As they settled into their seats, a thousand immerse sensors in each chair reacted to its occupant?s presence and began to change their reality. The buzz of conversation faded as each person in the room was pulled inexorably into the game.

For all its modern gloss, the game was the oldest in the world. A game of strategy and conflict between two armies. Black and white.

The game was chess.

The audience would experience the game through the eyes and sensations of a chess piece. Moved by unseen hands; their fates decided for them.

Each generation reinvents the style of chess, if not its content. This virtual generation was no different. For them being taken meant something other than being killed.

The armies, black and white, took up their positions on the board. The game controllers prepared their strategies.
