, a huge walk-in refrigerator, and an equally large freezer. There was a dumbwaiter that could be used to send heavy items directly up to the kitchen, and a service elevator that came down from the loading dock out back. Heavy food items could be brought straight from the trucks to the appropriate storage area downstairs.
Ginny showed Marsh where her office was and how to get in any time he wanted. She also showed him the purchasing center, where Sandy and Dave each had an assistant helping them procure anything needed to satisfy the needs of the customers and the chefs, and make sure it was stored in the appropriate location.
There was a private restroom that was not open/available to the customers, or even most of the employees. It stayed a lot cleaner than the public restrooms. Not that she let the public restrooms get dirty. She just kept the executive restroom nicer than the others.
Ginny asked Marsh for his cell phone, and entered her own private cell phone number. "If you ever need anything boss, please call me. For you I'm available 24/7."
"Thank you, Ginny!" Marsh replied. "Please remember, yes, I'm the new boss, but I want you to treat me like part of a team. I'm Marsh."
Marsh and Ginny walked back to the conference room where two servers were delivering everyone's food. It was all very good. Marsh was impressed. He watched everyone around the table and saw that everyone was very satisfied.
Marsh took particular delight watching Marguarita. Whoever had cooked her Mexican breakfast had done a particularly good job. Marguarita looked like she was close to tears a couple of times. It was a first for her. She had really good authentic Mexican food and she had not had to do anything but sit and eat it.
Marguarita ate as much as she wanted, which was most of what she was given, and then got up and walked to where Jimmy was sitting. She hugged Jimmy and kissed his cheeks. Thank you so much, Jimmy this is marvelous. I want to go meet whoever made this food and thank them as well.
Jimmy had one bite left to eat, and then he got up and led Marguarita out of the room and into the kitchen. Jack met them almost immediately and after a short discussion with Jimmy and Marguarita he called one of the cooks over. Her name was Teresa Gonzales, and after a conversation in Spanish where Marguarita profusely thanked Teresa, Marguarita discovered that Teresa had been born and raised only about twenty miles from Marguarita's home town. Jimmy left Marguarita with Teresa and Jack so she could find out all about the food that was served here at The Hole. Teresa told Marguarita about how to order the things she wanted from Mexico, through Dave or Sandy.
When Jimmy returned to the conference room, Marsh queried him about the bar.
"Ah yes," Jimmy mused, "the bar. There is a stand of oak trees on the mountain above your house. One of the big trees got hit by lightning while I was rebuilding The Hole. I got a friend to haul the bottom forty feet of it down here, and another friend milled it. We opened the wall framing enough to get it in here, and then made the doors to fit the opening we had made. Those oak slab doors are not a standard size. Those doors and all the oak tables were milled from that one tree. I was not happy about losing it to begin with, but decided to make the best of an unfortunate situation. There's about a half a dozen that size up there still."
"Sweet!" Marsh responded. "Do you have any idea what that bar is worth?"
"I have no idea, Marsh." Jimmy smiled as he replied. "And I have no plans for having it appraised. It's never going anywhere, and I like it, so it doesn't need to be appraised. I sure wouldn't want to have to buy one like it, though. One of the things I really like is, I have the only one. Well I had the only one. I guess it's yours now."
"Just a minute my friend," Marsh looked Jimmy straight in the eyes. "As I recall, you told me you had a trust drafted, and you and I jointly own the trust, whenever we get around to having me sign the papers."
"Ah yes." Jimmy responded. "Details, details, we should probably take care of that this afternoon, after your tour."
As Marguarita walked back into the room, Jimmy stood up. "It looks like everyone is finished with their breakfast. I've asked one of our pilots to take most of you back to the ranch, where you can all go your separate ways. Be that to work, home or wherever you need to go. I need Becca and Marsh to stay with me, and we'll take a tour of the Turner Company's locations in this area. After that Marsh and I need to get together with our lawyers, and bankers, and get the ugly part of our business taken care of."
"Just so y'all know, this is the first time I've had a family to take out to breakfast, and I really enjoyed it. I hope we can do it frequently from this point forward. Rick, would you take the ladies out to the pad, and help them load up in the 412? I asked Sam Black to fly all of you back to the ranch."
Rick, Marguarita, Sue, Trish, and Jenni all headed out to the helipad, and Jimmy, Becca, and Marsh sat in chairs at the end of the table. Jimmy sat at the head of the table, and Marsh and Becca sat across from each other in the first chairs at the sides. Wolf was lying against the wall behind Marsh. He looked like he was asleep. Marsh knew just how quickly Wolf could be in action, and he took comfort in knowing he had the K9 back-up.
Jimmy sat silently for a few minutes, just looking up at nothing that Marsh could identify. Marsh could almost see the wheels turning in Jimmy's head as he put together what he wanted to say next.
Becca and Marsh both sat quietly with their elbows on the table, and their hands folded in front of them. Jimmy looked first at Becca, who smiled back at him, as he reached out and took one of her hands in one of his. He turned to look Marsh, and took one of his as well, with his other hand.
Looking back at Becca, Jimmy spoke softly. "Rebecca, you're my granddaughter, and I love you. You know that, right?
Becca smiled at Jimmy as she answered. "Of course, grandpa, you've showed me that very well. I hope you know that I love you, too."
"I do," Jimmy replied. "And I hope I never do anything to interfere with that. I need to ask you something, though. Are you OK with what I've done with the Turner Companies? In theory since you're my granddaughter, you should be in line to inherit, but with me bringing in Marsh,....."
Becca interrupted him. "Grandpa! How could you ever think I wouldn't be OK with what you do with your company? I love you just because you are my grandfather. And then because of all the things you've done for me, including the fact that you brought Marsh here, and introduced me to the love of my life! Do you have any serious questions, grandpa?"
Becca stood up and walked around the table to hug Jimmy, and gave him several warm kisses, on the cheeks and one on his mouth.
When she went back to her chair, Jimmy took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Becca my sweet girl. You sure make me proud to call you my granddaughter. I had nothing to do with your raising, but your parents did a stellar job of it. I couldn't ask for a better offspring. I feel very blessed to have found both of you."
"Marsh, you were related by being married to my other granddaughter. Neither of us knew that till last week, and as far as I'm concerned you are still related, even if you weren't going to marry this granddaughter. I'm not a religious man, but I'm beginning to believe in divine guidance. You came into my life for a reason. Marsh I had decided I didn't want to know what Rick had found out about Trish. I wasn't going to ask. You did, and I am going to be glad to my grave that you did. There's no way I could have known what a splendid family I have. I sure hope I live a few more years to enjoy my daughter, granddaughter and my son."
"Becca, I'd like you to take us up to the training base, but I'd like you to fly us low over the east side of the lake, so Marsh can see the lodge conference center. Let's not stop there just let him see it. Then we can go up to the base and he can see what all is there."
"After we are done there, we need to go over to the main office, and meet with the lawyers and the bank guy. He's going to be there at 1400 to get Marsh hooked up with the accounts. Come to think of it, did you ever get tied to the corporate accounts and get a corporate credit or debit card, Becca?"
"Not really, grandpa." Becca replied. "You have always been anywhere I was, so you always paid. I figured you didn't think I needed to be on any accounts."
"That changes today." Marsh interrupted. We're gonna need you on most everything. If the founder disagrees, I'm going back to my simple mountain man life in the San Bernardino Wilderness. Have I made that clear enough?"
Marsh was smiling as he looked toward Jimmy, and squeezed the hand that was still holding his.
"Hey, Hey, now," Jimmy blurted. "You don't need to get all testy with the old man. I'm old, and I get to blame the old-timer fading brain syndrome for my fuck-ups. I'm just glad I have you two to make sure I can find my way home at the end of the day. Of course we need to get her included. I'd be surprised if you told me not to have her in the trust with you, eh?
"You're not as much old-timer faded as you are trying to be, grandpa." Marsh emphasized the word grandpa. "We probably should make some provisions for your daughter as well. You know, just in case your private pilot screws up and lands that shiny jet on the nose cone or something like that."
"Hey!" Becca exclaimed. "It wasn't me screaming down the street at house top level the other day at over six hundred miles an hour. - About that. Was it as much fun as it looked like?" Now Becca had a grin from ear to ear.
Jimmy looked between the two youngsters at the table with him. "Now children," he said firmly. "Am I going to have to send you to your rooms, without dinner?" As he finished he knew that was the wrong thing to ask.
"Would you please," begged Marsh. "Hey Becca you want to play doctor when we get sent to our room? I think he forgot we live in the same bedroom."
"Sweet!" Becca quickly replied. "Do you want us to go straight from here, grandpa? I can use a little punishment right about now." Her smile said she was having fun with this.
"Awwwwww shit!" Jimmy said with disgust. "I know better than that. Why do I even open my mouth? Let's get outta here." Jimmy stood and let go of Marsh and Becca's hands. As he walked around the corner of the table, Becca wrapped her arms around him. "I love you grandpa. I will till one or the other of us dies, and then I'll just keep on loving you after that."
Before Becca was finished talking, Marsh had walked around and put his arms around both Jimmy and Becca. "What she said Jimmy, and Becca, too. You two are gonna be cursed with my presence around you long after you're both sick and tired of my smiling mug. Let's go."
As the trio walked to the 230 on the pad, Becca suggested that Marsh and Jimmy should sit on the right side in the back, with the door open and headsets plugged into the communication system. That way Jimmy could act as a tour guide and Marsh could have a better view, than if he was in the left seat up front.
On the helipad, Tom and Ralph were still sitting guard in the Huey. Marsh spoke to them in a greeting and told them he was looking forward to working with them at some future time. He and Becca did a walk around inspection of the helo and then Becca got in the pilot's seat, and Marsh climbed into the back with Jimmy.
Jimmy had modified the 230 so that the doors would lift off easily. He had taken the side rear doors off and stowed them in the back of the helicopter in a place he had specially designed to hold the doors securely.
Jimmy reached into the storage area and picked out a couple of harnesses that he and Marsh buckled into. The harnesses were modified climbing gear with straps that buckled into D-rings mounted into the floor. The straps were long enough to facilitate standing out on the step for observation or to assist in rescue operations. Marsh and Jimmy weren't likely to be getting out of the cabin, but the harnesses added an extra layer of safety. Both Marsh and Jimmy were big on safety.
While Marsh and Jimmy had been buckling up and getting seated, Becca had been going through the pre-start checklist, and had started the process of firing up the turbines. She was soon ready to lift off, and swung the helicopter to the left and across the road. She flew along a nicely graded gravel road that Jimmy told Marsh was the back way into the Turner Training base.
The training base was an abandoned military installation that Jimmy had purchased, from the government after it was closed as a result of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) action of 1988, in 1994. It was surrounded by BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land, and Jimmy had secured a lease on a large amount of that at the same time.
Becca began to veer the helo to the right, and soon slowed down and descended to just above the treetop level. They passed the tree line and were now flying over the lake that Marsh had seen the night before, when he and Becca had come up to Jimmy's lake house.
Becca flew low and slow along the lakeshore and she and Jimmy described all the features they flew past. There were numerous cabins along the shore. Some of them were close to the water, and some were almost hidden, back behind the tree line.
At about the halfway point, a mile from Jimmy's house, Becca slowed the helicopter even more. The trees thinned out a lot, and Jimmy described the camp that Marsh could see. There were at least a dozen small cabins clustered around a large log and stone built lodge. The lake-front wall of the lodge was mostly glass. The building had two stories with a large kitchen, dining room, and common room with a huge stone fireplace. On each side of the common room there was a conference room, and the second floor had bedrooms along a wide balcony.
There were several garages, workshops, and storage buildings on the back side of the lodge, and there was a large beach area with a swimming area buoyed off, between a couple of docks. On the outside of the docks there were a couple of boat houses. Becca mentioned that there was at least one Correct Craft Ski Nautique in each of the boat-houses. Jimmy told him there were several pontoon boats in the storage buildings, as well.
Jimmy told Marsh that the Turner Companies had several weeks of summer camps for the children of their employees every year, and that at times some of the manufacturing companies brought employees out here for weekend retreats. There were a few full time staff at the camp, and they brought in staff for the kids camps as needed. Employee groups were responsible for bringing their own staff, or hiring staff through the camp manager.
It was over a mile to the far end of the lake, from the camp. On this end of the lake and across on the other side there were some training areas with more docks, buildings, sheds, and a mess hall. Water rescue training and underwater operations were taught and practiced here. Jimmy made a point of telling Marsh that there were several other water training facilities, including a large one on one of the Hawaiian Islands. He said there was an executive resort in the Caribbean as well.
Becca gained a little altitude as she flew across the north end of the lake shore and over the forest again. It was another five miles to where the forest ended, and Marsh saw several miles of cleared land in three directions.
There was a paved road that entered the base from the west. It came off of a larger four lane divided highway. Marsh could see at least a dozen buildings that looked like administration and barracks, in a grouping that was typical of a military base. There were additional buildings further out that could have been classrooms and bunkers. Marsh saw a runway that he guessed was around twelve thousand feet long. It could probably handle large transports as well as smaller aircraft. Marsh asked Jimmy why it appeared to be unused.
"We're working on a conditional use variance." Jimmy said. The city had opposed The Turner Companies use of the base for a private airport. They were charging Turner for hangers and landing fees, as well as selling fuel for their aircraft. They didn't want to lose that revenue. Jimmy had sued them and won the suit, but there were still a few hurdles to jump, it wouldn't be much longer, maybe only a couple more weeks. He hoped to have it passed in time for Becca's birthday. Marsh smiled and nodded.
There were several large hangers here and some smaller ones as well. Presently Marsh saw over a dozen helicopters on the ground. There were several UH-1Y Hueys. Two AH-1Z Super Cobras, aka Vipers. He also saw an OH-58 Kiowa, and a couple of CH-53 Super Stallions. Marsh had seen a Bell 412 at the Hole, and there were two of them here.
Marsh looked at Jimmy. "I think we should get another 412, as well as your 525, Jimmy. I see myself carrying more people than the 230 will carry quite often."
"I have no problem with that," Jimmy responded. "We could order a second 525 if you'd like. We have a new 412 coming within the next couple of weeks. You can use that one till we can get the 525s. There's a Sikorsky S-92 around here somewhere, too."
"Works for me," Marsh replied. "I wish I could find a vertical take-off and landing FA-18. I'm not real fond of the Harrier though, so until I can get an F-35B I'll have to wish for the FA-18 E, and settle for flying helicopters, for my vertical take-off and landing stuff. I can at least carry more people in the choppers, than in an F-35, and a FA-18 combined." Marsh gave Jimmy a wink and a nod. Jimmy knew what that was about.
Becca flew north across the runway and away from the main buildings. It was three or four miles out to another cluster of buildings. Here there were a couple of obstacle courses, jump training platforms, and various rifle and pistol ranges. Marsh asked if one of the buildings was an armory. Jimmy just nodded, and pointed to the largest building in the group.
Marsh had noted that there was a motor-pool at the main base, and a smaller one here at the outpost. There were MRAPs, HUMMWVs, 2 ½ ton and 5 ton trucks and tractor trailers. Out here at the outpost, Marsh saw a couple of M1A1 Abrams battle tanks.
Marsh decided he was looking at the generic equivalent of a smaller version of Camp Pendleton, where his own private Marine Corps/SEAL teams trained. He knew that there were some Army Rangers in his teams, but he knew that Jimmy was partial to the SEALs and Marines that he had been with in 'Nam, forty years ago.
Marsh asked Jimmy, "Is there anything on Pendleton that we don't have here?"
"Yeah," Jimmy replied. "Fighter jets, and approved runways. We're gonna fix that though." Jimmy paused, and then continued. "Maybe you ought to start talking to your friend Dan about switching his flight operations out here. We could serve him better than those idiots at the city's airport are doing, and do it a hell of a lot cheaper. Hell Marsh, I buy jet-A, delivered out here, for about half what we're paying at the "International Airport". Those guys are outrageous."
Marsh thought about that for a minute. "I reckon that would save him money in the long run, wouldn't it? He would have a little longer drive from his offices to our base than the airport. It would be a lot closer to his home. And we might be able to convince him to sell his Board of Directors on the idea of a helicopter or two. Then he'd have some quick transportation across town."
"You got it," Becca chimed in. Wouldn't that piss off the city fathers? They already know they're losing our revenue. If we pulled Dan's company business out there, they'd have a conniption fit."
Jimmy laughed. "I would love that! After all the shit they have put me through, I'd like to stick it to them any way I can. Marsh, please talk to Dan Morrison about it."
"I tell you what, Jimmy." Marsh responded. "I'll talk to him about it as soon as we know when we are going to be approved. I'm assuming we have fuel tanks and delivery arrangements in place already, no?"
Jimmy smiled. "We do. We are not using all of the tanks that we have, but we have tanks, and fuel trucks. And I have a contract with Shell Aviation that says they'll supply all the fuel we can use. It doesn't hurt anything that one of the big shots at Shell Global is a friend of mine from 'Nam.
Becca flew over almost the entire base, and Marsh was impressed with the variety of the training areas. She also flew out to the highway and Marsh was able to see the base entrance. There was a guardhouse at the gate, that was staffed 24/7. ID was needed to get in. It would not be that long of a drive from Dan's office complex to get to the base/air field.
Becca flew back to the headquarters complex, and landed the helo. Jimmy took Marsh into the HQ building and introduced him to the key people at the training facility. He showed Marsh a locked office that he happened to have a key to, and told Marsh that this was his office out here. There was another "control" room here at HQ, and Jimmy told Marsh there were several underground bunkers including another control room, and armory.
After a walking tour and several introductions, Jimmy suggested they head down to the main offices and get ready to meet with the suits. Jimmy could also show Marsh some online tours of some of the properties and facilities in other states and in a couple of other countries.
Becca made the trip to the new office building a short one and landed on the roof. She took a page out of Marsh's playbook and backed the 230 into the hanger. Marsh and Jimmy unstrapped their harnesses, and Marsh reached back and picked up a door. Jimmy showed him how to put it back on the helo, and then they all headed down to their offices.
Marsh went straight to Trish's office and received a hug and very warm kiss. "Oh Marsh," Trish gushed. I'm so glad to see you. Do you have time to walk down to the hotel with me? I want to go take some paperwork down there and pick up some bills and timecards."
"I'll make time for you, sweetheart." Marsh replied with a smile. "How's it going up here, baby doll? Are you enjoying the new office and the change in work load?"
"Oh Marsh!" Trish exclaimed. "I'm learning so much new stuff. I'm muddling through and asking a lot questions. Rick knows a lot of stuff about management. I know hotel stuff, but it's nice to have Rick to help me with the management stuff."
"Trish," Marsh responded. "If you want to take some business classes or go to hospitality seminars, you just say the words, and I'll make sure you can go and learn the things you think you need or want. Do a little bit of internet research and find out what's available. Your boss is big on education and will support you completely. Let's walk down to the hotel and talk on the way."
Trish and Marsh walked to the elevator, rode to the ground floor, and walked down to the Best Western, Turner Inn. The conversation was a combination of serious business and light hearted banter. Marsh felt very comfortable chatting with his mother-in-law about anything and everything. He found her to be gaining both knowledge and confidence.
When Trish was finished with her business at the hotel office, she and Marsh walked back up to the office building. Marsh asked her to go up to the executive suite without him, and he turned and walked down to the medical offices that were being remodeled and refurnished.
Sue and Jenni were making great progress, and Marsh was glad he had hired the right people to do the job.
Sue told Marsh that she had talked to Vernon Jobinski and he would gladly see Rick next Tuesday. Vernon told Sue that he knew exactly what she was talking about. He had seen seven Vietnam vets that had been in the same prison camp. The doctor that tortured the American prisoners was notorious for his cruelty and this specific injury was one of his specialties. Vernon had developed a fairly quick and easy repair, which had been successful on the first try on six of the seven vets. The first Marine he had worked on had to come back for a second surgery, but Vernon had been successful in restoring full function. There would still be scars, but Vernon was pretty sure he could fix Rick's problem.
Vernon had also said that the Navy surgeon that had done the first patch job on these vets had been really good, and the work he did on them was way ahead of the standard for the time. Vernon told Sue he would really like to find this old Navy surgeon and pick his brain. Marsh asked Sue to call Vernon again so Marsh could talk to him.
Sue picked up her office phone and hit one of the speed dial buttons. Dr. Jobinski's office manager answered the phone on the second ring. "Hi Sue!" She said pleasantly, "you need to talk to Dr. Jobinski again?"
"Wow!" Sue exclaimed. "You have me on your caller ID already? I'm impressed. I would like to talk to him if it isn't too much trouble, but I have Dr. Mitchel here on the speaker as well."
"Oh hi, Marsh! I haven't heard from you in years. How're you doing?"
"I'm doing very well, Sonja. How 'bout you? Marsh asked.
I'm well also Marsh; I'll get Dr. Jobinski for you right away. He's finished with his morning patients, and just getting ready to get some lunch." Came the pleasant reply.
Vernon Jobinski came on the line in a matter of seconds. "Sue, Marsh, to what do I owe the honor of getting to talk to both of you so soon?
Marsh responded. "Vernon, Sue says you know the fix for a problem that not just a few guys came back from 'Nam with. She tells me you want to meet the Navy MASH doctor that patched some of them up."
"Marsh, that Navy surgeon was a genius. I'd love to meet the guy. He did a super job with the patching job. I'm sure if he'd had the procedure I came up with he would have done it in the jungle. As it is, if he hadn't done the great work he did in the jungle, I would never have been able to fix these heroes. Do you have any idea how to find him? I'd love to talk to him and show him the procedure. He can probably give me some pointers that can improve my procedure."
"Well Vernon, how 'bout I bring him with us when we come out next week? He happens to be my partner, and I knew he was good, but hearing it from you makes me proud to say I know him. I'll make sure he's with us when we get there."
"Marsh, you've made my day," Dr. Jobinski replied. "I'm looking forward to seeing all of you next week."
"Me too, Vernon," said Marsh. "I'm sure Dr. Turner will enjoy the trip as well. I've got work to do and I'm pretty sure you do too. Thanks Vernon. See you Tuesday."
Sue pushed the end call button, and she and Marsh talked about the progress here at the new practice offices and the upcoming trip to San Bernardino. Sue told Marsh she didn't need to go on this trip unless he insisted. If Marsh and Jimmy saw the procedure they could do it if it ever came up in the future. And with her specializing on the other half of the species, both Sue and Marsh figured that was a very remote possibility.
Jenni was ordering equipment and lining up people to fill positions. She had worked with Rick and Jimmy to hire contractors and architects to do the work on the urgent care center, and to get started on the fitness center and gym.
After seeing the progress that was being made in the new urgent care offices, and the plans that were in the works for the gym and fitness center, Marsh headed up to his office suite, and went in to talk to Trish some more.
Trish was handed the task of getting a cafeteria and food services, and Marsh wanted to get caught up on how those items were going along. He was pleased with the progress. Trish had made appointments with some people from the Golden Corral chain, The Olive Garden, and the El Torito chain. The people from the Olive Garden were going to be there tomorrow, and the Golden Corral and El Torito people would be here on Monday. Golden Corral representatives would be here in the morning and El Torito's people in the afternoon.
Trish was hoping that the Golden Corral representatives would agree to put in a restaurant that would serve as the cafeteria, and both Olive Garden and El Torito would put in restaurants on the property between the office building, and the hotel. Or perhaps one on each side of the entrance road. Marsh liked the ideas that Trish was working on, and told her so. Trish beamed.
She also had a call in to a couple of yogurt shops that she thought could put in a small satellite shop in the fitness center. Marsh decided he had made a very good choice when he put Trish in charge of the hospitality division. She obviously had great ideas and the initiative to follow through with them. This seemed to be working out as well as he had hoped, maybe better.
Marsh did a walk through the building with Wolf, checking in with the employees in each department. He got good feedback from several employees, and was told more than once that the new safe transportation program was going to be a hit.
The security division was in the basement, and had quite a bit of foot traffic, coming and going. Like he had on the floors above, Wolf was well received. He was polite and friendly, and made several new friends.
Marsh made a point of being back up in the executive suites a few minutes before the lawyers and the bank executives arrived. He stopped and asked Trish and Becca to join him in his office where he had a conversation about what was going to happen this afternoon. Jimmy came in and joined the conversation.
Trish was adamant that she didn't need anything from the estate, and didn't need to be in the trust meetings they were going to have.
Both Marsh and Jimmy tried to reason with her, and Becca finally got her to agree that she could sit in and at least hear what was going on. Becca told her that she (Becca) didn't want anything from the estate or the trust either, but that she could help Marsh better if she knew what was going on. Marsh could tell Trish wasn't entirely convinced she should be in the meetings but she grudgingly agreed to sit in and listen to what was going on.
Sally knocked on Marsh's door and when Marsh told her to come in she told the executive group that the gentlemen and lady from the bank had arrived. She had sent them to one of the boardrooms and had called the IT department to come up and help them set up any computer connections they needed.
Marsh asked her to call Rick and ask him to come up and join them as well. Rick showed up in just a few minutes and the five of them went to the board room where the bankers were just finishing their computer connections.
Jimmy had already told the bank executives what he wanted and what was already in the trust, so there really weren't a lot of things to work out.
Marsh insisted on adding Trish and Becca to several of the accounts so that they could do their jobs and make payments and purchases as needed. The additional paperwork needed to add them was minimal, and the bankers were finished in about forty five minutes.
They had actually brought debit and credit card blanks with them and an imprinter that enabled them to make new corporate cards for Marsh, Becca and Trish. As the bankers were leaving Trish laughed and asked, "Does this mean I can go out and go on a shopping spree this afternoon?
Marsh, Jimmy, and Becca all laughed with Trish. Becca spoke up and said, "Only if I get to come with you and use your card."
Trish responded. "Hey they just made you one of your own. Why do you need to use mine?"
"Because you're the mother, and Marsh will never know how much I spent. It'll all show up on your card."
Even the company accountant that was in the meeting laughed. She had made notes throughout the meeting and knew where to put money and charges for each cost center.
Trish told everyone she didn't want to have to worry about all the cost centers, and where all the charges went. She just wanted to do her own job and leave the accounting to the people her father and Marsh had hired to take care of those tasks.
Several lawyers, clerks, and secretaries showed up promptly at 1500. Jimmy introduced Marsh, Trish, and Becca to the company on staff lawyers, and they in turn introduced a couple of lawyers from an outside firm, who were helping to handle all the corporation details, and the main trust composition.
Marsh spoke to the attorneys and told them what he had in mind for including Trish and Becca. He spoke to them for about ten minutes spelling out his own thoughts and wants. The lead attorney from the outside firm listened to Marsh's thoughts and then replied. "You're nobodies dummy are you Dr. Mitchel? I've never heard a person that didn't have some kind of legal training speak so knowledgably about corporate and trust issues. We can make all of that work, almost exactly the way you just spelled it out. I have to admit, I don't think I could have described what you just did any better."
"I could have used a few bigger words and some legalese mumbo jumbo, but it wouldn't have made any sense to anyone but the attorneys. That was impressive."
Trish spoke up right after the lawyer quit speaking. "That was clear enough that I even understood it. I just barely finished high school. Marsh, that was very clear. Thank you for including me in this so nicely."
Marsh smiled at Trish, and then turned to the attorney. "Thank you both for the kind words. I don't officially have any formal legal education. I have been through several issues that I had to study the law for, and it's important to me to do things right. If nobody has any objections, you can make the necessary modifications to the documents, and this meeting doesn't have to drag out half of the night. Some of us have better things to do this evening."
Jimmy listened in awe. After Marsh finished he spoke up. "Wow! Marsh I had no idea you were so eloquent at legal matters. I wish I could speak with half the knowledge and poise you just demonstrated. Well done son! I think I'll keep you around a while."
The Turner corporate lawyer chuckled. "Jimmy, in a few minutes, if all of you sign on the dotted line; you'll have no choice in the matter. You'll have to hope Marsh, Trish and Becca will let you stay around. The way you had things it was just going to be just you and Marsh, but the way he just described things the girls are going to have a say as well. You can be voted out of your own company."
Jimmy smiled at his friend. "Roger, you've been with me a long time. You know I would be more than happy for these punk kids to just take over and push me out. I could take my sorry ass to Alaska to fish in the summer, and bask on a Caribbean beach in the winter. I've been told that isn't going to happen any time soon. Marsh seems to think I can still contribute around here, and he's taken my pilot away from me. I can't go anywhere without asking."
Again everyone in the room laughed.
The lawyers got together and worked out the legal wording and made the necessary changes to the documents. While they worked the Turner executives talked quietly among themselves.
Rick walked over to Marsh shaking his head. "Marsh," he started. I did a lot of research into you. I knew your educational background, your family background, a lot of your personal likes and dislikes, and a lot more. You still keep surprising me with your depth. It's going to be an honor for me to work for,... ah...yeah...I know "with" you. This outfit gets more interesting every day."
"I sure hope you all feel that way for a long time." Marsh said. "I have developed a serious love for the four of you, and I hope the love and the company just grow like a weeds, and blossom like flowers."
The lawyers worked on the documents for about forty five minutes, before they were all in agreement. There was a laser printer in the room that was on the wireless network. One of the secretaries put the finishing touches on the documents and sent them to the printer. She made two copies and all the right people signed them in all the right places. One of the law clerks was a notary public, and did the necessary process to make everything proper. One copy of the documents stayed with the Turner people and one copy went with the lawyers to be recorded and duplicated, and whatever else had to be done. In the end there would be copies for everyone, but mostly everyone knew what the documents said and everyone agreed that they were happy with the outcome.
The outside lawyers left around 1645, and the Turner executives all went back to their offices. The corporate lawyer came along with them and asked Jimmy if he could talk to him and Marsh for a few minutes.
"Not without Becca and Trish." Marsh stated flatly. "They're a part of everything that has happened today, and they're part of any discussion about any and all of it."
"Damn, Marsh!" Roger exclaimed. I sure like your style. You are without a doubt the most open and direct man I've ever dealt with. Get those girls in here with us."
Marsh stuck his head in Trish's office door. "Hey sweetheart," he called to her. "Would you make a few more minutes available to hear a bit more from the lawyer? I promise I'll cut him off if he takes too much time. I want to get out of here."
Trish had not even had time to sit down at her desk, so she just ran over to Marsh and put her arms around his neck. "I have unlimited time for you my love. Remember, I told you anything, anywhere, anytime. Let's go, I'm ready. "
Marsh and Trish walked into Marsh's office where Roger, Jimmy and Becca were already seated.
"I won't take much of your time," he began.
"It's a good thing you said that," Marsh interrupted. "I'm not inclined to give you a lot of time to pontificate. I've got things to do and people to see."
Roger picked up where he had been interrupted. "I get it Marsh. I just want to give my take on what's going on here." He paused to look around the room at each person present. All four of you are equal owners of everything in the trust, the real estate, the buildings, the cars, trucks, aircraft, satellites, right down to the pencils and paper clips. Y'all are the owners. But for all practical purposes, Marsh is in charge. What he says goes. He can give anyone the authority to run anything in the companies at any time." He looked around the room, at each person there. Do you all understand and agree with that summary?
Jimmy responded. "Roger, that's not exactly the way I originally planned for this to go. It is how Marsh wants it to be, and I really like what Marsh has set up. I think it's better than I could have ever hoped it would be."
Becca spoke next. "Roger, I want you to know, I think Marsh is the smartest man I've ever known. I came to work for Jimmy and thought I had the best job in the world. I still think the same thing and I could care less who owns what or controls what happens in the company. I like things just the way they are."
"Same here," Trish responded. "I love my job and the people around me. I know I'll never need for anything as long as Jimmy or Marsh or Becca is around, and long after if something happens to any or all of them."
Roger stood up and walked over to shake Marsh and Jimmy's hand. "That's all I needed. I'm outta here. Y'all have a great evening." He turned to Becca and Trish. "I also want to shake your hands, and tell you that you're both very lucky to have an ally like Marsh. I can tell he respects both of you, and treats you like peers, not just employees, or as sexual objects. No offence intended, but it would be easy to see you both that way. You are both very beautiful women."
Both women smiled, and Becca responded. "Thank you, sir. No offence taken. We both feel the same thing. Marsh and Jimmy both treat us very well. I think we are going to stick around and enjoy the ride."
Roger told the group that he would make sure that they all got copies of any and all legal paperwork they needed, especially anything they had signed. Roger turned and walked out of the office. Marsh sat back down at his desk, and heaved a big sigh.
"I need to ask a couple of questions. First, Jimmy. Would you be offended if I used the name "dad" when I refer to you? I haven't had a father for a long time. My biological dad disappeared a lot of years ago. I miss the man I knew as my father and I don't think I'll ever quit wondering where he went and if he'll ever turn up. Dead or alive."
"You've taken me in and treated me like I think my father would, and I love you as much as I know how. I don't know what I did to deserve this. After the loss of my wife and my baby girl, I never expected this kind healing to ever happen to me."
"I am a little concerned that I'll wake up in my mountain cabin and find it's all a dream. I want it to be real, and I want it to last. And I want to have a father, and I want you to be that dad."
Marsh had moisture in his eyes before he was finished. He hadn't realized how much stress he had been feeling. Marsh now realized that he had been feeling this need since Becky and Elise had died, and the pressure he felt as he saw the magnitude of the responsibility he was taking on hit him especially hard today when he was signing all the legal paperwork and accepting the responsibility for the well-being of not only thousands of employees, but the clients and the people of the several countries that depended on his companies for their very lives.
He had seen Terri Powell, and Hanna Lindquist. They were real names with real faces, with real dangers that they didn't bring on themselves. He knew there were people in place that shared his responsibilities. But today he had signed the legal papers that said, "The Buck Stops Here". It was Marshall Mitchel's job now to make sure it all worked. He felt like having a dad would have his back.
Marsh paused only briefly. "Second: Becca, Will you marry me? I really need a partner now. I know it's very early in our relationship. I know I can be a very dark, killer. I'd like to point out that the guys I killed were killers.
I love you Rebecca Andrews. I want you to be my partner for the rest of my life. This afternoon I accepted the responsibility for the safety and well-being of thousands of people around the globe, and I want you to be my guiding light when things get dark. I'll try to be your rock and you can be my safe harbor.
Marsh crossed his arms on his desk and put his forehead on his arms. He took several deep breaths, and while he was down both Becca and Jimmy walked around the sides of his desk and they each put an arm around his shoulders.
Jimmy spoke first. "Marsh, I've never had a son or a daughter till last week. Now I have both. Trish is my daughter. I know that because I imported and adopted a son. That would be you. You gave me the information about my daughter, and I will be grateful till the day I die.
I'm slowing down Marsh. I can't do everything I used to be able to do. I'll do my level best to be here for you as you take over for me. Marsh I'd be honored to answer to "dad".
Jimmy took a deep breath and looked at Becca. Marsh still had his head on his arms and his face nearly on his desk.
Becca put her face down next to Marsh's. She spoke softly and tenderly, just loud enough so that Jimmy and Trish could hear. "Marshall Mitchel, I am ready to be your wife, your partner, your confidante and your safe harbor. If anything else comes up that you need I'll do the best I can to help you fill that need."
"Marsh, I can't begin to describe the pride and honor I'm feeling. The enormity of the task you have accepted and the importance you have given to the events we just went through, tells me you are way bigger than the ER physician who has earned a reputation as the 'Killer Doc'."
"Yes Marsh, you and I have both earned a certain amount of fame as killers. But I know that you, like me, would much rather be the healers and life savers that we set out to be. Maybe together we can make the world, or at least our little corner of it, a brighter, happier, healthier place."
Becca got as close to Marsh's face as she could and placed soft kisses on his skin.
Marsh reached out with one hand and pulled a couple of tissues out of the box on his desk. He lifted his head, and dried his eyes, and daubed the dampness from the top of his desk.
The pressure was lifted. He had gotten the weight from his shoulders and had been reassured by his two closest allies that they would be with him through whatever was coming. Now it was time to get back to work, and take his responsibilities on, one at a time, if possible.
Marsh looked at Becca. "As I recall, you told me you have an 1830 appointment off in the woods somewhere, right?"
Becca nodded in the affirmative.
Marsh looked at his watch. "Since its 1715 as we speak, perhaps we should light up a couple of burners and take ourselves a little closer to where we need to be. You've got a face to put on, as well, my love."
The three Turner executives got up, and headed for the helipad. Marsh asked Sally if Trish had gotten out of the office yet. Sally said that Trish, Sue, and Jenni, had left about ten minutes earlier. Marsh told her that the three of them were leaving, and she should button things down and ski daddle on out of here herself.
Jimmy, Becca, and Marsh took the elevator up to the helipad, and took the 230 for the short flight to the ranch. Jimmy went over to his house, and Marsh and Becca went down to the bull-pen where Becca put on her Judy Monet disguise.
Marsh changed his clothes putting on a set of dark gray/navy blue camos, they had the markings of the Sheriff's Department he was part of. From almost any distance it looked like he was dressed in black. Marsh waited in the control room and studied the monitors with the staff that was on duty, watching their procedures and listening to the radio traffic from the operatives out in the field.
Becca came into the control room at about 1815, wearing her disguise and a terrycloth robe. "You ready to cover my six, Marsh?" she asked.
"I'll cover your six anytime you'd like beautiful! You've got me wrapped around your...ah little finger." Marsh laughed.
Both of them gave the control room employees a friendly good night, and reminded them to stay alert for intruders. They walked out of the bull-pen, and headed to the trail into Dan Morrison's property, where they walked briskly towards the pool and waterfall.
Marsh lifted Becca's robe off her shoulders and stepped into the forest. Becca walked towards the four members of the Morrison party. She felt a chill, not that the air was even close to cool, but because she was pretty sure one or the other or both Dan and Ted would recognize her voice, identifying her as the principal participant at the party where Harold Gordon and his friends were punished. He name could still remain obscure, and she was wearing the face of an undercover character, but she knew her voice would be the one they had heard that night. She was just a little nervous.
Joanna couldn't wait for Judy to get there; she broke into a run to meet her and threw her arms around Judy in a warm greeting. Arm in arm they both walked toward the rest of the party.
Joanna introduced Judy to Dan, Mary, and Ted. Judy was silent until Dan asked her some questions. When Becca (Judy) responded, Dan and Ted looked like they were looking at a ghost. They both stuttered and stammered and it took them several tries before they could express anything that resembled coherent communication. And then what they said made absolutely no sense to Joanna and Mary.
Joanna spouted a bit of profanity, and Mary expressed a desire to get out of the area where there were unseen observers. Dan Morrison was able to catch his brain up with his response reflex, and he talked the two lady police officers into a little calmer demeanor so that everyone was able to finally relax and get into the cold pond.
The conversation consisted of a lot of questions from Dan and Ted, a few from Mary and less from Joanna, who had already heard a lot of this stuff already. Then Becca (Judy) told them about "The Butcher". Joanna still had some reservations about her first "kill". After Judy was done telling her about him she was much more at ease. One thing she knew, she was grateful for her training and she was glad Judy and her partner were there.
Becca gave Ted enough information about his boss, the chief of police, Ted was ready to take off some heads. Becca promised to provide him with enough documentation to crucify the chief; if Ted was sure he wanted to follow through. She warned him that if he went too far before the right time and without the right documentation, that he himself could become a target of the wrong people.
After more than an hour of sharing information, Dan asked if "Judy" would consider coming to the house. He told her that he thought Terri and Hanna would like to meet her. Becca (Judy) asked the Morrison group to wait a few minutes.
Becca came back to the place where Marsh was waiting. He offered her the robe to put back on, but Becca turned it down and asked Marsh about going to the Morrison's house. "Not by yourself." He insisted. "Nobody there could do you any harm by themselves and I don't think it's a trap anyway. I'll be damned if I trust Harold Gordon's organization, however. At that estate you take back-up. Tonight that's me."
Becca was filled with warmth. Marsh sure knew how to make her feel loved and cared for. She walked back and asked Dan if she could come to his house in a car, and bring someone with her.
Dan made it clear that he was comfortable with her bringing anyone she wanted.
Becca turned and walked back to Marsh and the Morrison party walked back towards their home.
Marsh and Becca walked back to the bull-pen, and walked inside. Marsh paused at the control room and told the team that he and Becca were going over to the Morrisons for the evening. They hopped in the Gator, drove it up to the car shed, and Marsh picked out an old Bronco, without a top. It was a '70 Bronco which had been lifted about three and a half inches in the suspension, wearing thirty three inch Goodyear Wranglers. The paint was a dark blue poly, and it was refurbished inside and out. It had the sound of a typical modified Bronco.
Marsh drove it down to the gate, turned left and stopped at the Morrison estate. He stepped out of the Bronco just before he pulled up to the gate, and stripped off his boots and camos. Leaving the clothes on the seat of the Bronco, Marsh pulled up to the gate and pushed the call button. Marsh recognized the voice that responded but Becca leaned across his chest and told her that it was Judy and her friend. They heard Terri speak to Joanna and then the gate opened. Terri told them to stop just inside and wait for the gate to close.
Marsh knew the drill, but he appreciated the attention Terri paid to safety by giving him the reminder. As they stopped by the front of the house, Ted Johnson and Mary Davis opened the front door and greeted them warmly. Marsh noticed that Mary's attitude had softened. She was very pleasant here in her comfortable zone. He had gotten close enough out in the woods to notice that Mary was kinda tense. He didn't blame her, but he liked Mary a lot better under the current conditions.
Judy introduced Marsh by saying, "This is my friend Mike." Ted and Mary shook his hand and the four of them walked into the house.
Mary offered Judy and Mike a drink, as they walked through the kitchen. They both asked for cold water, and Mary stopped at the refrigerator. Ted walked out to the back deck with Marsh (Mike) and Becca (Judy), where Dan Morrison immediately stood up and shook hands with the new-comers.
Marsh reached out his hand to Dan saying, ""Hi, I'm Mike and we really appreciate the chance to meet you and your wonderful family and friends."
Marsh (Mike) was just a little self-conscious while he looked around and saw/felt the eyes of everyone on the deck checking him out. He knew he was in good enough shape that he didn't need to make any excuses, as a matter of fact Mike was pretty sure he was in as good shape as anyone here or better than most.
There were quite a few empty chairs, so Mike and Judy sat down. Mike had already studied the files, and knew everyone here, but he and Becca listened attentively as Dan introduced each member of his "extended family". One thing Mike noted and appreciated was that there were no ugly women, not that they were Ok looking, they were all beautiful. Some of them could be high end New York or Parisian models. Mike did compare Terri and Kim, to Becca. If he had to choose on by looks alone he'd be in trouble, but then he realized, his Becca had the legs.
Marsh thought to himself, "This Dan Morrison fellow is just about as lucky as I am, maybe a little more so. He actually has more eye candy than I do. I live with a passel of stone foxes, and so does he. I wonder if they all share like the ladies across the street do." That did stay thought and unspoken. Marsh sometimes had to worry. More than once he had "thought" out loud, and gotten himself in trouble.
When Dan finished his introductions, Mike expressed his pleasure at finally being able to meet all of them. It was really nice, actually since he had heard so much about everyone here, but had not met them in person. Becca had remained quiet since they had arrived, and Marsh/Mike paused for her to chime in. That was not in the cards for at least a few more minutes it seemed.
As though the kitchen had come alive, a young couple came through the kitchen and then out the door to the deck. They were laughing and teasing each other like a couple of school kids. Marsh's first thought was that it was refreshing to see a couple of teen age kids having an uninhibited good time, without the usual hang-ups that frequently are evidenced in older teens.
Marsh knew that the girl was Dan's daughter Jenna, but didn't recognize the young man. Jenna started apologizing immediately for breaking into whatever was going on before she had arrived. It didn't matter, Dan introduced Jenna, and she very promptly introduced her boyfriend Kevin.
Jenna and Kevin both were wearing a shirt and shorts. Jenna proceeded to show her shy, reserved nature, - NOT! That child was about as uninhibited as you're gonna find. She undressed and helped Kevin out of his clothes with as much flair as she could muster up. She never looked or acted slutty, but if she had ever had a shy, reserved bone in her body, she had had it surgically removed a long time ago.
Before the Jenna show ended, Dan apologized for her lack of inhibitions, and Jenna pulled Mike right into her conspiracy. She's an exhibitionist and pulled in anyone she could rope into her demonstration. Mike was actually a willful participant. Jenna was cute, confident, and refreshing to meet.
As Jenna was wrapping up her show she threw her arms around Mike and thanked him for his support. Then before she pulled away from him she caught her fingers in the gold chain around his neck. Jenna pulled the chain out where she could see the rings. "These are beautiful Mike," she gushed, "whose are they?"
Mike looked like he was about to cry, when he replied. He pulled Jenna into his lap and then responded to her question.
"Sit right here in Uncle Mike's lap, sweetie. I'll tell you a short version of the story."
"Four years ago in a faraway place there was a young emergency room doctor. He was married to a beautiful woman that looked just like the one here beside me. Neither the doctor nor his beautiful wife knew it, but the wife had an identical twin sister."
"One afternoon the doctor was taking care of some sick people in the emergency room, and his wife was out shopping with his pretty little seven year old daughter."
"His wife and daughter happened to be in the wrong place at just the right moment, and a bad, drunk man driving a very big dump truck, drove straight through a red traffic light. The doctor's wife and little daughter were killed instantly."
"After they died, an old friend of the doctor took the wedding rings and the little girl's birthday ring, and sent them to her brother. Her brother was a jewelry maker in Mexico, and he had made the rings originally for the doctor's wife and daughter."
"When he got the rings back, he put them on a gold chain and welded the chain closed so it would never come apart. He sent the chain with the rings on it back, so the doctor could keep it around his neck, close to his heart, as a reminder of the deep love he had been blessed with."
"Jenna, this chain and these rings will never come off of my neck, and I will always remember the love of those two beautiful people that were in my life. If anyone wants to see these beautiful rings they are welcome to get close to me and look at them, but I will NOT be taking them off."
There wasn't a dry eye on Dan Morrison's deck when Mike finished his story. He paused, and then he went back into a lighter frame of mind.
"The real reason Judy and I are here tonight," Mike said as he looked around the circle at everyone, "We want to help Terri and Hanna."
Becca took this as an opportunity to join the conversation, and by joining in she knew she would reveal her identity to more of the Morrison family. She simply said, "Yes, I want to let both of them know, they're safe."
Gasps of shock went around the deck, as Marion, Kim, Jenna, Terri, and Hanna, all recalled where they had heard that voice. As the recognition settled in on the faces of the Morrison family women, Becca spoke again. Softly she said, "Yes, that's right, I am that woman." Becca paused again and watched Terri and Hanna.
The girls had begun to cry, and Dan's family all got up and gathered around them in a show of support. Marsh could feel the love glowing from the tight little group. Becca got out of her chair, and moved over beside the knot of loving people. She was only there for a few seconds when Dan Morrison stepped out of the way and drew her into the group. As she stepped in next to the center of the group, first Terri and then Hanna turned to embrace her. There were some tissues handed out and the tears flowed freely.
The group hug lasted for several minutes, and as family members sat down, a chair became available for "Judy" to sit between Terri and Hanna. They would not let go of the beautiful lady that had given them a measure of satisfaction of seeing the monsters that had abused them, get a little of their own medicine.
The girls asked Becca a lot of questions, and she soon just started repeating the story about what had happened that night, and how she felt while she was dishing out the punishment. Known to the girls only as "Judy", Becca told Terri and Hanna that she had really wanted Harold Gordon to choose to fight her. She had already decided that she was going to kill him if he gave her even a little excuse. She would call it self-defense.
Her boss had already given her the green light, and told her that Harold Gordon's body would never be found. As they had seen, the low life had really been a coward, which had actually saved his life that night.
This was the first time Marsh had heard Becca tell this story. He realized as she told it, how much Becca had wanted to kill Harold Gordon, and how much restraint she had exercised. Marsh was pretty sure she had left Harold alive only because she had considered the impact it would have had on Terri and Hanna if she had killed him. Marsh knew the results of watching someone die like The Flaming Red Widow Maker would make it happen.
Marsh knew that most people think there is someone they would like to see die in pain. Marshall Mitchel had witnessed it from a fair number of viewpoints. He still didn't enjoy it, and he had seen seemingly big tough men, broken by the PTSD brought on after even a single ugly death. Marsh knew that both he and Becca were experts in the administration of such a death. Terri and Hanna were not strong enough to see that happen.
Terri and Hanna did ask Becca some questions, and then Hanna asked "Judy" if she would be OK with them stepping away from the others and talking privately. Marsh could tell everyone there was pleased to hear "Judy" say, "I will do anything for you girls."
Terri politely asked Dan and Kim if they minded the three going up to Terri's room to talk, and Dan quickly told them to take all the time they needed.
Mike's level of comfort grew as he watched and heard the way the Morrison family had risen to accommodate these two young ladies. They had both been victims of unspeakable crimes, but with the love and acceptance Marsh was witnessing here. He knew without a doubt, that the two beautiful girls would experience a full recovery and from here on out they would live normal lives. – Well maybe a little bit pampered. Marsh knew he would be happy to contribute to the pampering, but Dan Morrison was doing a bang up job, all by himself.
When Becca left with Terri and Hanna, Dan turned his attention to Mike, and asked what he did. Marsh knew Dan had no idea who he was or what his background was. He really wanted to just come clean and tell Dan everything, but out of respect for Jimmy and the Turner employees, he didn't want to give the local police department too much information, before he knew how much he could trust them. Marsh was pretty sure the level of risk was low, but his respect for Jimmy made him hold an ace up his sleeve...well...figuratively. Since he was naked he didn't have any sleeves, and they weren't really playing cards. Just a high stakes, very serious, game of cat and mouse.
Mike reaffirmed that he was in fact a board certified emergency room physician, and he touched on his transition over the last four years into the realm of law enforcement. Marsh watched the faces of everyone around the deck. He saw a level of comfort settling in but at the same time he saw the local law enforcement officers give him questioning looks at times.
He stopped just short of telling everyone straight out who he was, but he gave them enough information so that they would not have any trouble finding out his real name or who he really was.
Marsh saw the light come on in Joanna's eyes an instant before she exclaimed, "Holy Shit! I thought I recognized your voice. I saw that news story. You're..."
Only to be interrupted by her boss, Sargent Ted Johnson. "He said he could neither confirm nor deny. I think we should leave it there." Marsh knew Ted had put the pieces together as well. He could see Mary making some mental notes, to use for follow-up. He saw Shelly take on a relaxed comfortable countenance. Her posture and facial expression said she was comfortable with whoever "Mike" was. She didn't need to know his life's history, she liked him for who he was this evening and she could tell he was definitely an ally where protecting Terri and Hanna was concerned. Marsh decided he liked Shelly White. She wasn't hard to look at, either. Marsh mentally dropped Shelly in the eye candy jar, and hoped she wouldn't be offended.
Dan changed the subject suddenly when he asked Mike if he and Judy would eat some pizza with the family. Mike replied that if they were getting a salad, that would be good enough. Dan insisted that a vegetarian pizza was no trouble to order. Joanna had the cell phone number of a preferred pizza delivery person and it didn't take long for several of the gals to put together a list of what everyone wanted. Joanna called Sue, and was assured that the pizza order would be delivered quickly.
Dan thought maybe everyone would like to relax in the pool for a while as they waited for the pizza to show up. Marsh wasn't sure he should take his partially healed wound into the pool, but Kim and Beth convinced him that "no" wasn't a viable answer, so he joined the family in the pool.
The pizza had been ordered and Mike had been in the pool with the Morrisons for about a half hour when Becca came out of the house with Terri and Hanna. She said something to Mike about his fitting right in and Mike told her it was really easy. He found everyone to be quite friendly.
When the Morrison's gate phone rang, Terri went to answer it, and Mary and Joanna headed out of the pool to help the pizza delivery person. Marsh got the impression they knew and liked this gal, Sue, who delivered the pizza. That told him they ordered quite a bit of pizza delivery, if several of them had her cell number, and were right on the spot to help her.
Becca made another weak try at excusing herself and Mike, but Mike had committed them to staying and sharing with the Morrisons, and she didn't really try that hard. Marsh had already decided that if Becca seemed really uncomfortable with staying, he would leave. She wasn't. He didn't.
It looked to Marsh like there were plenty of chairs to sit in, but there definitely wasn't room at the table for everyone to sit comfortably around the one table, so the guys all deferred to the gals. The girls all sat around the table, and the boys all took a plate of food and stood at the edge of the deck, using the safety rail as a place to set their plates.
As the two groups ate there were two entirely different moods surrounding the two groups. The girls were kinda loud and animated. Over where the guys were standing there seemed to be a quiet theme. Ted continued to ask Mike questions about his past and present life situation. Marsh made a point of being truthful, but he did avoid a few of the deeper details.
Mike promised both Ted and Dan that they would get many more answers to their questions a little later when they could go with "Mike", and get a tour of some of his facilities.
Kim left the girls table and came over to invite the guys to come back and join them. Mike suggested they could have their girlie discussion and just look over at the guys for eye candy. Kim made an exaggerated inspection of "Mike" and told him that she did like what she saw.
Marsh was a bit embarrassed as Kim did her inspection and made her comment. He quickly took a bite of salad and mumbled that his mother had taught him not to talk with his mouth full. Everyone in the small group at the deck side knew he was trying to change the subject and they all laughed.
When the laughter died away, Kim leaned into Mike, pressing her naked body against the side of his. Her C-cup titties pressed on his arm and his chest as she asked if she could get a truthful answer from him.
Mike put one arm around Kim's waist, and pulled her close. He looked her deep in the eyes and assured her that he would try his best to be truthful.
In a hushed voice Kim asked Mike about the fresh cut/wound on his left shoulder. Kim watched his face as Mike tried to formulate a truthful answer, that wouldn't sound like he was whining about getting hurt defending the kitchen he had destroyed.
Dan suddenly realized what was going on in Mike's head. "You were Judy's partner that morning weren't you? You got that here, defending my home, didn't you?"
Mike saw the recognition and admiration in Kim's face as well. He carefully chose his response, "I can't confirm nor will I deny your suspicions. It's only a scratch so it's nothing to worry about. Someone was throwing out a piece of trash and I got in the way."
Kim, Dan, and Ted all quickly figured out that Mike was downplaying the seriousness of the situation. Mike himself and Judy had tried to convince Joanna that she had killed a notable mercenary bad guy. The rest of the team that had been sent to his home probably weren't just a bunch of pansies, and that Mike was probably lucky to only have one six inch laceration. The friends of the Morrisons, that were here that night, were definitely fortunate Mike and Judy had been here.
Dan decided he needed to change the subject again so he told Mike he wanted to ask him a personal question. Mike thought they were never going to quit trying to get him to confess that he was a serial killer or something. Dan's question turned out to be about his and Judy's lack of tan lines. He wanted to know if Mike and Judy were nudists.
Marsh again studied his response. When he told Dan that he preferred to run without clothes, there was an immediate response from Joanna. She ran over to clarify what she had heard. Mike and Joanna discussed their running habits and their sometime partners.
Dan brought up Joanna's work situation and told everyone he had offered her a job. That brought both Ted and Mike to attention. Ted spoke of his desire to have an officer with Joanna's abilities on his streets. Mike told everyone he thought Joanna would make a great member of his security team. Joanna was in her glory, having three men wanting her services. Judy jumped into the fray, on behalf of Mike's offer trying to help Joanna choose a job with Mike's company.
Mike asked Dan to go for a short walk with him so that they could talk. Dan asked if Ted could come along, and Mike saw no problem with it. Mike led Dan and Ted off of the deck and out into Dan's back yard. They walked just far enough to be out of ear-shot of the people on the deck.
Mike began by telling Dan he didn't want to start a conflict, but that one of the main reasons he was here tonight was to recruit Joanna to come to work for him. "I really don't want to step on any toes," Mike said. "But it makes a lot of sense to bring her onto my payroll, and keep her here as the head of the taskforce that is covering your security detail." Mike continued by telling Dan that he could start Joanna at a rather healthy salary and that his company would be making money by hiring her.
Next Mike told Dan and Ted that some of his associates. Had offered some reward money to compensate the person that had eliminated The Butcher. Mike left out the source of the potential reward money. Dan and Ted didn't need to know all of Mike's connections. Ted in particular might not understand that Mike had grown up in the home of one of the highest ranking Sicilian Mob families.
When Ted asked him what kind of reward money Mike was talking about, Marsh did some quick calculations in his head. He knew that few rank and file police officers made more than $75,000.00 a year. He knew that Joanna's reward would be no less than a million dollars, and quite possibly more when the families all kicked in.
"Ted, to be truthful I don't know the total yet, but I can tell you that she can't make that much in ten years with your department."
Now the shit hit the fan, so to speak.
"Holy shit!" Dan exclaimed. "Who the hell are you, Mike? Where do you get that kind of money? Are you some fucking oil sheik? Do you own one of the Emirates or something?"
"No Dan, but a company I own, provides security for some of them." Mike replied matter-of-factly.
"No fucking shit," Ted blurted out. "You're just full of surprises, aren't you?"
Marsh could tell he had succeeded in impressing his new neighbors. "My God!" Dan continued. Now it's me that doesn't want to get in a bidding war, Mike. You can probably afford to hire everybody here on the estate."
Mike hummed an affirmation. "I could probably do that Dan. I can use people who know how to get business done. Each of you has a special expertise in your field which would be beneficial to my companies. Think about it Dan, I could send you to the sandbox in the northern part of Africa while I assign Kim and Beth to some cushy jobs at my home office, right across the street."
"Oh, and Ted, how's your Spanish? I have some outposts in South America where I could use your expertise and send Marion across the street to my local control room."
Dan took a step ahead of Marsh and stopped. He looked the man he knew only as Mike in the eyes. Then he spoke. "Mike, I know that isn't your real name, and I don't know if I'm seeing your real face or not. The way you just made the suggestions you made, I have no doubt that you could in fact do just what you said. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't do any of it quite like that, but I'll tell you right now, I'm glad you told me you want to be friends, because I'd sure hate to make you an enemy."
"Dan," Mike began. "While I've got your attention, how jammed up is your schedule for tomorrow? I'd like to take you and Ted to lunch, along with your wives. That would be Kim, Beth, and Marion, if I have it figured right. We'd be out for a couple of hours."
"Mike, you are not the average emergency room doctor, are you? You've got my curiosity piqued. I'll make the time if Ted will. I can make sure Beth has the time, and we can ask Kim if she can get free when we get back to the deck."
Ted answered quickly. "I'll make the time as well, Dan. As I guess you both know, Marion works for me, so I can bring her as well. Seems to me Mike knows as much about us as we do. This is getting scary."
Mike smiled and said, "I guess I better go see if I can talk Kim into going for a helicopter ride tomorrow, eh?"
Mike, Dan, and Ted finished the walk back to the deck where the ladies had conversations going on in several places. As it turned out, Kim, Beth, Marion, and Judy were in a small group and Mike walked over next to Kim and Judy.
When there was a short break in their conversation Mike broke in. "Ladies, I'd like to interrupt for just a minute here. I have reliable information that three of you have an opening for a couple of hours for lunch tomorrow. The only question is, Kim, can I talk you into coming to lunch with me tomorrow? I would like to have my pilot drop on the lawn at Dan's office around 11:30, and fly you to a little place I know about, just up the road from your house."
Kim looked at Mike with a bit of shock on her face. "Your pilot? A place just up the road from my house?" Beth cut in. "And how do you know what my lunch plans are for tomorrow?"
Mike had a big smile on his face as he replied. "Fair questions, all. Marion and Beth, I already asked your bosses and your husbands if I could take you to lunch. I asked Kim's husband as well, but he doesn't have authority over Kim's schedule, so I have to ask her. Before anyone has to ask, since Judy works for me, if I tell her to be at Dan's office at 11:30, she just better be there."
"Whoa now big fella," Judy slowly toned. "Did you check with my fiancé about this? He might have something to say about you just ordering me to go to lunch with you."
"OK, OK." Mike backed up. Beth, I know you don't officially have a husband. Judy, I did check with your fiancé, and as it turns out he's OK with my plan. If you have a problem with going to lunch with these fine people, you don't have to go. I really would like to have Kim go with me though, and I really hope you'll go too, Judy."
"If Kim will come, I'll go as well." Judy finally agreed.
"I guess I can clear my calendar," said Kim.
"Great!" Marsh exclaimed. "Y'all have made my night."
Mike walked over to the group that included Terri and a couple others. "Terri," Mike asked. "How early can a guy call in on the gate phone, to get someone to open the gate, and not wake everyone in the house?"
"How early is someone likely to need the gate open?" Terri asked in reply.
Mike looked at Joanna asking, "Would 0630 be too early?"
"For what?" Joanna asked.
"Well I have a full day planned for tomorrow, and if I'm going to run with a couple of beautiful women, I need to get an early start. That's if any of the pretty ladies around here want to have my company for their run." Mike had a big smile on his face as he replied.
"At least one lady will be up and ready to open the gate for you Mike." Joanna answered quickly. "Terri, if you don't want to be up that early, I'll handle it."
"OK then," Mike spoke to everyone. "I've done all the damage I think I need to do here, this evening. I'll be ready for a run with the pretty ladies who want to run at 0630. Then I'll be looking forward to having lunch with the bosses and their husbands, meeting at Dan's office at 11:30. Judy, do you think we should get out of here so this family can catch their breath and a few winks of shut eye before we destroy their world tomorrow? Oh yeah, run in the morning is clothing optional. Personally, I prefer the option to run au' natural. Lunch is casual, or business casual clothed. Anyone have any questions?"
Mike looked at Judy. "What do you say beautiful? Do you think maybe we ought to leave this place before they call the cops and have us dragged out kicking and screaming?"
Kim smiled at Mike then at Judy. "Just to ease your fears, that is NOT likely to happen. Several of us have started to be quite fond of you both, even though we just met, and don't know your real names at this time. Kim stepped up to Mike and hugged him, then went a couple of steps to Judy and gave her a hug and a warm kiss on the mouth."
Without letting Kim go, Judy leaned her face back and looked deep into Kim's eyes. "Now that's something I could get into again. Let's get together some time."
There was a surprised look on Kim's face. She hadn't heard from Joanna, the story of what had taken place here a couple of nights ago. "I'm sure we can work something out," Kim replied. She leaned back into Judy and they locked in another warm, to hot kiss.
Mike tapped Judy on the shoulder. "Are you going with me, or do you think you'd rather stay and take your chances with Kim?"
Judy and Kim broke their lip-lock, and slowly let each other go. Kim looked at Mike, "Alright big guy, I'll let you take her with you this time, but don't count on it every time she's here. That girl and I have some exploration to do."
Mike smiled at Kim. "I may just have to give her a hand. She's a registered nurse, and licensed to do a lot of things, but for some procedures she needs a physician's supervision. I qualify."
The group on the Morrison's deck all broke into goodhearted laughter.
Terri walked over to Mike and Judy. "At my house we like to say goodbye with kisses and hugs." She was smiling broadly and all the ladies quickly formed a receiving line, giving Mike and Judy kisses and hugs from each of them. Ted, Kevin and Dan kissed and hugged Judy, but they tried to just shake Mike's hand. Mike would have none of that; he turned each handshake into a man-hug.
Hanna looked at Shelly. "I'd like to walk out to the car with them. Shelly, will you walk with me?"
Judy put her arm around Hanna's shoulders and the two of them led the way into the kitchen and through the house. Once outside the front door, Hanna stopped walking and turned to Judy and threw her arms around Judy and buried her face in her neck. Mike and Shelly continued off the front porch and out to the car before they stopped and talked quietly, while they waited.
Meanwhile, up on the front porch Judy and Hanna whispered back and forth for almost ten minutes. When they stepped back from each other both of them wiped their eyes with the back of their hand. Hanna leaned in and kissed Judy passionately before both of them turned and walked down the steps and over to the car where Mike and Shelly stood waiting.
Hanna wrapped her arms around Mike and pressed her naked body against his and said, "Thank you for all you do. I'll never know what I've done to have so many people step forward to help protect me but I want you to know, I feel safe now. Meeting both of you has made my day."
Judy stepped forward and joined Mike and Hanna forming a three way hug. Before they parted, Hanna kissed both of them and said, "Please come back when you can, I know the Morrisons will welcome you anytime.
Judy's voice cracked slightly when she said, "Sweetheart, please don't worry. Now that I've met you and Terri, I'll be back often. Both of you are very beautiful girls. Take care of yourself honey and remember there are people who will do anything to make sure you stay safe."
"I know," Hanna said, "I will never forget."
Marsh fired up the Bronco and drove down the driveway. "I think that really went well, Marsh." Becca said as they pulled out of the gate.
Marsh stopped to wait for the gate to close. "I think you're right, sweetheart. And thank you for being the instigator and the catalyst for all of this. It would have taken me a lot longer to make this much of an opening."
"Hmmmpphh." Becca retorted. "There were a bunch of ladies there that were ready to eat out of your hand, or your...."
"Easy there my beautiful almost wife." Marsh replied. "There wasn't one XY challenged specimen there that wouldn't have liked to spend some more time exploring your charms, either, as well as the XX variety. You can have either. I'm limited."
Becca laughed at Marsh's attempt to be pitiful. "Marsh?" she queried. You know you are at the top of my list, right? I know you love me more than anyone else does or ever has. And I know when all is said and done; you and I will always be the answer to each other's final question."
"Yes my love. I have no doubt." Marsh looked at Becca and smiled. "I wish I wasn't driving at the moment, but let's get this hot-rod home, and get a few hours of sleep so we can keep up with that hot brunette cop in the morning. You're coming with us, right?"
"I wouldn't miss it." Becca quickly replied. "If she's here, mom may want to join us, too."
"That's Ok with me," Marsh said. "The more the merrier. I love your mother almost as much as I love you, sweetheart. She's always welcome to come with us."
"I know Marsh. It's another reason I love you the way I do. You have a great big heart, and you give freely from it. You're quite the man Marshall Mitchel." Becca sounded almost reverent.
"And you make that possible, Rebecca Andrews." Marsh answered.
They were at the house, and Marsh drove close to the garage wall side of the driveway. He reached out and entered his entry code, and while the big door opened, Marsh moved into position to back into the opening in front of Becca's new truck. As he backed the Bronco into the garage, Marsh thought he needed to get himself moving on getting Becca her Excursion, so he could have the truck back.
Marsh and Becca walked across the driveway, and entered the house through the kitchen door. There was one light on so they could see to walk through, and they climbed the stairs quickly but quietly. There was a light on in their bedroom and when they walked in, Trish dropped the book she was reading, and jumped up from the love seat and ran over to greet them.
"Marguarita went up to Rick's house again, and I didn't want to go to bed alone." She told them. "I'm so glad you're home.
Marsh wrapped Trish in his arms and walked into the big front closet. "I'm glad to see you, too." He said. "This has been a long day, and I have to be up early. Let's get this daughter of yours into the shower, get us all cleaned up a little, and get a couple of hours of sleep."
Marsh set Trish on the floor, and pulled her T-shirt over her head. That was all she was wearing, so Marsh led her and Becca into the bathroom, where the two female types used the toilet and the bidet, and Marsh adjusted the water in the showers.
While they were washing each other's parts, Marsh told Trish about the running appointment in the morning, and asked if she would like to come with him. She could sleep in till 0630, and he could pick her up when he stopped for Becca and Wolf.
Trish groaned, and told him she would sleep on it. If she felt like getting up and running, she would be ready when he came by.
After they all took turns drying each other, they all went straight to the big bed. Marsh got in the middle, and Becca and Trish parked themselves on each side of him. All three were asleep shortly after their heads hit the pillows.
It seemed that Marsh had just closed his eyes when the alarm on his phone started to ring, telling him it was time to get up and get going. He kissed both of the beautiful ladies on the bed with him and went into the bathroom to take a leak and then brush his teeth. He picked up his belt pack for running, and walked out to the garage. The door rolled up at his numerical command, and the Bronco roared to life with a turn of the key.
Marsh pulled the little steed out into the driveway and hopped out to tell the garage door to close again. He watched it roll down, and then drove down to the main road that transected the ranch. Jimmy was sitting on his front porch swing, and waved to Marsh as he drove by. Marsh waved back and drove the rest of the way to the gate.
After he waited for the ranch gate to close, he drove the distance down the road to the Morrison's estate. It was all he could do to push the call button. He was going to have to get permission from Dan to use his own code to open the gate. Terri sounded bright and cheery when she answered the gate phone, and opened the gate right away. She reminded him to wait for the gate to close, and come on up to the house because Joanna wasn't quite ready. Marsh listened to Terri's voice and it brought an image of her to his memory. God she was a pretty little thing.
Marsh was parking the Bronco when the front door opened and Joanna appeared to hold the screen door open. She led him into the kitchen, where Terri offered him coffee, OJ, or... He didn't let her finish as he asked for just some water. Terri got up quickly and returned from a quick trip to the refrigerator with a bottle of water. Marsh unscrewed the top and took a sip of the water as he listened to the continuation of a conversation that Dan, Terri, and Joanna had started before he had arrived.
Joanna seemed excited about some trip Dan had apparently just asked her to accompany him on. Knowing it was actually none of his business Marsh decided to be snoopy and asked where they were going.
Dan told him they were going to the north shore of Oahu for a long weekend. Dan's former boss had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, given six months or less to live, and had never taken the time to enjoy life with his family. Dan had arraigned this trip in the last few days and had booked some private luxury cottages to stay in. Marsh made mental note to call another of his old med school buddies at the Loma Linda University Cancer center and ask a couple of questions about that particular cancer, and the treatment options. Who knows, maybe Patrick could add a few months or more with their new star wars Proton Beam Accelerator. A quick phone call couldn't hurt anything.
After a little more excited banter between Joanna and Dan, she took Marsh's arm and told him she was ready to go for her run. Dan said he'd walk to the door with them and lock it when they walked out. Marsh opened the Bronco door for Joanna, before he ran around to the driver's side, and started the Bronco as he climbed in.
"Cool car." Joanna said as they rolled down the driveway. "What is it?"
"This is a 1970 Ford Bronco." Marsh told her. "A lot of people see that it's a small 4X4, and automatically call it a Jeep. It's not a Jeep, and most Bronco owners get kinda huffy if someone calls theirs one. It's an ego thing and there's quite a bit of "usually" friendly discord between the owners of the two kinds of toys."
The Bronco had a remote for the bull-pen and the gate to get in there. Marsh drove the two miles from Dan's gate to the bull-pen gate. He stopped just inside the gate to explain a little to Joanna, before he opened the bull-pen.
Stopped facing towards the hill, covered with a pile of rocks, Joanna looked at Marsh, and laughed out loud at him when he told her he was going to drive in the entrance to the parking garage and show her a piece of the Turner Security command and control system. First he wanted to confirm that she had been right last night. He was the guy that had been on TV a couple of days ago. The hair he had on last night was a wig. This shoulder length brown mop was his own.
His name was Marshall Mitchel, and he was an emergency room physician from southern California. He was a member/employee of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, and he had worked worldwide with law enforcement and military units for the last four years.
Marsh was serious about wanting Joanna to come to work for him, and if she didn't want to go back to the jail, she could come on his payroll as soon as she gave him the word. He told her of the discussion he had had with Dan last night, and he was going to talk to him while they were at lunch today.
"Joanna, there's another thing I think you should know." Marsh said. "I have contacts in law enforcement around the world. My father was a Navy SEAL till he disappeared twenty something years ago, so I have a lot of military connections. And you should know that my neighbor and best friend through grade school and high school was the son of one of the Sicilian Family's major bosses. I lived in Victor Martinelli's home more than I lived in my own. Mama Vicky was as much my mother as my own."
"Joanna, the afternoon before the break-in at the Morrison's house I killed Victor Martinelli's grandson, who was my best friend's son. That night I came into the Morrison's kitchen right after you killed Tony Martinelli. His father is Victor's brother. I knew Tony when we were kids, and I considered him my cousin. Everybody knew he was bad, and I'll tell you the truth. His father and his uncles were trying to figure out a safe way to put a contract on him. They were afraid he would live long enough to be pissed and come back and kill them. He was that bad.
"The day after that, I flew home and went to the Martinelli's house and told them what you and I had done. I was scared Joanna. The four men and one woman I had to talk to have a reputation that I'm sure you have heard about."
Marsh paused, and Joanna spoke. "Mi...Marsh is it? Am I in any danger? I killed The Butcher. You called him Tony Martinelli. If his father is mad..."
"No Joanna, No! You are in absolutely no danger." Marsh reassured her. I went to face the music, so to speak, I told Mario I had killed his son, and told Mama Vicky I had killed her grandson. To tell the truth Joanna, I was more afraid of hurting Mama Vicky than the rest of the family. I love Mama Vicky more than I can tell you and when I figured out that I had killed her Tommy, I was in fear that Mama would kill me herself. That Sicilian matriarch is fiercely protective of her children. Fortunately I'm one of her children and I had a DVD of the killing. Everybody at the Martinelli home saw that I didn't have a choice, and they gave me points for coming to them and "confessing" what I had done."
"I also told them that it was my team that had arraigned Tony's death. They don't or at least didn't know your name. They didn't know about either of the killings until I told them and they wrapped me in their love. Joanna, I was blown away. They told me how much they appreciated my courage for coming to tell them myself. I had lunch with them and then I was sent home with their blessings."
"That brings me to one more small matter. Joanna there is a reward for you for killing The Butcher. The Sicilian family wants to show respect and appreciation to the person who cleaned up their mess for them. I talked to Ted, and you can't accept reward money while you are working for the police department. You can accept a reward if you work for me or Dan. It's significant Joanna. There are a lot of people, both good and bad, who wanted Tony out of business, and they want to show you their appreciation. I'm going to ask you not to give me a hard time about this. I know you think you were just doing your job. Dan Morrison, Ted Johnson, Marshall Mitchel, and a bunch of the Martinelli family think you went above and beyond."
"Bottom line, my first choice is for you to take a position with Turner Security, and head up the Powell/Lindquist protective detail. I don't care where you live. Dan wants you at his house, and that's OK with me. When the actual detail is finished we will have a lot of other options for you. I already want to see if you'd like to be a shooting and personal safety instructor. You're good Joanna, and you have a high level of integrity. That's what our company needs."
"Don't answer me right now. Look at what I'm going to show you today. Talk to Ted and Dan. Consider all your options. Take into account that when you quit the police force, you can afford to live off the reward money for at least ten years, if you use the reward money at the rate of your current sal..."
Joanna's eyes were as big as saucers as she interrupted Marsh. "Say what!" she exclaimed. "Marsh how much is the reward? I make between 45 and 50K right now and I expect I will get a raise or two in ten years. Marsh????"
"Yes Joanna. The reward is at least a million dollars. Antonio, Tony's dad said there were some families that hadn't weighed in yet, but you're going to be well compensated for what you have done."
"Holy Shit! Marsh! That's not a reward. That's the fucking lottery! I've never bought a ticket. A million dollars?!! HOLY SHIT! Marsh! Can I kiss you?"
"I'd love it if you did, but you don't have to have an excuse like a million dollars. You need to know I can get kisses much cheaper than that." Marsh was laughing as Joanna unbuckled her seatbelt and basically jumped into Marsh's lap. "Holy shit!" She repeated.
After several dozen kisses, and a long continuous hug, Joanna moved back to her own seat, and Marsh reached into the back seat. He pulled a white terrycloth robe out and handed it to Joanna, and then reached another one for himself.
"What's this for?" Joanna asked.
"Don't give me any shit, girl. Just put on the robe. There are a few guys in here that I don't want to share this picture with, in real time." Marsh replied.
Joanna slipped the robe on, and Marsh reached up to the visor where the remote was hooked. The bull-pen door opened slowly and Marsh drove into the expansive parking area. Joanna's mouth dropped open as she looked around. Marsh pushed the button again, and the door closed behind them.
When Joanna could compose rational thoughts she spoke. "Marsh? What is this place? This.... This is... What is it?" She asked.
"We call it the bull-pen, Joanna. We bring some of the local bad guys here for friendly discussions of their wayward ways, and arrange for them to repent and rehabilitate. Some of them aren't as cooperative as we would like, so we have therapy sessions for them. Most of them see a lessor light before we show them the bright light at the end of the tunnel."
"Marsh, what are you saying? You don't execute prisoners here, do you?"
"Oh no, sweetheart we never do that here." Marsh tried to keep a straight face, but it didn't work.
"Marsh!" Joanna said with conviction. "Really, what is this place?"
"Come with me," Marsh said. "I'll show you around."
Joanna opened her door and dropped out of the Bronco. She walked around to where Marsh was walking toward a wall with darkened glass windows and several steel doors. He led her to the first door and ushered her into a dimly lit room with a very large bank of big screen, hi-def monitors. There were several computer stations and there were three operators at three of the stations. There were communications radios, and she saw a couple of teletype sort of terminals, as well as laser printers and a couple of fax machines. Joanna was amazed at the variety of very high tech devices. She knew what most of it was, but there was equipment in here that she was pretty sure was classified military grade stuff.
Marsh led her over to one of the empty stations. He let her watch for quite a while before he asked her if she knew what she was looking at.
"Damn, Marsh," Joanna replied. "You've got all kinds of state of the art communications and monitoring equipment here. I learned about some of this stuff in college, but this goes way beyond anything I've been exposed to."
"Marsh, is that a satellite view of the Morrison estate right there?"
Marsh smiled up at Joanna. "You see anything or anyone you recognize?" Marsh started to play with the mouse in front of him. He zoomed in on Dan's back deck, where Mary, Shelly, Terri, and Hanna were coming and going as they were getting ready for something. Marsh moved the camera, and zoomed in on Joanna's car. He then zoomed in on the console between her front seats, and showed her the CD cover that was sitting there. She could read the printing on the cover.
"Marsh," Joanna said softly. "Is this military feeds? Do you have agreements in place with the government? This is even better that most military stuff, isn't it?"
"Yes, Joanna." Marsh replied. "This is well beyond most of what the military and the three letter government agencies have. My boss/partner has been in the surveillance and security business since he got out of the Navy in the sixties. His engineers are on the cutting edge of the technology, and we manufacture satellite communications equipment that we use before we can sell it. We own our own satellites, and we can control all of our own cameras, radios, and some other stuff I'm not allowed to talk about."
"Some of it is pretty basic stuff. Some of it is hard for stupid people like me and you to understand. Please don't take that wrong Joanna. I don't think either of us is stupid, but compared to some of our engineers and designers, we sometimes look that way. Most of them have no people skills and can't carry on a conversation with the general public, but they're geniuses in their specialties."
"Joanna, the morning you killed Tony, this room was empty. There were supposed to be two people here at all times, but one called in sick and the other one came in shit faced drunk and completely non-functional. As I'm sure you could guess, he doesn't work here since that morning. Tony would not have gotten into Dan's house if our people had not screwed up. I'm just glad none of you got hurt." Let's go see some more of what's here."
Marsh led Joanna to his office, Becca's office and the dressing rooms that they shared for getting ready for under cover surveillance. He showed her a few of Becca's masks, and wigs, as well as a large selection of colored contacts, for changing eye color.
"Our artist has a lab here and a couple in other locations. He's over in Europe right now working up some disguises for a couple of our people in Germany."
"Let's go over here," Marsh led the way to a door that opened to another hallway with rooms all along the distance. There were three "interview" rooms, and three holding cells. Everything was empty at the moment.
"Tony's drivers spent a little time in here," Marsh told her. "They took some music lessons and were choir boys before they left. We got a lot of valuable intel from them, before they went away."
"Joanna, this bull-pen is why your department hasn't been able to catch any of the drivers of the cars that bring the bad guys out to Dan's house. We open this up and bring them in here, so they just disappear."
"Let's go up to the house and see who all is going to run with us. On the way you can ask me any questions you want, and I'll give you as honest answers as I know. I'm still very new to this and have a lot to learn."
Marsh turned left as soon as he drove out of the bull-pen, and drove up the "back" road to the hanger and then up the main road up to his driveway. He stopped the Bronco next to the back door to the house and invited Joanna in through the kitchen door.
Becca and Trish were both sitting at the breakfast bar, talking to Marguarita. Marsh introduced Joanna to Trish and Mama. They both greeted her warmly. Mama rushed over and gave Joanna a tight hug. "Welcome to my kitchen, mi Niña," she welcomed. "Can I get you anything to drink? I have many juices and lots of water."
Joanna declined.
Trish was dressed for work, and was eating breakfast. Becca was wearing her running shoes and her waist pack. She had put Wolf's vest on him so he was ready to go also.
Becca came around the counter and gave Joanna a hug and a kiss, while Marsh went over and gave the same treatment to Trish. "God you look delicious this morning," he complimented.
Joanna spoke up, "I'll second that notion. You look positively edible."
Trish smiled. "Maybe later, for now, I need to go down and pick up my carpool buddies."
Marsh walked Trish out to her car. He wrapped her in a big bear hug, and kissed her warmly. "I love you Trish." He told her. "I am sure glad your father got us together."
Trish looked up at Marsh and replied, "Me too, Marsh. You're the best thing that's happened to me in my whole lifetime. Thank you for being here for me, and having faith in me. I'm having to learn a lot to keep up with all the new things you've asked me to take on, but surprisingly, I can do it. At first I was afraid, but you and Becca are right there backing me, and I'm getting stronger every day. Jenni and Sue help me a lot too. Thanks for bringing them into the family. Now I better go pick them up, so we can get to work. I have an 0800 appointment with some contractors."
Trish got in her car and pulled out of the garage. She waved at Becca and Joanna who were just walking out of the kitchen, with Wolf.
Becca suggested that they should leave the Bronco right where it sat, and start their run from here. Marsh said he was going to use the Bronco for his stretching before they took off. He was joined by both Becca and Joanna. The three of them stretched and joked with each other. Wolf lay down next to the Bronco and watched. He was ready to go, on an instants notice.
Becca stopped in the middle of a stretch. She stood up and cocked her head looking at Joanna. "Joanna, I've heard you use Marsh's real name since you got here. I haven't heard you use mine. Did he tell you who I am?
Joanna and Marsh both stopped their warn ups, and Joanna looked back at Becca. "No, He showed me around the bull-pen, and let me see your dressing room. I know some of the colors your hair can be. I've got to say you look beautiful this morning, and I have no clue if you're real, or if you're Memorex."
Marsh and Becca both laughed with her. Becca walked around the corner of the Bronco and hugged Joanna. "Thank you for that compliment. What you see is who I am. Joanna, my name is Rebecca Andrews. I'm soon going to get a name change, however. Marsh has promised to make it Mitchel soon. I would like it to happen very soon. I don't want you or any of those other beauty queens you hang out with to get a chance to steal him away from me. I don't mind sharing him with any of you, and he said he'd share me as well, but I want everyone to know he's MINE!"
"Congratulations girl!" Joanna replied. "I don't know either of you as well as I hope to, but from my quick observation, you're getting yourself a good man. Is that the ring he gave you?" Joanna picked up Becca's left hand, and inspected it. She asked Marsh to come around to where she and Becca were standing. She picked up the rings that Marsh was wearing around his neck, and lifted Becca's hand so that she could compare the rings.
"You had these all custom made, didn't you Marsh?" They are all beautiful and they are very similar." Joanna admired the rings.
"Guilty, as charged," Marsh laughed. "Mita's brother made them all. I specified the design of the first ones. He took them and copied them for the new ones. The diamond band for Becca's ring will be welded on as the wedding band, and He made me a platinum wedding band that matches her engagement ring."
"I have a hard time comprehending how lucky or blessed I am to have found this woman. I was robbed of her sister and her niece four years ago and I never would have thought there would be another woman just as good or maybe even better. The rings pay tribute to my loss, and remind both of us of the deep lasting love we have."
Marsh stepped around Joanna to embrace Becca and give her a warm kiss. He turned and pulled Joanna into the hug, making a three way group hug. "I'm glad you have come into our lives, too, Joanna. I think you are going to be a fantastic part of our family from now on."
Joanna turned a bright shade of red. "I hope I can live up to your expectations, Marsh." She replied.
Marsh spoke to Wolf. "OK partner, what do you say we take these foxes out and run them a little bit? Wolf was on his feet and galloping down the gravel road instantly, followed closely by Becca, Joanna and Marsh.
As they ran past the old looking barn, Marsh told Joanna to remind him to show her the inside and the rear of the old building. They kept up the pace to the trail junction, and Marsh told Wolf to lead the way up the hill. As he usually did, Wolf led at just the right pace for the slowest of the runners. Marsh couldn't really tell who that was. They were all running at a pace that was comfortable for him.
When they got to the antenna farm, Marsh slowed the pace just a little so he could talk to Joanna about the various equipment tied into these antennae and about the system back-ups that were in place.
Joanna asked several very astute questions that told Marsh that she knew a lot about the electronic communication equipment his company operated. Marsh was glad he knew enough about the equipment to answer her questions intelligently.
After they had circled the antenna farm, Marsh led them back to a trail he had seen that went off in the direction of the stream. He thought it probably met the trail he had seen that went up the north side of the stream behind the cabin he had discovered and taken Trish and Becca to. He was right, and soon Wolf was leading the way downhill beside the stream.
Joanna and Becca both commented on the beauty of the forest along the trail they were running on. Marsh insisted it wasn't his fault. He told them he was pretty sure that there was a God who had built the forest, and that he was also sure that their friend James Turner had purchased the property. The girls accepted his assessment.
The forest was beautiful along the stream. There were a lot of birds and several small animals, in the trees. There were also a lot of wild flowers. The trail came through a small meadow, and the little group startled a family of whitetail deer, a doe and two fawns. In just a few more minutes, the runners arrived at the cabin.
The cabin wasn't locked, and Marsh opened the back door to enter the cabin kitchen. Wolf and the girls followed him in. Marsh opened the front door as well, and the girls walked through the cabin, checking out what was in it. The cabin had electricity, and running water, but there was no bathroom. Marsh looked out in back and found an outhouse, which had been modified with a flush toilet. There was an outdoor shower on the side of the building.
Marsh found that Jimmy, or someone he had hired, had installed a small instant water heater. The apartment sized refrigerator had bottles of water chilled inside it and it had an ice-maker, so there were ice cubes. There was no perishable food in the cabin, but there was a coffee maker and some coffee packets for making a single cup at a time. The last/only time Marsh had been here was with Trish and Becca at almost sundown, and they had not gone through the cabin to see what was here.
With both back and front doors open there was a bit of a breeze that blew through the cabin, and the slight musty smell cleared out quickly.
Joanna walked into the bedroom and flopped down on the bed, on her back. Becca was right behind her, and stopped only briefly as she said. "Mmmmm, that looks delicious. May I have a taste?"
Joanna quickly replied, "You certainly may, help yourself."
Becca dove in face first and started to attack Joanna's sweet pussy with her lips, tongue and fingers. Joanna didn't even try to be quiet. She began to moan and beg for more.
Marsh heard the commotion and walked into the bedroom. He cupped his hand first on Becca's ass, then slid his hand down and slid his fingers along the outside of her pussy. "Mmmmm," Becca hummed. "Don't just tease me, lover boy. I'm ready! Slide your beautiful cock in there."
Marsh wasn't quite ready to give her the satisfaction, so he ran his fingers up and down Becca's wonderfully wet slit.
Joanna was wailing something about coming. Her body was shaking and her head was rolling from side to side. Becca kept her tongue in Joanna's hot pussy, alternating between slipping it into her love tunnel and massaging her clit. No one could keep track of how many orgasms she had.
Marsh finally gave in and slipped his cock into Becca's scalding pussy. She had definitely been right about being ready. Her tunnel was still tight, but she was very wet. Marsh was in balls deep in two strokes.
He set up a slow smooth rhythm, and slipped in and out, pulling his cock out till the head was only halfway in her, then reversing and plunging as deep as he could go.
Becca was soon at her first peak. She exploded with pleasure, and stopped her attack on Joanna momentarily. Joanna started to relax, thinking Becca was finished. NOT! Becca's first climax was winding down when she put two fingers into Joanna's pussy, and searched out her G-spot. Her fingers strummed the happy place, and her lips locked around Joanna's clit. She flicked the end with her tongue and Joanna went into orbit.
As Marsh watched Joanna stiffen and arch her back, quivering under Becca's relentless assault, he felt the beginning of the end. His balls churned, and his hot load of cum boiled out through his cock. With a final thrust, both he and Becca experienced a climax worthy of a letter home. Marsh decided he wasn't going to write home about it, but he was spent.
He collapsed on Becca's back, panting and gasping for breath. Becca collapsed onto Joanna, and all three of them spent the next fifteen minutes recovering and re-learning to breathe.
Joanna recovered enough to speak first. "Oh - My - God!" She exclaimed. "You two are fun to watch all by yourselves. To have Becca attacking my pussy at the same time could be lethal. Oh Becca! Thank you, thank you, and Thank you! That was marvelous."
Marsh was next to get his voice back. "Joanna, you and Becca are worth the price of admission, too. It doesn't matter what the price is. I'm in. Becca, my dear, if you ever want to have Joanna just to yourself, Do NOT attack her where I can see the two of you. You two are just too darn sexy!"
Becca responded softly. "Thank... you... both! This was fannn - tastic!
All three of them laid there for another five or ten minutes, before Marsh suggested they should probably head home and get ready to fly over to pick up the Morrison bosses. Marsh looked at Joanna and asked, "Would you mind coming with us and eating lunch with us and the Morrisons and the Johnsons?"
"I'll follow you anywhere." Joanna smiled as she replied. "I should probably get some clothes though. I don't know where you're taking the crowd to eat, but they probably have a dress code beyond wearing just a pair of running shoes."
Becca quickly told her that she probably had a sun dress that would be appropriate, and a pair of sandals that she could wear.
"That works," Marsh responded. He got off the bed, and went out to the outdoor shower. It was not as big as the multi-head luxury space in the bathrooms at the home, but it got the sweat off of everybody. Marsh picked Becca up and inverted her again so she could wash out their sex juices. Joanna thought it looked like fun, so when Becca was all washed out, Marsh did the same for her. They all laughed and had a good time. They closed up the cabin, and Wolf led them back to the house.
Marsh put on his business suit, consisting of a pair of Wranglers and a western shirt. He clipped his badge on the outside of his belt, and slipped his Sig and its DOS holster just inside the belt. You had to be looking for it to tell that the pistol was behind the badge. The boot cut Wranglers covered all but the toes of his boots. Marsh sat down on the bench seat in the closet, and watched Becca and Joanna try to figure out what would look good together. They needed to be sure they were color coordinated. They decided on a medium blue and white sun dress for Joanna, and Becca would wear a flight suit that was almost the same blue. Joanna found just the right pair of sandals, and Becca wore her flight boots. The sundress was a skoshe big but with a sash tie it looked quite fine. Marsh told her so.
All three of them ran down the stairs, gave Marguarita hugs and kisses, and hopped into the Bronco that was parked just outside the door. It was a quick trip to the barn/hanger down by Jimmy's house, and Becca and Marsh did their usual walk around inspection. It was a few minutes before 1100, and Marsh asked Becca if there was time to trade the 230 for one of the 412s. He figured it would be easier to give a helicopter tour if everyone could be next to the door. That was easier to do in the 412.
Becca fired up the turbines, everyone buckled in, and they flew up to the training base where they landed the 230, and the mechanic had a 412 clean, fueled and ready to fly. They were airborne by 1115, and the flight to Dan's office building took fourteen minutes, so they landed right on time.
Becca put the helo down on the grass, and waved to Dan and the others to come over to the helicopter. Beth and Kim were wearing suits with skirts, and they were not ready for the rotor wash. Both ladies' skirts flew up to their waists and everyone in the vicinity got a chance to check out their legs, up to the top of their pretty lace panties.
Marsh got out of the copilots seat, and helped everyone climb into the 412 and buckle up. Marsh slid the back door closed and climbed back into his seat. Becca began to lift off as Marsh put his headset back on. There were headsets in the storage compartment for all the passengers in the back, but Marsh had decided not to make them put them on till after lunch.
Becca rose above the office building, and turned the helicopter in a northeasterly direction. The flight direction would take them to the Turner Ranch, or with a slight deviation, over Dan Morrison's estate. Marsh had asked Becca to fly over the estate first, then to fly to the Turner Company Restaurant, The Hole.
The helo flew low over Dan and Kim's house and back yard, and their yard guy, Tony Williams looked up and waved to whoever was in the low-flying helicopter. Becca turned around to the left which took them over the Turner Ranch, and then she made a right turn, and flew the few miles to The Hole. The landing at The Hole was routine, and like yesterday, there were already three helicopters on the pad. One of them was the Super Cobra that was used to patrol the local area and keep an eye on the Morrison and the Simpson homes.
After the turbines were shut down, Becca and Marsh stepped out of the helicopter, and Becca removed her flight helmet. Kim seemed to be blown away. Marsh wasn't sure if she was surprised by the fact that his pilot was female, or if she was just struck by Becca's beauty. She blurted out a compliment that was meant to compliment Becca, but she addressed Marsh. Becca and Marsh both laughed and Becca acted like Kim had spoken directly to her as she responded to Kim's compliment. "Why thank you ma'am. That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me."
Marsh, Becca and Joanna all laughed as everyone gasped and recognized the voice of "Judy". They had not expected first; a lady pilot, second; an absolutely gorgeous woman, and finally; that the beautiful pilot was the woman they knew as "Judy".
After everyone recovered, Marsh invited them all to get out of the helicopter, and come into the restaurant. He walked over and held the doors open for all of them to enter. Dan appeared to like the doors, and really liked the bar. Marsh liked it, too.
Marsh held one of the big oak doors open for everyone to walk into the restaurant. Ginny hurried over to Marsh and welcomed him to The Hole. Marsh stood with his hand on Ginny's shoulder, and introduced each of his guests. Ginny introduced herself to the group and told Marsh that his room was ready for him. Then she led them all around the bar, and into the room that they had eaten in yesterday.
Marsh stood at the end of the conference table and waited till everyone was seated. He looked at the beautiful red-head that was sitting right next to him. Marsh's thoughts raced. He wondered how Dan and his family would take the revelations he was about to make. He wondered how much, if any, damage it might do, to reveal the things he was about to reveal to the police officer at the table. Marsh asked Becca if she was ready, and Becca told him she was as ready as she could be.
Marsh pulled out his chair and sat at the head of the table. After a deep cleansing breath he proceeded to tell Dan and his family who he was, where he was from, and why he was here. He introduced Becca also, and told everyone what they did, and what they were planning to do, as far as keeping everyone safe in general, Terri, Hanna, and the Simpsons in particular. He tried to cover everything that he could in the short timeframe of a lunch meeting.
Marsh called Ginny and asked her to send in someone to take food orders. Jack Davis and Teresa Gonzalez came in within just a couple minutes. Marsh had told the Morrisons and the Johnsons a little about The Hole, so they were almost prepared. As each person ordered what they wanted, they were given a myriad of choices of side dishes and drinks. Each chef went down one side of the table and took the orders. Becca and Marsh both spoke to Teresa in Spanish. Marsh asked if Teresa would make him a combination plate with a chili relleno, a cheese enchilada, with rice and beans. He also asked her to put some huevos revueltos (scrambled eggs) on the rice and beans. Teresa smiled, and thanked him and Becca for ordering in her native language. She told both of them that she would make them some fresh tortillas to go with their Mexican style meals.
When the chef's had the orders they left for the kitchen, and Marsh and Becca began to answer questions from their guests. Marsh was pleased that either he or Becca were able to answer each question, honestly. They held nothing back. For Marsh it was refreshing to be able to tell his neighbors know who he really was. Marsh was not into deceptions.
The chefs who made the food also served it. Jack Davis poured the wines for those who ordered them. Everyone was pleased with their food. Ted was especially impressed. Teresa had cooked him a rainbow trout dish, and she did a spectacular job. Ted said that it was the best fish he had ever eaten.
While they were all joining in a friendly conversation Beth got a phone call on her cell phone. She stepped out of the room to take the call, and when she returned it was obvious from the look on her face that the call had NOT been good news.
She sat back down by Dan, and began to tell him that the reservations she had made had been canceled. Becca overheard part of what she was saying and decided to insert herself into the discussion. She asked Beth what the problem was for clarification.
Beth told her that she had made reservations for the family and some friends to spend the weekend at a resort on the north shore of Oahu. Unfortunately the resort had just called her and canceled their reservations, due to a fire that had destroyed the bungalows that they were going to stay in.
Becca was smiling by the time Beth was done explaining her dilemma. Marsh could tell that Beth was confused, and maybe even a little angry, by Becca's seemingly pleased attitude towards her new problem.
Becca then told Beth that Marsh happened to have just become the proud owner of a resort on the north shore of Oahu, and that there would probably be a place for them to stay at that resort, and if Beth would like she would call and check it out.
Beth's facial expression was one of mixed relief and disbelief. She would be happy if it was that easy. Becca took her cell phone out and dialed a number from the saved numbers in her phonebook. After a short conversation with the resort manager, Becca told Beth that they now had reservations at Marsh's resort, and Beth should call a girl named Leyanni Lau after lunch to confirm the details. Leyanni would get the information and arrange for transportation from the airport. She also mentioned that Leyanni wasn't much into textiles, so she would probably not have any clothes on when she met them.
It was obvious that Becca had just made a new BFF.
After everyone was mostly done with their meals, Kim Morrison asked if they could bring their family and friends to The Hole for a meal. Marsh told them they would be on the preferred customer list. The subject of paying for a meal came up, and Marsh deferred for a moment to bring in an expert. He picked up the phone and asked Ginny to come in to help him answer some questions.
Ginny told them that there wasn't a charge for meals, but that any donations from diners were given as a donation to the homeless veteran's shelter in town. Ginny went on to tell the group that Jimmy had recently learned about the shelter and now was hiring a few of the vets, and made it clear that they were invited to dine at The Hole whenever they were hungry.
Dan was immediately interested and when Marsh told him that Jimmy had been having some trouble with the city over plans to remodel or rebuild the shelter Dan was all over it. It seems that Dan had just recently found out about the veteran's shelter and had wanted to start helping them as well.
Dan told Marsh he didn't have any enemies at city hall and maybe the Turner group could team up with him and his company. There might be some good things happening with both companies involved. Marsh told Dan he'd like to get together with him after he got back from Hawaii, and work on the project.
At his request, Ginny took Ted to the kitchen so that he could speak to the chefs. Marsh saw that everyone was finished eating, so he suggested they all come with him to the helicopter, and that he would take them on a helicopter tour of some of the local Turner holdings.
When everyone was in the back of the chopper, Marsh asked if they would like to fly with the doors open so that they could see. Everyone agreed that they would, so Marsh opened the storage compartment and got headsets for everyone so that they could all communicate above the jet engine and rotor noise. He handed one to each of his guests, and showed them how and where to plug them in.
As Marsh climbed into the co-pilots seat, Becca was starting the turbine engines. Marsh buckled himself in and put on his headset. He flipped a switch and activated the intercom system and gave an impromptu welcome speech. He tried to mix some humor into the welcome, and ease the nervous tension he detected in a couple of his neighbors.
Becca lifted the collective and the Bell 412 lifted smoothly off of the helipad. With a little pressure on the left pedal under her feet, the bird rotated in place, then with a little pressure on the cyclic the nose of the aircraft dipped slightly and they began to fly north across the county road, and over the green forest.
Becca flew almost the same route that she had the day before. The difference was that Marsh was the tour guide instead of Jimmy. Marsh commented about several of the landmarks they saw as they flew toward the lake. Becca dropped to just a few feet above the water, as she flew over the shore-line. She slowed the helicopter and Marsh told the guests about the houses and cabins along the lake-shore.
When they got to the resort/camp/conference center, Becca came to a stop, and hovered near the beach. Here Marsh and Becca both told the Morrisons, the Johnsons, and Joanna about the buildings and the toys that were here. Marsh made it clear that Dan could use the facilities for company business meetings and the Turner Company would be very reasonable as far as corporate rates. If it was family business, or just a family picnic, they would be preferred guests and there would be no charges.
Joanna asked if she could bring some of her friends out to picnic/party, and Marsh assured her they would be happy to accommodate, but there needed to be a modicum of caution as it pertained to alcohol. He didn't want to have a bunch of young drunk drivers on the lake or on the roads after a party.
Joanna replied that she completely understood. As a new police officer she knew the importance of responsible drinking and as a friend she would never allow anyone to abuse the hospitality that Marsh and the Turner Company was offering.
While she hovered in front of the resort, Becca turned the helicopter both left and right so that everyone in the back could see all of the features of the camp.
After Becca and Marsh told everyone about the camp and answered several questions, Becca turned the helicopter toward the north and flew to and past the north end of the lake. She gained altitude so that they were far enough above the trees so that everyone felt comfortable.
It was a short flight to the Turner training base, and Becca flew low and slow over most of the base, while Marsh told the group what little he knew about the things the company did here. Marsh asked Becca to fly the 412 into one of the large hangers that was open. He wanted Dan to see what was here. He had a plan to invite Dan to move his company's flight operations out of the city's international airport and use the Turner field, as soon as they got their county and federal approval to open the field again. Marsh had been appalled by the rates that the city was charging for fuel, hanger rent, and landing fees. He was paying less than half those rates for the hangers he had in California, and the hanger rent included landing fees. Granted the Turner companies were much busier than a small town emergency physician but the fees here were way beyond reasonable.
Marsh was eager to move his own flight operations out, and to offer his new neighbor a chance to save his company some money too. When Marsh was satisfied that they had seen enough to get a good idea what was here, he asked Becca to fly back to the ranch, and show them the barn and then to fly to the house and land, so they could take the group in for dessert and to show off a little more of the features. Becca had no idea what all Marsh was going to show them. He was counting on surprising her a little too.
Becca flew over the forest in a slightly south-easterly direction, stopping to hover just to the east of the "old" barn. Marsh pointed out the gun range behind the barn. He told the group that there were more training ranges inside as well.
Next Becca flew down the road, to the house, where she shut down the helicopter, and Marsh led everyone into the kitchen, through the back door.
Marsh had already set up arrangements with Marguarita to have fresh strawberry-rhubarb pie ready for dessert. She had timed it perfectly, so that the pie was still warm, and it went perfectly with a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream. Marsh thanked Marguarita for making the pie and for making him look good.
The group all picked a spot to sit and enjoy the pie, and a friendly conversation. There was no specific topic of discussion, but it seemed that everyone joined in and enjoyed the few minutes of getting to know each other better. The pie and ice cream didn't last long, and everyone complimented Marguarita and thanked her for the refreshing dessert break.
Marsh and Becca invited the Morrisons and Johnsons to follow them into the expansive living room, where all of the furniture was set up to feature the magnificent panoramic view that fell away from the mostly glass east wall of the house.
Both Marsh and Becca walked to the glass wall, and opened one of the large sliding glass doors. The drapes had already been opened and everyone stepped out onto the full width deck, to take in the breath-taking beauty of the forest and the valley below. If everyone was quiet, you could hear the singing of the birds, movement of the breeze in the trees, and faintly the pleasant sound of water tumbling over the rocks in the stream, in the distance. Marsh pointed out that the stream that fed Dan and Kim's waterfall was the same one that babbled through the Turner Ranch.
Marsh saw Dan checking out the locked gates that were in the deck safety railing, and invited him to watch and learn. He walked to the center of the deck, opened the control box and began flipping the switches that opened the pool deck, the glass doors below, and extended the stairways that led down to the pool and lower deck.
As the stairs locked into place, fully extended, everyone could hear the click of the safety locks, telling them that the gates could now be opened. That's just what Marsh and Becca did. Becca opened one gate and walked down to the pool, as Marsh opened the other, and followed her actions. When they were down to the bottom of the stairs, they both turned and walked into the indoor gym and water park.
Marsh and Becca took turns pointing out the showers, the hot tub, the sauna, and the exercise machines. There was almost as much variety of the machines as you would find in a 24 Hour Fitness, or Curves. Marsh invited the guests to come up anytime at all to take advantage of the facility.
Next he showed them the home theater room. It had eighteen luxurious recliner chairs, on three raised levels. Six chairs on each of three levels. There wasn't a "bad" seat in the room.
Becca led the way to the game room on the other side of the gym, so they could all see the pool and Ping-Pong tables, game/card tables, and the arcade style electronic games. There were enough to keep quite a few children, of all ages, happy and distracted for quite a while.
When everyone had seen all the amenities, Marsh led the group to the door at the back of the room. He pointed out the door that opened to the stairway to the kitchen, but led them out into the "tunnels", where he waited for everyone to stop in a small group, next to the first side door. He told the group that he was going to show them a feature of the house that up till right now, only two people in the world knew about, Jimmy and himself. Marsh told them Becca had never even been in this area, and that this was to remain unknown to anyone outside this group of family and friends.
Marsh keyed his password into the numerical key-pad on the concrete wall, and the heavy steel door swung open. Everyone walked down the stairs where Marsh keyed in another code to open another heavy steel door. It opened into a small concrete room big enough to allow the whole group to come in and shut the first door, before Marsh keyed in another code, then stepped up to a retinal scanner, to open yet another heavy steel door.
This door opened into a very comfortable and spacious living room with all the comforts of home. The air was a very comfortable temperature and the room smelled fresh and pleasant. Not like some stale, musty, concrete basement.
Marsh pushed open the swinging bat-wing doors and led the way into the dining room. Again it was appointed as well as anything you would expect to see in an upper, middle-class, home. There was table space and seating for eight, and the table had the appearance of having a leaf or two that could be added if need be. Four more chairs were placed in strategic locations around the edges of the room. There was a large china cabinet/hutch with nice looking table ware in view. It didn't appear to be expensive fine china, but neither did it look like cheap Corelle either.
There was a nice sized breakfast bar between the dining room and the spacious kitchen. The kitchen was equipped like a high end family home would have, with a gas/propane stove, two large built-in ovens, a built-in microwave and granite countertops, with two built in blenders. (One on each end of the main counter) Marsh pointed out that the pantry had a lot of non-perishable foods and the large freezer had a lot of fresh-frozen fruits and vegetables. Since Marsh and his family were vegetarians, there was no meat. The large refrigerator was less well stocked just because Marsh and Jimmy had not wanted a bunch of food to spoil.
Marsh continued his tour by showing the group the three bedrooms off the side of the dining room. There were two beds, in two of the rooms, and one huge super king bed in the other. Marsh explained that including the convertible sofas and the beds in these bedrooms that there were accommodations for sixteen adults. There were some inflatable mattresses as well in case of an emergency while there were more people here.
Marsh also told Dan and his family that there were ventilation systems and generators, with redundant backup systems. The place might not withstand a point blank nuclear attack, but he was confident that he was fully prepared for most any other kind of attack or siege.
Marsh finally led everyone to the door on the other side of the dining room. He alleged that the next room might be more interesting to some members of the group than others, and then he opened the door and turned on the lights. He invited everyone to walk around and enjoy window shopping in the huge armory.
Ted did a cursory glance around the space and told Marsh there were more weapons here than the whole police department owned. And they were more technologically advanced as well. Marsh pointed out that the Turner Company had several more stockpiles as big as this or bigger.
While most of the group walked through the aisles of guns, ammunitions, and gear of all sorts, Marsh asked Dan to step aside with him so they could talk privately. Marsh led Dan into the miniature control room just off of the main armory.
Marsh turned on the safety lights. They gave enough illumination to the room to keep people from running into the furniture and walls. They also included an illuminated sign over the rest room. After he and Dan were inside the room, Marsh went over to the control board and turned on a couple more eighty inch LED monitors, (There were two forty inch monitors already on,) and sat down at one of the terminals. With just a few keystrokes on one of the keyboards, Marsh brought the two huge monitors to life.
Marsh proceeded to show Dan what he could do with the digital imagery from the privately owned satellites that the Turner Company had in orbit. There were real time images in the form of color video feed and infrared (heat sensitive) imagery. Marsh told Dan that he could control the cameras himself from right here in the room they were in, as well as several other locations across the country.
Marsh proceeded to give Dan a bit more information about who he was and how he came to be here, in this city at this time and under the current circumstances. He reiterated his desire to work with Dan on both a personal level, as neighbors, and on a business level in some mutually beneficial common interests. He proposed that Dan should move the aviation division of his company from the city airport to the Turner Field private facility. Marsh was sure Dan's company could save money in the millions of dollars.
Marsh also brought up the status of Joanna and his desire to hire her. He assured Dan that he didn't want to take her away from Dan's security detail, but that she would be a perfect fit into his company, and she could work for Turner Security as the lead agent for the Powell/Lindquist security detail, while still living at Dan's estate.
Dan asked him if Joanna would be available to him (Dan) if he needed her after the crisis for the girls was past, and Marsh assured him that would be the case. He also assured Dan that Joanna would have all of the Turner resources at her disposal.
Marsh wrapped up his private conversation with a handshake and a commitment to getting together after Dan's trip to Hawaii to talk business. Then Marsh went over to the door and invited the rest of the group to come in the control room for a little demonstration. He zoomed the satellite image in towards his own home and focused the camera in until everyone in the room could read the lettering on the controls for his hot tub. He then told them he could do that anywhere in the country. He actually could do it worldwide.
Kim had asked if he could do it across the street at her house, and Marsh assured her that he could zoom in and show her Tony's cock or Patti's tits. Kim admitted that she was being naughty but she wanted Marsh to show her Tony's cock. Marsh chuckled and began to make the camera adjustments to show the other side of the street.
Within just a few minutes Marsh had zoomed in to where Tony's cock was all you could see on the huge monitor, and since Kim was standing right next to where Marsh was sitting, he put one hand on her leg. Kim leaned into Marsh and he moved his hand to the inside of her upper thigh. As they talked Marsh's hand rubbed Kim's inner thigh and ended up brushing across her panties, and feeling a large wet spot.
Marsh looked up at Kim and told her she might want to use the little room over at the side of the control room. Kim agreed and walked over to the door under the illuminated sign. As she opened the door she requested some help from one of the guys. Marsh hesitated long enough to give Dan a chance to respond to her plea for help, and when he didn't, Marsh got up and followed her into the restroom.
Kim asked Marsh to remove her skirt and panties so she could sit down and pee. He gladly complied, and after Kim was finished he pulled some paper off the roll, and wiped her pussy for her.
Marsh gave Kim the option of riding in the helicopter with or without her skirt, but told her she was NOT getting her panties back either way. She elected to put the skirt back on just so she wouldn't put on a show at Dan's office. Kim and Marsh both told each other they looked forward to having time to get more intimately acquainted. Marsh put her skirt back on her, adjusted it and her blouse, then picked up her panties and followed her back out to the rest of the group.
Marsh put Kim's panties up to his nose and sniffed them one more time then he told Dan he thought Dan had lost something. He then handed Kim's wet, fragrant, panties to Dan. Dan brought the panties up to his nose, and inhaled deeply. It was clear to everyone that Dan enjoyed the sweet musk of Kim's female juices. It was also clear that Kim had enjoyed ending the tour the way it ended.
Marsh led the group out of the control room and over to the stairway that led up to his office. He pushed the wall plate to swing the big steel door open and the beautiful wood blind panel opened into the office. When everyone was up in Marsh's office, he closed the doors and the panel closed to completely hide the opening.
Becca led the way back to the kitchen where Marguarita offered everyone drinks again. After they were all refreshed, Marsh led the way back through his office and out the side door to the lawn where the helicopter sat quietly waiting for them to load up.
As Marsh helped his neighbors climb into the helicopter, Wolf came trotting up to him and barked a short hello greeting. "Yeah," Marsh said. "You can go along, buddy. Let me run and get your vest."
Marsh made a quick dash to the garage, opened the big door, and ran inside to get Wolf's official "Police K-9" vest out of the truck.
He ran back after pushing the buttons to close the garage door, and had Wolf jump up into the helo, where Marsh snapped the hooks of the vest, and clipped the harness into a seat belt loop on the floor of the back of the helicopter.
There was an empty seat next to Joanna, and Wolf chose to occupy that seat. He was well rewarded for his choice. Joanna immediately liked the big dog, and started to massage his head, right behind his ears. Wolf settled in with his head on Joanna's lap, -relaxing in doggie heaven for now.
Marsh was the last one to buckle in, after making sure everyone else was secure, and making sure the doors were latched in the open position.
Becca had the turbines spinning already before Marsh was strapped into the copilot's seat. She lifted off of the grass, and turned to buzz the Morrison estate. With the doors open this time everyone inside the helo could see the Williams family working in the Morrison's back yard. This time the Williams' could all see who was in the helicopter for sure, and they all jumped up and waved. It looked like Patti, Barbie, and Beth were shouting a greeting, but with the noise of the turbines and the chopping of the rotor blades any sound on the ground was washed away before anyone in the helo could hear it.
The uneventful flight back to Dan's office took a little less than ten minutes, and his security people had the lawn cordoned off to make sure there was no one there in the path of the descending helicopter.
Becca shut down the engines and let the rotor blades stop this time before she told her passengers they could unbuckle and step out of the helicopter. She and Marsh both got out and gave everyone a hand stepping down. Everyone exchanged hugs, and Marsh reminded Beth that she needed to call Leyanni Lau in Hawaii and confirm their reservations.
Each of the Morrison party gave Marsh and Becca a sincere thank you. Beth hugged Becca a lot longer than she needed to. "I can't thank you enough for rescuing me from the disaster that would have been our weekend. You really came through, and I won't forget this. Becca smiled and said, "I just did what was right. You'd of done the same for me if our situations were reversed, right?"
"Yeah, I'd like to think I would have," Beth admitted. "But they weren't, and I don't know if I would have thought about it that quickly. Thank you again!"
As the Morrisons and Johnsons scurried over to the front doors of Dan's office building, Becca, Marsh, and Joanna all climbed back into the chopper. Wolf had waited patiently for his new girlfriend to come back, and he was not at all disappointed when she buckled into the seat next to him again.
Becca started the 412 and lifted off. She climbed straight up till she was above the height of the building and then turned northeast again and headed towards the ranch. Marsh had a sudden inspiration.
"Hey Becca," he spoke into his mic. "Let's take Joanna over to the main office. We can show her around and we can get her a company employment application. They're gonna want one when she decides to tell us yes, so if she has it today she won't have to come in later."
Becca turned the helicopter left and flew the few miles out to the Turner Inc. office building. The Bell 412 is just enough bigger than the 230 that Becca didn't even try to fly it into the hanger. She and Marsh put a couple tie-downs on the bird and led Joanna to the stairway, and down to the penthouse. Wolf trotted along behind. He was happy to be going with, it didn't matter where they were, Wolf just loved to be where Marsh was. Oh yeah, having Becca and Joanna there to dote over him didn't hurt his feelings.
Becca led the way into the penthouse and gave Joanna a tour. Becca explained that Jimmy had told the architect to design the building with a penthouse apartment so that he (Jimmy) could work as late as he wanted and not have to worry about driving, or flying home. So far Jimmy had stayed here only a few times, and had invited his sister to stay when she first got here. With Marsh, Becca, Trish, Jenni, and Sue all living out at his ranch it seems he always has a ride, or a driver, or a pilot if he wants or needs one.
The next stop was down one floor to the executive suites. Marsh introduced Joanna to their receptionist, Sally Armstrong. He and Becca both showed her their offices, and while Becca went in and introduced Joanna to Trish, Marsh went in to see if he could bring her to meet Jimmy.
"At this point I don't guess it will make a difference. With you and Becca being out there and mingling with the neighbors there really isn't much point in me looking like I'm anti-social." Jimmy rationalized.
"I want you to be comfortable with this, dad. If you want to remain anonymous, I'll respect that." Marsh respectfully responded.
"Naw," Jimmy smiled as he looked at Marsh. "I've hidden in the shadows long enough. I don't want to go on TV like you did, but I really should try to be a good neighbor. After all, they put up with my noisy helicopter landings and departures. And now they have to put up with my jet flying high speed passes down the street in front of their house."
Jimmy and Marsh both laughed and Marsh replied, "Yeah, but they don't know whose jet it was or who was flying it, yet."
Jimmy gathered his thoughts. "Bring that little girl in here. I'd like to meet the kid that killed The Butcher. I just wish she was working for me to begin with. If you recruit her, I think she'll be a good asset."
Marsh left Jimmy's office and walked into Trish's, where he found Becca and Joanna sitting in front of Trish's desk and the three of them engrossed in conversation. Marsh waited for a break in the conversation, before he invited them all to come to Jimmy's office so Jimmy could meet the cute little girl that Marsh was so anxious to recruit.
As they walked into his office, Jimmy stood up and walked around the corner of his desk. "So this is the cute little thing my granddaughter and her fiancé have been bragging about. I'm Jimmy. I used to own this company, but I gave it all away yesterday. I'm hoping the new owners will see fit to give me an allowance now so I can still afford to eat once in a while."
"Come over here and give the old man a hug," he continued. "I may be old but I still recognize beauty, and you've got it kiddo."
Joanna blushed and walked over to where Jimmy was standing. Jimmy wrapped her in a huge bear hug, and Joanna just turned her face up and planted a kiss on his lips. Jimmy responded and the kiss and hug lasted a bit longer than anybody expected.
When they broke their connection, Jimmy hummed, "Mmmmm that was very nice. Marsh, why don't you bring more pretty girls like this one up to my office? I could learn to like this, a lot."
Joanna blushed again, but responded quickly. "I'm Joanna, and you are a great kisser. I can come around and put up with this kind of treatment anytime." Jimmy bent down and kissed her again.
Trish cleared her throat and then spoke. "Daddy would you like us to get out of here and close the door, or are you gonna take her up to the penthouse?"
Jimmy broke the kiss and looked at Trish, then back at Joanna. "I have reliable information Joanna has things to do and people to see. The rumor mill says she's gonna be going to my old place in Hawaii tonight. Maybe when she gets back, she'll give the old man a chance to show her just what he's learned in his years of experience."
"Ohhooouuuu," Joanna purred. "That sounds like an offer I can't refuse. Trish, if your daddy is as good as he kisses I think I'll like hanging around with him."
Trish smiled. "I doubt he's gonna be happy with me for saying it, but he's that good." She winked at Joanna.
"Hmmmm," Joanna responded. "That sounds like experience talking. Y'all must be related to the Morrisons."
Marsh was surprised when Jimmy responded first. "I don't think we are related, but we hold some of the same values. Family is really important, and love is meant to be demonstrated, not just talked about."
"Wow," Joanna said. "He's a good kisser and a philosopher. I am definitely going to make a point of spending some time with this gentleman in the future."
Jimmy finally let go of Joanna, and went to sit back in his chair. He invited everyone else in his office to pick a chair and make themselves comfortable. Marsh mentioned that he had brought Joanna here for a tour, and Jimmy stood and offered to show her around while Marsh, Becca, and Trish got some work done, since they hadn't been here at all yet today.
Jimmy, Joanna, and Wolf took off to see the rest of the Turner building, and Marsh, Becca, and Trish all went to their own offices. Marsh found a stack of sticky notes on his desk, and spent the next hour making phone calls and handling a multitude of minor issues.
One of the calls Marsh needed to return was a call from Papa Victor. He told Marsh that the rest of the family was in and had contributed to the reward, to the tune of a total of $1.5 million. Marsh took the opportunity to tell Papa Victor that he was going to add another half million and give her a total of two million dollars. Victor praised Marsh for his generosity. He wanted to know if Marsh could make a plan far enough ahead to let him, his wife, and his brothers to come to town for a reward celebration. Marsh promised he would call when he had a date and time.
It was around 1630 when Jenni and Sue came up to Marsh's office. The door was open, so they knocked on the door-jam and walked in when Marsh said, "Hi beautiful ladies! Come on in and sit down, but not till I get hugs from both of you."
Marsh stood up and walked around his desk to throw his arms around first Sue, then Jenni. "How the hell are you two doing? I realize this week is the first I've seen either one of you in four years, but I haven't seen nearly enough of either of you in a couple of days. Is your boss driving you too hard? I can hire some ex-Navy SEAL to kick his ass for you if you say so."
Both of his chief medical people laughed and sat in chairs in front of Marsh's desk, and heaved a big sigh. Jenni spoke first. "It's got nothing to do with the boss," she said. "He's been very supportive, and actually lets me do my job. I just have this thing about earning my paycheck, so I'm pushing myself."
Marsh looked at Jenni with a quizzical facial expression. "You're getting a paycheck?" he asked. "Wow! I thought slaves worked for room and board. You musta moved up in the food chain. I haven't gotten a paycheck since I've been here."
The door between Marsh's office and Becca's was not fully closed, allowing Becca to hear most of what was going on. While Marsh, Jenni and Sue were laughing, Becca came through the door, stood with her hands on her hips, and looked sternly at the little group. "It sounds to me like there's way too much frivolous nonsense going on in here. Did I hear you need a Navy SEAL to kick someone's ass? Well, here I am, and I'm ready, willing, and able to kick some ass."
Becca's little speech only made the laughter last a little longer. Sue pointed a finger towards Marsh and said, "It's all his fault! He's the one that needs an ass whooping."
Becca was on a roll. She walked over to Marsh, grabbed him by the back of the neck, and lifted him out of his chair. Then she bent him over his desk, and proceeded to give him a couple of swift kicks on his back side. When she was finished she plopped him back down in his chair.
By the time Becca was finished with Marsh's ass whooping everyone in the room was laughing even harder, including Marsh, and Jimmy and Joanna walked in and tried to get someone to tell them what was so funny.
Marsh was the first one able to speak. "I just got my ass kicked by one of Jimmy's Navy SEALs." He choked out. "You needed to be here."
As everyone got calmed down, Joanna spoke up, "I hate to be a bother, but could somebody take me back to the Morrison's house? I should really get myself ready to go on this trip with Dan and his family. Dan was kind enough to ask me to go along, so it seems like the friendly thing to do. I know I'm going to hate going to Oahu, and all, but he did make it a special request."
Marsh smiled at her and then turned to Becca. "Becca, perhaps you could take Joanna to Dan's place and then take the 412 back out to the base, and get Jimmy's 230 back before he knows it's gone."
"As you wish, sir." Becca sneered. She walked around Marsh's desk and asked Joanna to come into her office for a minute so she could finish up the last thing she was working on.
In Marsh's office Jimmy sat down with Marsh, Sue, and Jenni and the four of them joined in a discussion of the progress with the urgent care and doctors' practices. Sue and Jenni both reported that they had employees stopping in to see the progress and chat with them about when the offices would be done and open.
Marsh suggested that perhaps they could ask the contractor to finish a couple of the new offices, and he and Sue could see a few of the quick urgent care needs of the employees while they were in the building. Sue kinda liked the idea, and Jimmy said he would talk to the contractor.
Sue pointed out that they would need to arrange for X-ray and basic lab services, at the very least. Jenni told them she wouldn't have any of the basic supplies they would need till sometime in the next week. Marsh confirmed that they were working on procuring X-ray machines, ultrasound, CAT scanner, an MRI, and the basic pathology lab machines.
Jimmy listened with interest. He joined the discussion with pointing out that what Marsh was proposing would make the Turner/Mitchel facility better equipped than the local hospital. Marsh agreed that he knew there were a lot of places that couldn't afford the technology he wanted to have, but he saw no reason to not go state-of-the-art here.
"No offense intended Dad, but you put me in charge of a bunch of assets, and I'd like to use them to help people. It's what I studied for all my educational years, and I think we can make a huge contribution to our community." Marsh responded with noticeable respect. "If we run out of money, we'll just have to earn some more." He continued with a chuckle.
"Oh yes, I totally agree, son." Jimmy replied. "And it makes me proud that I chose a young man like you to follow in my place. I'm quite sure your own father and mother would be proud of the man you've become."
"I have tried to do things all my life that would have made them proud." Marsh's voice cracked a little as he spoke of his mother and father. He still wondered what had really happened to his father, and he had always thought the circumstances around his mother's death were suspicious. He had never gotten satisfaction from the people who told him she had died, but never let him see her body.
Trish had walked into Marsh's office and taken a seat, watching and listening to the discussion. Marsh looked at her and changed the subject. "I want to talk about something a little different while y'all are here and now that Joanna isn't. I'd like to get some help from all of you to throw a little surprise party for Joanna. The Martinellis wanted to give her a reward for eliminating their problem. It turns out that they were trying to put a contract on Tony "The Butcher". They wanted to do it in such a way that he wouldn't hear about it and come back on them in spite."
"Victor and Antonio have both told me they were getting reward money together, and this afternoon Victor told me there will be two million dollars for her. They said it would probably have taken more than twice that to put out the contract. Tony's reputation was that bad. Victor said they had played with the idea of getting the Flaming Red Widow Maker or the Killer Doc. They didn't know who they were but they had heard of their reputations..." Marsh paused for effect. "They figured it out when I was out there to tell them I killed Tommy and was involved with the killing of Tony."
Sue gasped. "Marsh, I didn't know that was you till just now. I've heard of those names, but I had never put it together with you, and Becca. It makes sense to me now but Marsh; you're such a sweet, loving, man. I would never have guessed."
"I'm not really proud of that reputation, Sue. It was borne of the grief and anger that came after Becky and Elise were killed." Marsh started to cloud up, and his eyes were moist. He paused for a couple of deep breaths before he continued. "I don't like being that man, but I know I will always have that evil streak deep inside. It'll come out at times like when those thugs attacked Trish. I'll always have it to call out when it's needed."
Sue got up and came around Marsh's desk to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss his cheek. "I'm so sorry Marsh," she said softly. I hope you know you can talk to me any time. I know Jenni and Trish feel the same. I love you Marsh."
Marsh's cell phone rang. "Hi beautiful!" he had seen Becca's caller id. "How can I help you?"
"I just wanted to know if anyone wants to be picked up and taken home tonight." Becca's sweet voice replied.
"I know you have at least one taker. Come on over and we'll figure it out when you get here, or before." Marsh pushed the end call, and set it back on his desk.
Marsh still had one arm around Sue's waist. "I love you too, Sue and it means a lot to have the support system I have. Everybody in this room supports me and enables me to go on each day. Thank you all!"
"Trish," he continued. "Are you going to take your car home tonight, or do you want to have Becca haul all of us out to the ranch?"
"Daddy," Trish asked. "Can we put my car in one of the loading bays? I'd like to just ride home in the chopper, but I really don't want to leave my new car outside."
Marsh cut off any response Jimmy might have been planning. "Get me your keys, sweetheart. I'm going to call and have one of the security guys come up and get them to put your car inside. Let's get our desks cleared off dad, and be ready when Becca gets here. Oh yeah, Sue, Jenni, do you have a problem with riding home in the 230? I guess if you do you can take the scenic route and walk home."
Jenni chuckled. "You would let us wouldn't you?"
"Now Jenni," Marsh responded. "You know I would never force you to ride home in the helicopter if you didn't want to."
"Yeah right." She replied disgustedly. "I know, you're just thinking of our feelings."
Marsh picked up his desk phone and pushed the non-emergency speed dial button for the security dispatch desk. He asked for one of the guys to come up to get Trish's keys, and thanked the dispatcher.
When Trish handed her keys to the security officer, he said, "It'll be locked in bay three, Ma'am. The dispatch desk will have your keys in the morning."
Marsh, Jimmy, and Trish made sure their offices were locked, and Marsh checked Becca's before they all took the elevator up to the roof, where they could see Becca flying in from about a half mile off.
Becca didn't even shut down the turbines. Marsh told Jimmy to get in the front and he would suffer in the back with the beautiful ladies. Marsh gave Sue, Jenni, and Trish a hand as they stepped into the helo, then on a whim, he took the door off and stowed it in the space Jimmy had showed him the day before. Marsh then climbed in himself, and Wolf jumped in with him. Becca lifted off, and headed out to the ranch.
Becca made her approach to the ranch quite a bit lower than usual, so that everyone in the helicopter could wave to the Morrisons and any of their friends that were gathered out on the deck by the pool. They were greeted with waves and smiles.
Becca landed the 230 lightly on the gear, turned it around and backed it into the hanger. "Two can play your game, Marshall Mitchel," she quipped with an attitude. Marsh actually liked the way she threw it at him.
"You're cute when you're mad," he told her in reply. Becca joined the laughter that erupted in the back of the helicopter, as she went through the shut-down process, and the helicopter went silent.
Jimmy got out and walked over to his house. Marsh and the girls unloaded themselves from the helicopter and piled into the Bronco Marsh had driven down to the hanger/barn this morning. Marsh let Sue drive the Bronco. Becca and Jenni got in the back seat, and Trish sat in Marsh's lap in the front passenger's seat. There was a constant sound of happy conversation and laughter coming from the little truck as it went up the hill, and across to the house.
Marguarita had diner almost ready, and asked if someone would call Rick and Jimmy, and tell them to get their derrieres here to eat.
Marsh pulled out his cell phone and called Rick, while Trish used the house phone to call her dad. Both got the same answer, "I'll be right there." Jimmy just hung up and went out to his truck. Rick added another sentence to his response: "I don't want to be the one to keep Mita waiting."
Marsh heard Rick's Cobra pull up next to the house first, but Jimmy's truck was not far behind. Rick waited for Jimmy at the door, and they both entered together.
Marsh and Trish helped Mita put the food on the table and everyone took a seat in the big dining room. Marsh asked everyone to bow their heads, and he thanked God for the food and the family that was all here to share it.
The food was delicious, as Marsh had come to expect from Mita. There was lively and pleasant conversation around the table as everyone talked about what they had done and learned this day. Marsh took the opportunity to remind Mita that if on any day, for any meal, she didn't want to go to the trouble of cooking; she could just send everyone out to The Hole, or call Ginny or Jack, and order anything she wanted, delivered.
Mita thanked Marsh, and told him she was having fun cooking with the fresh ingredients that Sandy had gotten her, and had delivered. "It's so much fun to cook with the authentic vegetables and seasonings." She said lightly. She turned to Jimmy. "Thank you so much, Jimmy! You set up a super good supply chain, and the people you've got running it are top shelf!"
Jimmy was sitting right beside Marguarita, and took one of her hands in his. "Mama," he replied. "It's a pleasure to be able to take care of my people and the cooks that feed all of us. This food is delicious, and if my supply chain is the reason, I'm glad it's working. I know however, that you are a fantastic cook with or without my supply chain. I just hope it helps you a little." Jimmy lifted Marguarita's hand to his lips and kissed it lightly.
Marsh followed Jimmy's comment with his own testimony to Marguarita's cooking. "If y'all knew how much I've had to work out in my lifetime to burn off this lady's cooking.... Between her and Mama Vicky, it's a wonder I don't weigh five hundred pounds. Mita's Mexican food and Mama Vicky's Italian. Oh man. They kept me very well over fed."
And just so you know, they were good friends and taught each other their secrets. Mita learned Italian from Mama Vicky, and visa-versa. Oh and when there were school potlucks, Marguarita brought her Mexican, and Mama Vicky brought Italian. Mario and I were very popular, just because of those two moms' cooking."
When everyone was finished with their meal, Mita announced that there was fresh carrot cake for dessert. The only question was if you wanted ice cream or just a glass of cold milk. When all had made their choices Mita started to get up to serve the dessert. Becca and Jenni were much quicker, springing into action, telling Mita to stay put and they would dish up the goodies. They were not slowpokes and soon everyone was enjoying Marguarita's moist warm carrot cake with their own choice of combination.
Marsh started to volunteer to do the clean-up, but was surprised when Jimmy and Rick said they would clear the table and load the dish washer.
Marsh suggested that they should all meet downstairs and enjoy each other's company in the pool and spa. Everybody agreed, and soon the sounds of happy conversations and laughter filled the gym, between the splashing of the pool water and the squeals of the girls as they were pinched and groped by the guys.
As everyone slowed down a bit, Jimmy sat on the infinity bench with Trish and Jenni. "I wish I'd built myself a pool like this one. This is a very pleasant view and with the good company I have sharing it with me it's especially nice."
Marsh swam up and said, "It's not too late dad. You could move up here and live with us, or we could build you a house up the hill between here and the antenna farm."
"Marsh," Jimmy replied. "Both of those are very doable, but I think I'll just stay where I am for now. I can always come up here and share this with you and my girls. And, I can go home and enjoy my own big quiet house, with my dogs and anyone else I can talk into coming over for a night or two."
"There was a quick choir of: "I'll spend the night with you, daddy/grandpa/Jimmy," from all five of the ladies in the pool. Jimmy's voice cracked a little as he responded, "I know. That's one reason I'm such a happy old man."
Marsh was quiet for a few minutes as his mind wound around all the things that were happening in his own life. The changes were truly staggering. Suddenly he got another inspiration. He swam to the inside end of the pool and got out to find his cell phone.
Marsh looked up the number he had for Ted Johnson, and pushed the speed dial. The phone rang three times before Marion answered it. "This is Sargent Johnson phone, Marion Johnson speaking, can I help you?"
"You may be able to, at that," Marsh told her. "How do you think Dan would take it if his little beach party got crashed tomorrow?"
"Hmmmm," Marion hummed. "I'm not sure. I don't know if he has some special reason for having a small party, or if he just didn't think there was going to be accommodations for more. Let me get Ted and you can ask him."
The phone was silent for a minute, and then Marsh heard Ted's voice. This is Sargent Johnson, may I help you?"
"Hi Ted!" Marsh greeted. "I just wanted to bounce an idea off of you. Do you know why Dan limited his party to a small number for this weekend? Does he want it to be exclusive or was he concerned about accommodations?"
"You know Marsh," Ted replied. "I really don't know. I know he arranged this at the last minute, and I don't know if he only wanted a small group, or if he was worried about finding accommodations for a bigger group. Why do you ask?"
"Well it's like this," Marsh said. What are your plans for this weekend, starting tomorrow?"
"Here you go again," Ted sighed. "You and Dan must be cut from the same cloth. Always cooking up some scheme to surprise the people around you, and taking delight in confusing them. Spit it out Marsh. What devious plan are you trying to hatch? Oh yeah, in answer to your question, I have to go in to the office in the morning. I can be finished by 1130 or 1200, but I have several things I need to take care of first thing."
"OK, Ted," Marsh said. "What do you think about leaving from the PD helipad, or from Dan's house, flying to my airstrip, and taking the Gulfstream and some more of the family to Hawaii? I'm thinking you, Marion, Mary, Shelly, and the Williams'. You think Dan would be offended if we just showed up tomorrow night?"
Ted mused, "Hmmm, I don't think Dan would be offended, but where would we stay? Is there someplace we could stay and avoid them if Dan wants a private party?"
As it turns out Ted, there just happens to be an eight bedroom house a few hundred feet from the coconut grove where Dan's group is staying, and Leyanni said it's empty this weekend. Since it's mine, I think I can talk her into letting me have it, if I want it."
Ted was quiet for a few seconds. "Marsh, he finally said. I'm pretty sure you know you don't have to take me or anybody else to Hawaii if you want to go. If you seriously want to take all eight of us with you, I'll ask my people and Tony and Patti if they want to take off tomorrow, and waste the weekend on a beach in Hawaii. You probably have an idea how that's gonna go over with Mary and Shelly."
"Yeah, they're probably be really pissed at me, won't they?" Marsh asked him
Ted laughed. "OK, you've got it figured out. I'll ask the others quietly. Oh, Marsh, What if Mary wants to bring Dan's chauffer? She's been entertaining him for a couple of days and was planning to spend the weekend with him; actually she was going to have him stay out here."
"No problem, Ted." Marsh laughed. "You know I do have a 747 if we need it."
Now Ted laughed. "That seems like a little bit of overkill, Marsh. I'll give you a call in a bit."
"I'll look forward to hearing from you Ted." Marsh said as he pushed the end call button. He walked back into the pool and asked everyone to gather round on the infinity end where he swam over near Jimmy and the girls he was entertaining.
"Here's the deal." He said. "I'm planning a short trip for the weekend. Unless jimmy tells me I can't use his Gulfstream I am planning on taking it along with his chief pilot. Does anyone here want to go with us? I should warn you I've asked Ted Johnson, his wife Marion, and a few others from across the street. So you'll have to put up with a rowdy crowd of cops and gardeners."
Rick was the first to respond. "I've got some things to get done this weekend. There'll be other trips."
Marguarita was next. "I think I'll stay home and cook for Rick, if he'll come around to eat with me. She looked at Rick and spoke his name. Rick?"
"Hell yes I'll eat with you all weekend. The sisters didn't raise me up stupid." Rick smiled at Marguarita.
Jimmy smiled at Marsh. "I don't suppose I'd get in too much hot water if I accompanied you Marsh, if you're including me in this invitation. Were you gonna tell us where we're going so we know what sort of clothes to bring along."
"I've heard tell that the manager of the resort frowns on clothing." Marsh told everyone. "I recon it would be a good idea to have something casual just in case, but I don't think we'll really have a lot of use for suits and ties," he laughed. "And definitely no tuxedos."
"Sounds suspicious to me," said Becca. "That manager wouldn't be a little bundle of hell on wheels, beside a beautiful stretch of beach, would it?"
"I can't fool you for a minute, can I?" Marsh laughed.
Jimmy smiled. I've been thinking about taking my daughter to Hawaii for a few months now. Before I knew she was my daughter. It never seemed to work out that way, but I'm in if my daughter and granddaughter are. I think having my sister and her friend would be cool as well. What do you girls say; will you go to Hawaii with us?"
"Excuse me?" Sue asked. "Did you just invite us to go to Hawaii with you?"
"Did I stutter?" Jimmy asked. "I think that's what I've figured out. Marsh has a beach resort in the Caribbean, but I don't think there is a manager there that frowns on clothes. He doesn't force people to wear them but he isn't as pushy as the one in Hawaii, but I'm just guessing at all of this."
"How big is your group going to be, Marsh? Has the Gulfstream got enough seats, or do we need to take one of the 737s. I hope you're not taking enough to need the 747. That would be a crowd that Leyanni might not appreciate."
Marsh quickly replied. "No dad. I don't think we need the 747, or a 737. We will probably max out the Gulfstream, but that's OK. We'll probably be playing musical beds with the aft cabin, with the people that want to join the mile or higher club."
Jimmy laughed, "Oh that kind of crowd? Sounds like a good time will be had by all. OK you want us all packed and ready to go at.....?
Marsh looked at Becca. "Should we go up and get a 53, so we can take everybody at once?" He asked.
"Sounds like a novel idea," Becca replied. "I've never flown civilians in a 53, but there's no reason not to. Just how many are you planning on?'
My count is fifteen, but who knows who the police department will want to arrest and drag along?" Marsh was smiling.
Just as he finished, Marsh's phone rang, and he swam to the other end of the pool to get out and answer it.
"Hey Ted, that was quick. What did you find out?" Marsh answered as he picked it up and pushed the talk button.
"Ah....Marsh?" a very female voice responded. "This is Shelly White."
"Oh hi Shelly," Marsh said. "Sorry about that, I was just talking to your boss, and thought he was calling with a question or a reply to the question I asked him. You don't sound at all like Ted. How can I help you Shelly?
"Marsh, Ted just told me you invited us to fly to Hawaii with you tomorrow." Shelly sounded a little tentative. I don't want to sound ungrateful or presumptuous, but I wondered if you would have room for and mind if I invited my brother and his family? I know that Ken and Amy have been to Hawaii, but their kids have never been and I'd really like to invite them if it wouldn't be a problem. I don't know if you're going commercial or chartering a plane or...."
Marsh interrupted her. "Shelly, how many are there in your brother's family? To be honest I was making a contingency plan for more people and I have room for five more. If they have more than that, someone will have to ride out on the wing. If we have one out there we have to put one on the other wing, so I guess we really could add seven if we need to." Marsh was having trouble finishing that last part, what with him trying not to laugh.
"Shelly took a deep breath. "Ken and Amy have three children, two boys and a girl, they're all teenagers, but they are very well behaved."
"OK, Shelly, invite them but tell the teenagers there will be a couple of killers on board for security, so they better be good."
Now Shelly caught on, and laughed. "Would the killers also be the pilot and co-pilot, she asked?
"You got it." Marsh told her. "But remember the Gulfstream has an auto pilot, so we can take a few minutes to toss out anybody that screws up....eh...ah correction, anybody that causes too much trouble. The screwing part will probably happen through-out the flight. We have a bedroom for that."
"Oh thanks, Mike....ah Marsh. I gotta relearn your real name. I'll get it, soon I hope. I want to be in your circle of friends."
"No worries Shelly. You're there already. You've got to really do something bad to get out now. You're stuck. Invite your family and make sure someone lets me know."
"Thanks again Marsh we'll call you soon." Shelly replied and ended the call.
As Marsh was ending his call he saw everyone getting out of the pool. Jimmy said he thought they should all get together what they were taking with them, so they could put in an appearance at the office in the morning and still be ready to leave at 1300.
Marguarita told them they were on their own for breakfast. She was going to go home with Rick, and stay at his house for the weekend.
Marsh's phone rang again. This time he looked at the caller ID before he answered. It said it was Mary Davis. "Good evening Mary," Marsh answered. "How may I help you this evening?"
"Marsh," Mary began. "I'm hoping I've read you right, and I'm not imposing on your good nature. I'm going to impose anyway if that's how you take it. I want to know if you would have space to take Dan's housekeeping crew along as well. Since everyone else is going I think it would be nice to take Ashley and Debbie, and their significant others. I don't know if they even can make the time available, and this is a short notice thing...."
Marsh stopped her. "I get it Mary. You ask them and I'll make it work. Just have them at the Morrison's house at 1300. Fair enough? And no, you're not causing any trouble or an imposition. I'd have asked earlier, but I haven't met them and quite frankly didn't know about them. I do however know about the Simpsons, so please give them a call as well. I'd call them if they knew me, but they don't. If you or Ted calls them, they will not have to be afraid that someone has found them, who shouldn't have."
"Thanks Mary, I'm glad you brought me up to speed. We'll make it happen if they can come with us."
Marsh ended the call with Mary, and paused to think about how to best make it work.
Becca, Trish, Sue, and Jenni just headed up the stairs and disappeared into their bedrooms to decide what to take with them.
Marsh walked up to the truck with Jimmy. "Dad, he said," Thank you for putting me in a position to do stuff like this. I had the money before I met you to do most anything I wanted to do, but you sure added easy options. I know I told you I wouldn't need the 747, and I really don't, but if all the people show up that we invited, I think I'll take it anyway. I can use it as a chance to have Becca check me out in the big bird."
"You're the boss, son. You take anything you want. I'm just enjoying the view of my new son sharing with others, and I am really enjoying it." Jimmy spoke with genuine feeling."
"Marsh, I'm glad to have made the right choice. I don't think I could have found a nicer, more generous man if I'd looked for another ten years. I think you think of others more than I did, and I really like that." Jimmy beamed with what Marsh thought was pride. It warmed him inside to know he was living up to Jimmy's expectations.
Jimmy drove out of sight and Marsh went back into the house. He picked a bottle of water out of the refrigerator, and sat at the breakfast bar enjoying the warmth he felt. It had been a long time since he felt this good.
Marsh's solitude was broken by the ring of his cell phone. "This is Marshall Mitchel" he answered. "May I help you?"
"How 'bout that?" he heard Ted say. "I was just calling Marshall Mitchel. And you go and answer his phone."
Marsh and Ted both laughed. "Hi Ted," Marsh said. "What do you know now?"
Ted started naming people. Well let's count this out, there's myself and Marion. The Williams would like to go. Mary wants to go and Joe said he'll go with her. Shelly is ecstatic about going, she's never been to Hawaii. And her brother thinks it would be great to get to go as well. She said the kids promised not to do anything to get kicked out on the wing. I don't know anything about that, but Marsh, this is way above and beyond anything I would have expected from any friend let alone one that I've just met. Oh yeah, Mary said you asked her to invite the house keeping crew and the Simpsons. That adds nine or ten more. The Simpsons said they could make it, and the housekeeping crew isn't sure if there will be four, five, or six. And so you know, I think you and Dan Morrison are really special men."
"I hope I never disappoint you Ted. From all I've been able to figure out, you're not such a bad guy yourself, Ted. There's a lot of graft and deceit going on in the police department you work for, and you're not a part of it. I happen to know you could be. You've been approached and you've stayed on the high road. That tells me a lot about your character. Ted if you ever have to get out of there before that department crumbles, or even as it happens, which is only a matter of time. You need to know that there's a position at Turner Security for you, and any of your good guy team. I only know the three gals you've got on the Powell/Lindquist detail, but I'm sure you've got a few more than that."
I counted no less than twenty-four people from your group, and maybe twenty-six, that you've rounded up, right? Marsh asked. "Do you think they can all be in the Morrison's back yard by about 1300 tomorrow? Oh, and Ted, I don't want you to get carried away, but if there ends being one or two that I don't know and you haven't thought of. I'm taking the 747. We have room. They may be on the beach on a grass mat to sleep, but we have seats enough and we can always add some water to the soup so there's enough food."
"I'll tell them if they aren't here we'll leave without them," Ted laughed. That oughta get them to be on time. I know I'll be there with my wife and bells on if you'd like."
I don't think you'll need the bells, Ted, but if your wife is there without you it's OK. I'll take her along with or without you."
"I have no doubt, Marsh. And she'll go without me, too. She's all over a free trip to Hawaii. By the way, I've told everybody not to say anything to Dan or his party. Just in case he doesn't want us around, we can make ourselves scarce."
"You're a smart man, Ted Johnson I should have asked you for that, but didn't think of it at the right time. I'll see you tomorrow." Marsh ended the call and dialed Leyanni's number.
Leyanni answered on the third ring again. "Good afternoon," she answered in her sweet Hawaiian voice. "This is Leyanni Lau, how may I help you?"
"Hi there beautiful, this is Marshall Mitchel. I can think of several ways you are already helping me and probably several more that are yet to be determined."
"Oh hi boss! Thanks!" Leyanni replied. "Are you going to come and visit me tomorrow? I really want to meet you. Becca has told me a little, but I want to see for myself."
"Leyanni, I want to come and see you tomorrow, and I want to bring twenty-five or thirty friends. Will the house by the coconut grove handle that many?"
"Oh yes, boss," and more Leyanni purred. You just tell me what time to be at the airport with my choppers. What airplane are you bringing, Marsh? The Gulfstream won't handle that many. I'll have the service guys ready for you, but I'd like to tell them what to expect. Oh my, I'm going to have to wear clothes tomorrow to come to the airport. Oh well, I think you're worth it."
"I'm gonna bring the big bird, Leyanni." Marsh replied. "I might as well go big or not go at all, right?"
"Oh you are just like a man, boss." Leyanni laughed. "Always trying to show the other guy who has the biggest toy. You are bad."
Marsh could hear the light happiness in Leyanni's voice. Just the sound of her voice was intoxicating. Marsh would bet his last paycheck she was a spitfire. It had been four years since he'd gotten a paycheck, proper, but he'd take that chance, if there was just someone to take his bet.
He told Leyanni that she didn't have to come to the airport, but she was having none of that. She was going to be there to welcome her new boss, come hell or high water. That would be a volcanic eruption, and/or a tidal wave, neither one of which was extremely likely.
Everything was set. Dan Morrison and his family and friends would be in Hawaii in the morning, and Marsh and his family and friends would arrive that evening.
Marsh took his phone and the bottle of water he was drinking, and headed up to the bedroom. At the top of the stairs, there were four small carry-on sized pieces of luggage. He could hear the sound of happy women talking in his bedroom.
Marsh walked quietly to the open door, and stopped to just look. His four favorite women were sitting cross-legged and naked in the middle of his huge bed, and his dog was lying across the foot end of it. Marsh took one look at Wolf, and pitied anyone who might come in and try to mess with any of those beautiful ladies. That would be a death sentence.
Jenni was the first to see Marsh quietly watching them. Her face lit up, and when it did, Becca, then Sue and Trish turned and lit up also.
"Hey there stud," Trish called to him, "what do we have to do to get you to come over here and service your harem?"
"Damn," Marsh exclaimed. "I think you just talked me into it. I may not be cheap, but I'm easy. I'm at your service, beautiful."
The talk on the bed quickly turned to groping hands, kissing lips, moans of pleasure, and then to screams of sexual bliss. When Marsh climbed on the bed, Wolf jumped down and lay down on the floor. Marsh started by kissing his mother-in-law passionately on the lips. That progressed to her breasts, and down to her hot wet pussy.
His tongue worked up and down the outer lips and then move on to splitting them and licking from bottom to top, there was plenty of hot juices to lap up, and Marsh was all over them.
When Marsh moved down to Trish's pussy, she fell into a laying posture and found Becca's wet gash unattended. Trish quickly remedied that, using her lips tongue and the fingers of both hands to set about bringing pleasure to her daughter.
Becca's attention was riveted on Sue's hot snatch, and Sue was pleasuring Jenni. In a matter of minutes there were four very vocally appreciative women moaning and screaming in pleasure, and one very happy man moaning his happiness as he tasted the sweet juices of first his mother-in-law, then when she was worn out he switched to his friend Jenni, who had taken over licking and fingering Becca.
Marsh lost track of which woman was pleasuring the other as he concentrated on the pussy that was in front of him, at any given time. Finally, Marsh moved to Becca and just looked at her for a minute. "Don't just sit there and stare she commanded, make love to me!" Marsh found himself unable to refuse.
By now his cock was diamond hard, and leaking like a cracked dam. He moved over and pointed his cock at Becca's tight, hot, love tunnel and gently but firmly pushed it in till he was balls deep.
"Oh Yes!" Becca exclaimed "Oh yes, Marsh! Fuck me! Oh I need this." As Becca's moans and screams got louder and more unintelligible, Marsh's strokes got more rapid. Becca started with a big climax, and then proceeded to have several more in rapid succession.
Marsh finally couldn't hold out any longer. "I'm gonna cum baby he gasped." Becca's body stiffened as Marsh slammed into her love tunnel deeply. Her toes curled as her legs stiffened and her body began to shake. Her pussy muscles rippled in spasms, and milked the love juice out of Marsh's cock. Marsh directed himself to fall beside her, and wrapped the still quivering red-head beauty in his arms.
The other three gorgeous women had been calling out encouragement to the two lovers, and the broke out in applause when Marsh fell beside Becca. "My God!" exclaimed Trish. "That was a thing of beauty. I'll never get tired of watching you two."
Marsh heard her and the others were saying something but he was way too busy trying to catch his breath to pay attention to what they were saying.
Trish, Sue, and Jenni got off of the bed and headed into the bathroom to pee, douche, and then got in the shower to wash off the sweat. They were just getting out of the shower when Marsh and Becca got up and came into the bathroom.
Becca peed and sat on the bidet, Marsh took the time to wait for Becca to finish on the toilet, then he peed, and headed for the shower that the others had left on for them.
Marsh took his time gently washing Becca from head to toes. And he made sure he didn't miss any spots. When he thought she was clean enough, Becca returned the favor. Marsh had to bend down a little for Becca to reach the top parts effectively, but she persisted and he was thoroughly cleaned by the time she was done. She put away the wash cloth and paused to pick up his spent cock and lovingly kiss it.
Becca then stood up and was promptly wrapped into Marsh's strong embrace. She melted into him and they just stood in the warm water for a few minutes.
"Marsh moved a couple of inches back from Becca. Sweetheart, before I forget. I've invited more people than we can take in one chopper, and way more than we can put in the Gulfstream. Let's go up and get the 53, and either a Huey, or the S-92. That way we have got plenty of transport room."
"You can check me out in the 747, on the way to Hawaii tomorrow. I've got a little bit of transport time but not enough to fly it by myself."
Becca looked at Marsh and replied, "No shit Sherlock. I don't know anybody that wants to try one of those solo. Not even your hot-shot chief pilot. I have no doubt you can keep up as a co-pilot, but I wouldn't even try to take it out by myself."
"I'll call up to the base and have someone get them all ready to go in the morning. I know they've been moved out of the city already so we can get them at our own field. YAY!"
When Marsh finally turned off the water, Trish, Sue, and Jenni were there with dry towels and Marsh and Becca got the royal treatment. The three naked, but dry ladies took the time to make sure Becca and Marsh were completely dry.
Five very happy people made their way back into the bedroom and over to the big bed. It was surprisingly dry, in spite of all the sex juices that had been flowing. The gynecologist hypothesized that they had probably been licked into the hungry mouths of the participants, so not much had a chance to run down on the linens.
Marsh and Trish were the closest to the bed, and turned down the covers. Marsh was asked to climb in first and sleep in the middle of the bed between Becca and Jenni as it turned out. Marsh thought it didn't really matter who was beside him, he was a winner any way you stacked the bodies.
As it turned out, Sue was the last one into bed, so she turned off the lights, and five very happy, and very exhausted people fell asleep in each other's arms.
To be continued.
