The Derene Empire was characterized by it's expansive trade network, it's surplus of luxury goods such as gold and ivory, and its temperate climate. Though as more and more people are born into it, the pressure on constant expansion increases exponentially. That's where the Vixen come in. The Vixen are the Emperor's personal fighting force. Only one exists for every 10,000 Derenese citizens. Trained from early childhood, less than 5% make it through to take their oath. Although many Vixen stay in the empire's capital city and around the Emperor himself, they play an instrumental role on the fringes of the territory.
Terra was one such Vixen. Too unpredictable for a spotlight in the capital, she has been sent away to the eastern border of the Empire in order to secure it. She stands in the last major stronghold. She stood deathly still in the belly of her workshop, sweat visibly dripping off her body as she bends over a workbench, wearing nothing except her goggles, gloves, and apron. On the work bench is her lever action rifle, it was one of a kind and easily fit in her boot holster on the road. There's a bright flash as finishes sealing another bullet, putting it aside in a pile of them as she can hear a knock on the heavy metal door. She moves her goggles up on her forehead. "Come in!" she shouts as she takes off the gloves and turns to face the door.
The door swings open and a stout dwarven man walks in, holding a large chest in his arms as he clumsily kicks the door behind him "Oh hey Dex" She smiles walking over to him and helping him put the box on the table. "Whatcha got for me this time?"
"Oh a few things and some-"he looks over and notices her nudity and quickly puts a hand over his eyes and looks away, and then peaks through his fingers before shaking his head and turning his back to her. "For All Hammer's sake, put some clothes on lass. You know I'm married!" Terra chuckles to herself.
"Yeah I know, that's why I enjoy messing with you" She turns around and grabs a baggy pair of pants and pulls them on. "Better?" he looks over and sees that an uncomfortable amount of her breasts were visible.
"I, I suppose, since you seem to get off by being difficult" he chuckles and hands her a rolled up piece of parchment with the golden wax seal of the Emperor on it. "Got new orders, there's an island just off the coast that you're to pacify before the empire sends out any settlers. They say the place is a good source of fish and fruit bearing trees" She takes the letter and reads through it.
"Oh great, a Vixen going out to fish and pick fruit, and here I thought I would finally get to go big game hunting in the north. Even made a special bullet and everything." She holds up a single round. The dwarf curious takes it and looks it over, seeing the grooves cut into it and small runes engraved. "Pretty much garaunteed to put a hole the size of, well you, in whatever I hit with it. Thinking of calling it MOAB, Mother of all Bullets" she takes it back and puts it away.
"Well that's some fine craftsmanship, but don't worry, there will be plenty of game on this island." he unlocks his chest and begins to pull out small boxes "Emperor even paid for me to develop a few new toys, though you can only take one, I talk to a lot of you Vixen girls you understand."
"Gee Dex, way to make a girl feel special" She chuckles as she looks over the boxes. "So why don't you show me my choices here."
He opens up the first box. It's very small and inside is a class ball, a strange purple smoke fills it. "Smash this on the ground near an enemy and when they inhale the fumes they'll pass out. Though fair warning the style of weapon is employed by the goblin tribe on the island, so you may find more once your there. Just touch this to it to be able to tell what the fume does" He pulls out a small silver stick which glows when he touches the orb. he puts it down and goes to the next box. This one is about the size of your forearm and when he opens it, it's obvious. A wrist mounted grappling hook. "Well, you're a smart girl, I'm sure you can figure this one out." He moves to the last box and opens it up. showing inside is set of obnoxious goggles. "Wear these and you'll be able to see in darkness, or blinding light" he says as he flips the switch back and forth.
