Amy's new adventure

Amy and Mark had been married for about 8 years. They had met when Amy was a college intern at the company Mark worked for. After six months working together, they started dating. Six months after that, they were married. 8 years later, Amy was now 30 and Mark was 41. She had been a stay at home mom, as Mark had moved up to become a top executive at his company and was making a good amount of money. However, their life would soon come crashing down.

Due to a buyout at the company Mark worked for, Mark was let go from his job, after working for the company for 20 years. He tried to find work, but no one was hiring him. Several months had gone by with no prospects, and bills were piling up. They were now three months behind on their rent, and the landlord was threatening eviction. Amy called the landlord to see if they could work out a deal.

"Is there anyway we can work out something? Maybe some smaller payments, then once we are back on our feet we can add what we are behind to our monthly rent payments?"

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that. My rentals are my main income, and I can't go this many months without any payments." the landlord said.

Amy began crying, begging him to work out some kind of deal. "Please! I will do whatever it takes to not have to be evicted!"

The landlord was quiet for a few minutes. Then he said quietly, "come to my house tomorrow afternoon and we will see what kind of deal we can work out."

Amy was elated. "Thank you! Thank you so much. I will be there tomorrow!"
