When in his state of powerful emotion of failure he grabbed his head in frustration and saw the world more clearly, heard much more beyond the room, and even felt the slight change in temperature from his heavy breathing. He had unlocked his semblance.

His semblance one that while useless by himself allowed him to boost others. While helpful to others when used precisely he could enhance specific attributes such as hearing, vision, touch, and other senses. With this support power can make subject more open to his hypnosis persuasion. He used the remainder of his first year to forge and refine these skills now to put it in action. Of course he couldn't just hypnotize any and every person he wanted so simply he had to spend time on each one.
