And It's Sex & War

“You’ve finally come!”
Brittanya was sitting by the cliff, admiring the view of Beldem. Though there wasn’t much to see, it was still a pretty sight from time to time. The small hut-like houses were beautifully lit by the full moon and by the numerous stars, and the chilling breeze gave the trees of the town a peaceful motion.

Her legs hanging from the edge of the sharp cliff, Brittanya was lost in her thoughts. Dyn walked to her, and sat by her side. “Yeah, sorry... Mr Brownstone had to ask me to cut him some fire wood.” Brittanya giggled at her friend’s misadventure and threw her head back at the sky.

She was the best looking girl Dyn had ever seen in Beldem – not that he had ever gone anywhere else than that. With her long jet black hair, her fair skin and her piercing blue eyes, she would have made a slave out of him. But she didn’t want to.
From the day she’d been adopted by the mayor, she and Dyn had been the best of friends. Though he had always wanted to get in a more serious relation, she had always politely refused, claiming she “didn’t want to ruin what they had.” He knew it wasn’t that, but didn’t quite understand there could have been another reason.
“What did you want to meet me for?” Dyn asked, almost whispering.

Brittanya closed her eyes for a moment and enjoyed the sound. Silence and the blowing wind. “I’m going.”

Dyn never really understood his friend. She’d always been the type of girl to chase adventures and to flee monotony. Ever since he knew her, she’d been talking about how she wanted to get out of Beldem and explore the rest of Tempest.
After all, people of Beldem weren’t quite known to get out of Beldem. In fact, one could count of one hand the number of people that had ever moved out of the outcast town to settle in one of the larger cities. But Beldem was a place known for its nothingness. There were farmers... and crops. No action, nothing.

“I can’t wait to leave this hole and to go explore the whole continent, Dyn! Can you imagine me? From Quella-Rah, the smallest town of all, all the way to Laevapolis, Tempest’s cultural capital! I’m finally going to live a little.” Brittanya seemed embarrassed to talk that way about her home, but couldn’t hide how she felt. She knew her thoughts would hurt her friend, but she didn’t care anymore. After all, she didn’t have any intentions to see him again after that night anyway.

“I don’t understand, Britt. Why do you hate Beldem so much? It’s peaceful, the people are nice, and... There’s me.” His voice was shaky.
“I’ll find plenty of ‘you’ wherever I-“

She stopped right there and opened her eyes. Dyn had his face buried in his hands, at the verge of crying like a baby. But she was inconsiderate. She didn’t want to hurt him, but wasn’t going to baby him.

“I’m sorry.”
Brittanya got closer to her friend, placing her arms around his neck and forcing him to look at her. She smiled, and said: “Tonight, we’re going to be together one last time.”

Of course, it didn’t mean sex, and Dyn knew it. The people of Beldem didn’t have quite the same conception of ‘sex’ has the rest of Tempest. While cities like Laevapolis were quite loose on the subject, in Beldem, it had remained a tradition to only make love in order to conceive a baby. However, most people did it behind closed doors anyway.

Dyn had only had one sexual encounter in his whole life. At the moment, he was 18 and his experience came from when he still was a minor, attending the Beldem Youngster Agriculture Formation Camp – if that can help you with his age. He had been set aside by a cute and bubbly monitor that had just turned legal, and they had sex. Quite an awkward first experience. A few months later, when she was 13, Brittanya was found unconscious and without any memories and was adopted by the mayor of Beldem. Dyn fell in love at first sight and, from that day forwards, Dyn promised himself he’d have his next sexual relation with her.

However, he knew Brittanya wasn’t the saint he was. She’d been known as an easy girl, though all tries Dyn had made on her had failed.
