The year is 2277, approximately 200 years after The Great War that led to the creation of the aberration that is the Wasteland: the remains of the United States after nuclear war. The Capital Wasteland lies over where Washington D.C once stood, the ruins of the once great city now filled with nuclear beasts, scavenging survivalists and warring factions venturing for technology.

There are all sorts of things happening in the Wasteland, big and small. People are venturing out to rescue the future via any means necessary, seeking to end conflict and make clean water available to all. Some are seeking to raise the largest collection of caps seen on this side of the craters, and to blow it on all the chems they can get their hands on. And then you have the junk-divers, the scroungers, the explorers and the low-lives. Below that are untold horrors.

One of the greatest differences in the post-event world is society. Many people accepted necessary changes, from slavers keeping herds of captured bodies to settlements having to deal with onslaughts of neo-undead warriors. And of course, the new-founded approach to sex. Sex is no longer romantic by nature, and more of an activity or a time passer. Sights of man and woman spending their time bent over desiccated desks and ghouls and whores screaming into the night sky are but expected in the cities, and common in the towns from Megaton to Raven Rock.
