Booth Babe

You're just finishing unpacking your clothes when the hotel phone rings. You close the drawer that you've just put your shirts in and walk back to the queen size bed, sitting near the small table that holds the phone and a clock radio.

You can't believe you've got the room to yourself. You were sure they were going to put you in with Ryan, and you were not looking forward to that. Douche.

You grab the phone and answer with just your name, "Doug."

"Doug, it's Mr. Li," he states, although you recognized your boss's voice immediately. "When you've finished settling in I'd like you to come by my room for a talk."

Strange. All the planning for the convention took place days ago. You wonder what this is about. Are you in trouble?

You don't think so, but you've been uneasy about this job since you took it 9 months ago. You're the only non-Chinese employee there. It's primarily a hardware company, and you, as a software guy, don't seem to get a lot of respect.

Still, after graduating from college two years ago, it was really tough finding work. You lived with your parents for more than a year, unemployed. All in all, you are grateful for your position at Li-tech, even if it's far from the perfect place to work.

"Sure, no problem Mr. Li. I'll be over in a few."

Li grunts and hangs up.
