Boarding School

The thoughts in Jeff's mind drift about as he rides in the backseat of a black luxury sedan that is taking him to what will be his home for the next nine months. He thinks about about his old high school and the friends he'll no longer be having classes with and driving around town together. He will no longer be apart of the Jaguars soccer and track teams. Then his thoughts settle on his parents and turn angry at the notion of them deciding to send him to a boarding school before the start of his senior year. This was supposed to be his year of glory. Easy classes, hanging out with friends, and hooking up with the younger girls. But now, all that has been thrown out the window because his parents suddenly became concerned about his future and they believed that going to a prestigious school for a year would help him get into the top colleges, which Jeff could care less about attending. But there wasn't any reasoning with them. It didn't help that his older sister had just gotten a job teaching at this boarding school and betrayed her younger brother by convincing their parents to enroll him. Jeff knew he was going to hate it and was already trying to plan a way to get out of this place. He had only heard about it from his family, and it already made him sick, recalling the way they acted like it was some resort that didn't even feel like a school. He had no interest in going to some school for snobby girls and cocky rich guys just so he might have a chance at getting in an Ivy League school.

His thoughts were pulled back into the present when the driver announced that they were getting close. He had been staring out the window this whole time, but now Jeff actually focused on what was around him. Most of what he saw was forest, with a few nice houses sprinkled here and there, but for the most part it was very secluded and quiet. The car started slowing down before stopping at the foot of a tall wrought-iron gate. The gates slowly opened after the driver spoke into the monitor. The car steadily moved through a winding path surrounded by trees. For a second, Jeff wondered if this school even existed, but as soon as he finished his pondering, they drove through the trees into a large clearance of land. Jeff's jaw dropped as he gazed upon acre after acre of beautiful land. There were pristine fountains, buildings beautifully built of stone, fields of grass that had equipment for every sport imaginable. The next thing he noticed were the students. They were spread across the ground, some reading, others chatting while walking with books in their arms. He noticed the uniform. The male's had a navy blue vest with a gold T on the right side of the chest, which was worn on top of a white long sleeve shirt. The men seemed to be able to choose their pants as long as they were somewhat fancy. Some had black pants, others sported khakis or corduroy. The females seemed to have a bit more variety in attire, they again looked like they had some choice in top, seeing as Jeff spotted some girls in white and blue blouses, dresses, and even a few tank tops. Before he could get a good look at the ladies the driver took him up the circle drive in front of the biggest building that had an entrance between massive pillars of white stone.

The driver told him if he went inside, his counselor would be waiting for him, and his belongings would be taken to his dorm room. Jeff stepped out of the car and stretched his stiff muscles. He stuck out in his gym shorts and red t-shirt, and he hurried inside before people saw him and labeled him the "new kid".

As Jeff sauntered inside he couldn't help but admire the beauty of the architecture around him. "This place must have cost a fortune," he thought to himself.

He was caught by surprise when a light, pleasant voice interrupted his sight-seeing, "Jeffery Adams? Jeffery Adams? Is that you?"

Jeff whirled around and...
