Hypnosis

A/N: I’m going to warn you now, I’m not extremely versed in the lore of DC comics. And while I do know that the particle accelerator from STAR Labs isn’t how the Flash gets his powers in the comics, I’m going to include this because it’s a good source of power acquirement for my MC. Try to be patient with my fact checking of stuff, but if anything is glaringly obvious, please do feel free to point that out.

I shrugged off my coat and entered my office. Another boring night as a hypnotist, I guessed. You’d think it would be more fun, but nope. A lot of people just wanted help fixing their bad habits like biting nails. I heard thunder boom outside, and gasped as I looked out the window and saw an energy field was tearing towards me. I stared at it, unmoving, my pocket watch I used for hypnosis in my hand, and the energy engulfed me.

My hands crackled with energy, and the watch slid between them, and my hands glowed purple. I stared at them, transfixed, as I moved my hands, causing purple glows to linger in the air.

“Mr. Forrest? Can you speak?” a voice asked, and I turned to see a wrinkled old man standing there, but my hands pulsated like a cuttlefish, and I felt an... urge.

“No. Go back to your home, and never disturb me again.” I tried.

“Of course.” the man said with a quick bow, and left me in peace. I stared at my hands, which had stopped glowing now. I had the power of mind control!

TODAY

I was crouching behind a small bank in Gotham. While a lot of the stupid criminals went for the big banks, I always went for the small fish. Mostly because big fish call in the superheroes. And I had no desire to tangle with them.

I took a deep breath and opened the back door and walked inside. Several security guards went for their guns, but I lifted my hands, and the cuttlefish glow pulsated again.

“Stop. I have full permission to be here and do whatever I want.” I said, and they all nodded and went back to talking and laughing. I grinned to myself, and kept walking through the bank, keeping my hands pulsating so I could easily entrance whoever I wished. I was on the second floor and heading towards the vault.

“Ahem.” a voice said, and I turned.

“Aw, hell.” I grumbled.

“I assume you know who I am.” the vigilante smirked.

“You’re Batgirl.” I said, and the girl smirked. She stalked forwards, but a bullet grazed her arm. We both looked down to the ground level, where the Joker stood grinning manically.

“Hello!” he called up. Batgirl snarled, and leapt down to deal with him. I backed up and ran for the vault, but an attractive girl blocked my path.

“Uh uh. Mr. J just saved your life. You can’t take his score!” the girl protested.

“Get out of my way.” I gritted my teeth. Harley Quinn laughed and I ran at her and she hefted her baseball club, but I slid between her legs and smoothly threw her over the railing. She screeched as she fell, and I went for the vault, and started unlocking it, for one of the guards had given me the code, when I felt something slithering across my back. I whipped around and saw a breath-taking woman standing there, hands outstretched.

As I watched, vines coiled around my neck, and started to tighten.

“Stop.” I grunted, and my hands pulsated. The plant girl gasped and stumbled backwards. I tore the vines off my throat and opened the vault door.

“Well, do you usually just guess the lock?” a voice cackled, and I turned to see the Joker sitting on the balcony.

“I didn’t guess it.” I admitted.

“Well then how did you know the combination?” Joker giggled.

“I asked the guard.” I smirked.

“And he gave it to you! Fascinating. Did you pay this guard?” Joker asked curiously.

“Nope.” I said, and wiggled my fingers, letting the cuttlefish glow light them up. Joker’s eyes widened.

“You have powers.” he grinned, licking his lips.

“Yes, I do. And you’re sort of interrupting my big score.” I said, and walked back into the bank vault. Joker strolled in after me and started pocketing a few things.

“Why don’t you, ah, join up with me and my crew? We could use a persuasive fellow like yourself! You wouldn’t even have to fight Batman.” Joker grinned toothily. I hesitated.

“Best decide now. Because Batty’s on his way.” Joker laughed.

“I’m in.” I said decisively.

“Excellent! I’ll send the girls to help you loot and pillage. And don’t worry, they’ll be on their best behavior.” Joker bowed with a dramatic flourish and cackled his way out of the vault. I focused on looting the vault, and was soon joined by Harley and Ivy.

“Sorry for tossing you off a terrace.” I apologized to the very sexy Harley Quinn, and she noticed me admiring her cleavage, legs, and stomach. She smiled coyly.

“Don’t worry about it. After all, you’re part of the team now.” Harley giggled, and went back to grabbing cash.

“Batty!” I heard Joker exclaim, and Harley and Ivy exchanged looks.

“Perhaps we should head out.” Ivy said, and Harley agreed.

“Without the Joker?” I asked, stuffing one last handful of cash into my bag and Harley nodded. I looked down at Batman, standing imposingly in front of Joker.

“Goddamnit.” I sighed, and tossed Harley my bag of cash.

“That’s mine, Quinn.” I said, and the sexy criminal giggled and skipped after Poison Ivy. Then, I raised my hands toward Batman, and let my power flow through me, and my hands shimmered brighter than they ever had. Batman froze instantly.

“Joker!” I warned. The insane criminal gave me a salute, and put a bullet through Batman’s neck. I dropped my hands, and ran after Harley and Ivy, who were fleeing from a hole in the wall.
