Animus

There came a sickening sound, a grating of metal and a squelching of flesh. Because of the shape of the room, designed so that every word from the king's mouth could be clearly by all, the sound was heard near simultaneously by all present. The protrusion of the blade tip from the front of the man's chest was more difficult to see, but for the red darkness that seeped quickly down the royal robes. If anybody was watching, they would have seen that the life had already left the king's eyes, and that the only thing preventing his now lifeless cadaver from slumping down the the floor was the fact that the blade which had sundered his chest had been plunged through the high back of his throne.

As it was, nobody was watching, for at that moment, a multitude of actions occurred simultaneously.
