Homovirus

*10 days later*

Dr. John Redmond took his place in front of the awaiting crowd. Sorting his papers, he gazed into the audience of cameras and microphones, the media ready to catch his every word and move. Never before had he been requested to do this.

"Good afternoon, I am Dr. Johnathan Redmond of St. Rita's Medical Centre. I will be speaking to you today about the recent outbreak of the HS1F1 Virus, or Homovirus, as the media are referring it to."

The young doctor turned the page, looking back up at the expectant reporters.

"The virus is highly contagious to men, with the number of casualties having reached ten thousand as of last night. There are no confirmed cases of infected women, we believe the virus only affects the Y chromosome. Cases of the virus have been confirmed in Australia, Brazil, China, Iran, Italy, Mexico, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States, though we expect that to increase significantly. There are no confirmed fatalities, as the virus does not attack the immune system."

John shifted uncomfortably, adjusting his glasses. He hated this part.

"Immediate symptoms from infection include sweating and a dry throat. Within 12 hours, skin has become sensitive to touch, especially nipples, penis and prostate, libido has increased significantly and the penis and anus will begin aching without sexual contact, as well as formation to sentences becoming limited to short words. Mental changes also begin at this stage, with attraction to men increasing and women decreasing. Within 24 hours, a patient will be completely infected, with an inability to form sentences, significant increase in semen production volume and production of a clear fluid from the anus. Mentally, they will only have one thing on their mind, which is sexual pleasure with other men."

Dr. Redmond swallowed, eyes boring into him as he described what could only be thought of as an imaginary dream that is truly a nightmare.

"There is no current vaccine or cure to the virus, though there is extensive research and testing happening at this very moment. The virus is spread by distribution of bodily fluids. This includes semen, anal fluids or saliva of an infected male. Ingestion of these fluids through the mouth or rectum is the most severe, while any contact on skin can also infect. It is also noteworthy to inform you all that those infected tend to seek out a sexual partner, with many of those infected unwilling participants. I advise avoiding contact with any men you are not absolutely sure are not infected and staying in a secure place. Those infected can and will break doors and windows in search of a sexual partner, consensual or not."

John set his papers down and looked up at the ready journalists. He took a deep breath.

"Any questions?"
