Finding Her Pack

*AUTHOR NOTE: This story takes place in an alternate reality. I basically picked a place on the map by throwing a dart, so city names have been changed to reflect the Alt reality. Also, this is my first attempt at a Furry story, so please have some patience with me as I work on this story. Expect edits as well as I go back to flesh out details that I may have left out before.

The countryside was beautiful. She loved watching it go by as they drove to their destination, a place called Grifton in South Carolina. It wasn't a big enough town to be called a city, but it had a lot of interesting places to visit and take pictures of. She couldn't wait to get started!

"Kohi? Kohi are you listening?" An irritated growl came from the front passenger seat of their car. She sunk lower in her seat and tried not to whimper as the bear focused on her. Alan Warner was the lead on this job, and Kohi knew he had a temper. He had also been trying to get her in bed for months. The little coyote knew he was probably going to use this trip as an excuse to try something.

Next to him in the driver's seat was a weasel named Brian Coltrain. He shot a glance at Alan and sighed. Brian had worked with Alan on a few different jobs and hated it. The guy was a brute and slave driver. A week on the road with him was going to be a nightmare.

"I-I was listening Alan. We have four stops in Grifton and we'll be spending the whole week there."

"Right. After we drop our stuff off at the hotel, we'll all load up in van with Jeremy and Mitch and head to our first destination."

Jeremy was a mouse and the one person on the team that Kohi felt comfortable with. He had a girlfriend and mostly kept to himself, but was friendly when spoken to. He was also a sketch artist for the magazine they worked for. Along with him riding in the equipment van was Mitch the otter. Mitch was laid back and friendly. For some reason, he was the only one that Alan didn't boss around, but Kohi had never really understood why.

"Today is the abandoned school right? Then we have old church tomorrow and we take a break Wednesday."

"So you were listening.... Yeah, that's right. Thursday we visit an old hospital in Athenstown, then come back to Grifton Friday to spend the night at the old mill."

"People say that place is haunted right," asked Brian.

"Haunted? Like, real ghosts," asked Kohi. She wasn't scared of ghosts or anything, but suspected it was a setup to try and scare her. Brian just shrugged.

Kohi liked taking pictures of old and abandoned places. They had an air of mystery and a unique charm that most people just didn't see. She was really looking forward to seeing the old church. It had been damaged in a fire a few years ago and hadn't been repaired. Her research showed that the plans to rebuild had been put on hold and the money instead being used to buy a new plot of land and build a more modern church.

"Kohi, once we get to the hotel, I need to have a word with you in private," growled Alan. "So after you drop off your stuff, come to my room."

This time, she couldn't supress the small whimper.
