Growing and learning

You are the young Prince William; son of King Tomas and Queen Alisa. You have brown hair, like your farther and green eyes like your mother. You were born at the same time as the Dragon Ling hatched.

Adjacent to Your parent’s castle lived 2 dragons in an artificial cave. They were not pets or slaves they just chose to live there. Stardust, a female gold dragon, had guarded your mother until your father a game of riddles against Stardust. This proves his worthiness to marry your mother. There were rumours that he won Stardust as well. Stardust had silver spines, eyes and claws; a yellow belly and most distinctively a ring of triangular spines around each eye that combined with her long thin horns looked like a shooting star which is where she got her name. Stardust’s mate was a gold dragon with orange belly spines and claws and red eyes, called Thor. Ling had yellowish gold scales, a lot yellower than her mother and father. She had orange spines like her farther but her mother’s silver eyes.

You had a sister, Elizabeth, they were now guarded by the brother of Ling as was tradition in your lands and the lands around yours. You also had a older brother called Henry he was training to be a knight. He had gone away to be trained and you hardly ever saw him.

Your parents would often visit your sister. They would also visit the dragons while you were growing up meaning you were often left with your nurse and the baby dragon Ling. Ling was curious and intelligent; she could speak human languages. Your nurse saw no problem teaching you both to read and write. Writing was hard for Ling, she could not use a quill so had to etch the symbols into a tablet made of bees wax with her claw.
