Cult

“So do you want to start a cult with me?”

Words I’d thought I’d never here. They were shocking and undeniably Interesting.

“Yes” was the only thing I could say back without being utterly confused. Saying yes felt right.

Elizabeth looked at me,”oh good I thought I’d need to explain that we could get filthy rich off this.”

“That’s fine.” You looked your good friend in the eyes. “What do we need to do?”

She looked back. “We need a messiah who’s a prophet and a leader. That’s you.” She smiled handing me a paper. “We’re gonna start out by taking advantage of people, people who need help.”

“Okay.” I replied unsure of it. I looked at the price of paper. It was for an AA group.

“You need to go there tomorrow and find someone. That could join a small group of “helpers””

I smiled

The next day I slowly road the bus to the AA meeting. Every stop made me feel ever more nervous. As I walked in to the building something clicked. Maybe it was the fresh brewed coffee, or the donuts or the incredibly beautiful girl who led the meeting, but now I felt like it was destined for me to do my duty after the meeting.

I sat through the meeting shared a BS but sympathetic story and laid in hints of philosophical idealism. This visibly intrigued several members of my new audience.

After the meeting you greet most of the people drinking your nice warm coffee and laughing with people at their stories and delusions. These delusions we will exploit.
