Elsward Chronicles

Evan did his best to steady himself as the cobblestone tore and morphed from the obscene force below him. Lewis had already evacuated with most of the others, but the darkness will take more than the building in a matter of minutes.

Evan tracked carefully down the stone stairwell as the darkness grew more heavy, suffocating even as it seemed to snuff out all forms of light with each tremor. He had to move quickly. He knew that as voices began to whisper bitter nothings in his skull.

"Keep going! Keep going! You have to keep going!" He said in bursts to ward off the internal screaming that seems to rattle in his thoughts.

The seconds felt like hours as he crumbled to his knees. The voices bombarding his skull with dark truths and mad prophecies, barely moving until he saw a blazing light flicker and dance in the abyss. The voices subsided to a large degree as she warmed his bones and soul.

With a grunt, he forced himself back up and willed his way down the main corridor, shutting the rune doors behind him. Sealing the effects in the study hall...along with them.

"Kindra! The tear’s too strong! If we don't leave it'll consume the both of us!" Evan leaned against the metal doors as he tried to warm his hands at the piercing cold, he fought back the urge to vomit as the voices reminded him of Thanir, and how he can't wait to see him for the chat he spoke of.

The woman turned to face him. Her golden eyes illuminated the growing darkness that seemed to pulse around her, "I can close it Evan!" She gave a harsh grunt as she strained against the ethereal tear. It gives slightly, but not much in terms of real progress. The darkness continued to pour out to consume the last protesting force that obstructs its freedom. The red to dull purple flames already showing the damage it has wrought on her body.

"I have to do this Evans! If I don't...the city-"

"The city is lost Kin! We... We can't save it, and both of us dying here won't change that!" He began to step towards her. Hand grasping her scorching skin, "I'm sorry, but we have to go!" He wrapped an arm around her waist as he pulled her from the tear, she screamed as she tried to pull from his grip, but even she was too weak. As he murmurs the language spoken by few, The rift grew wider and the world became distorted as six grotesque hands grabbed at the edges of the rift and pulled.

Evan didn't look. The city was theirs now. There was no need to acknowledge its presence. He yelled out the last of the incantation and warped them out of there, Just as the tear gave way for its new inhabitants.
