"Today is when our nation's war ends," my captain hissed in elvish. "Decades later, we will finally put an end to the South World. Kill the King at all costs, killing the Prince is secondary."

I swallowed. My white-to-lavender hair blew in the breeze, practically glowing in the moonlight, two feet long even in a ponytail. My horns were shorter than everyone else there, barely stretching backwards past my pointed ears, indicating my younger age. My body markings were silver, and theirs a silver-blue. Like the other five around me, I wore navy blue war outfits, lightweight for agility, and silver lining to represent the North's most elite fighting squad.

"Akira, you may be our most experienced, but be careful," he said, singling me out. "I'm sure the King wants you back in one piece."

I gave him a nod.

As if by a silent cue, we all pointed our twisted swords, one in each hand, towards the center of our circle.

"For the north," the captain said.

"For the north," they repeated simultaneously. I didn't join in. They didn't notice.

Everyone put their hoods up. "Let's go."

We all took off towards the castle, running across tree branches to avoid detection by anyone we might cross. We were agile, nimble, and quick, practically flying from one branch to the other.

The castle, at the top of the cliff, was outlined in the moonlit horizon. Ready for our approach, we all took a deep breath, and our shapes vanished. We were invisible, except for our body markings, which became swirling shadows the shade of the dark side of the moon. Even our outfits and blades vanished, except for the center of those blades, which remained a faint green for poison.

We scaled the cliff in minutes, some of it by climbing by hand, some of it by clawing our way up with hooks. By the time I pulled myself over the edge of the castle wall, our captain had already killed the two human guards.

We ran along the edge of the wall, guards silently falling, their last breaths cut short. We scurried down the wall which lead to the keep, into the grand hall, and up the stairs to the king's chambers.

We all noticed the windows were blocked out, hiding the moon. Our shapes slowly became more visible with each step we took.

"They know we're coming," the captain hissed. "Be prepared."

We slay a new guard every floor. By the time we reached the top of the tower, our outlines were fully discernible. The advantage of invisibility had been nearly eliminated.

The six elves were met with fifty armed guards, all wearing the golden badge of honor. They were humanity's finest.

And the elves cut them down like grass.
