After The Fall

In the later days of 2014 the war on terror escalated into an all-out war, resulting in and sudden and devastating exchange of nuclear weapons. By the time the dust settled Cities across the globe lay in ruin, approximately 70% of the world’s population perished in the first few days, plagues and sickness ravaged the remaining survivors. Now 31 years after the war only 20% of the world’s population walks the earth.

You were born 10 years after the end of civilization so this world is the only one you've ever known. Your parents taught you everything they could to try and prepare you for life in the merciless wastelands, how to scavenge, hunt and even how to kill. They gave you what little education they could. 10 years ago when you were 11 your Father left your little shack for supplies and never returned, 2 years ago the same fate befell your Mother. Since that day you have been fending for yourself, wandering the wastes, doing whatever it takes to survive.

You are Lucas Simms a 21 year old man, alone and adrift in these perilous lands, at 6’3” with well-toned muscles you cut and imposing figure to those you meet, your black hair cropped short in a buzz cut keeping it out of your steel grey eyes.

You gaze through the sights on your M16 assault rifle as you scan the road ahead; you’ve been heading north for about a week now in the hope of finding a trading post or settlement, your supplies are running low and if you don’t find somewhere soon you’re going to start getting hungry fast. The road splits up ahead, one path continuing north the other branching off to the east. You can see nothing in either direction as far as the eye can see.
