John Doe, you are a freelance mage, taking the highest paying jobs you can in Fiore. You manage to eek out a living doing mostly small missions that most mage guilds wouldn’t accept because of the feeble pay, but you can’t afford to be picky. It’s not so bad though: you’ve always been able to pay for a room at night and you’ve never really gone hungry. It’d be nice if you had a few extra Jewels every now and then to afford a luxury every so often, but most of the essentials are always paid for. Even if you aren’t striking it rich, its still a better life than the one you had before.

But the past is just that: the past, and you’ve put it behind you. Reminiscing about those dark times doesn’t help you make ends meet, and unfortunately what little jobs there were are beginning to dry up. You’ve always brushed the thought aside whenever it came up, but with you meager savings depleting fast, it seems you have little choice but to consider applying to a guild. For as long as you can remember, you’ve had something of an aversion to guilds, but that’s where all the jobs are going and you need the work.

This begs the question though, what kind of magic do you wield?
