Love's Triumph: Deep Affection

Hello

Here is Genie's Story from LT: Silver Lining. I hope you enjoy. It is self-edited and all characters are above the age of consent. I look forward to hearing what you think. IR2R

Deep Affection

Genevieve stood in the lobby of the busiest clinic in Henson City. She missed her master and friends but Master was insistent that she go out and explore the world. She felt alone because for over two centuries, she stayed close to her mentor, but Master was wise and never wrong.

"Hello, are you the transfer from Winston. We need to get you ready stat." An older lady barked.

Before Genie could reply, she continued. "Come on girly, let's go." She ordered. Genie moved.

Her new supervisor filled her in as she escorted her to the office she was assigned to. It was obvious that her supervisor had very little patience, so Genie refrained from asking questions. Soon she given equipment, and expected to get to work. The clinic moved quickly. It took a few minutes, but Genie fit right in.

"Dr. Scott, your new nurse is here. This is Genevieve Baptiste. She is being assigned to assist you with your patients." Dr. Scott didn't even look up.

"Good, bring me the files on James Davis, and then place him in a room. After that see to any other patients that are waiting." He ordered.

"Yes sir," Genie replied and turned to go do her job. As she walked out, she noticed the other nurses standing around, whispering. She felt strange. As she walked passed, one whispered, "Good luck," and they walked off.

Genie ignored the jab. Not one to engage in gossip, Genie focused on the task at hand.

Dr. Scott exhaled, then he looked in the mirror. He was old. He was much older than anyone here. At first, when he was granted a long life for stopping a heinous murder, he was happy. The gift of immortality was wonderful. Decades flew by and then he saw her. Sia!

Sia was a dancer. Many men wanted her, but she chose him. She was the first woman he fell for instantly and he knew they would have a lifetime together. She came with conditions, but that didn't matter, she was everything he ever dreamed of. They married. Years passed, and she grew older and weaker. They had sixty years of wedded bliss, and then she passed. They had no children. Sadly, he knew he would never father a child, and Sia accepted his infertility. There were no children, and Desmond relocated, and resolved to remain single.

The death of his wife devastated him. After her death, he dreaded being able to live forever. Love was an illusion. It was simply hormones and chemicals that tricked a human into thinking they were connected to another. When that person died, they were left alone and hurting.

Genevieve was so innocent, but he would not allow this attraction to go beyond the surface. Desmond Scott sighed.

"Dr. Scott," Genevieve called. He stood with his back turned. Her voice touched something deep inside of his soul. "Dr. Scott?" She queried.

Genie was puzzled. It was as if he did not acknowledge her. He didn't want to scare the girl, so he refused to face her. He knew the others in the clinic whispered things about him. He was also blunt, and that was why the nurses that were often assigned to him left. Genevieve would leave too. Desmond Scott closed his eyes. Genevieve! he pondered. That was such a beautiful name. Shaking his doldrums, he reminded himself of the job he had to do. She waited, and called his name once more. The sound of his name on her lips awoke a desire deep inside his soul. He clamped it down.

"Dr. Scott, Mr. Davis is in room three, and here is his file." Genevieve insisted, perplexed that he never looked at her. She needed to see his eyes. It was something about this man. He was unique.

"Thank you, Nurse, now take care of the other patients please." He reminded her and she went back to work.

"Ms. Phillips?" Genie called. A very pregnant girl stood. Genie smiled, as the baby moved and her mother stroked her burgeoning middle to calm her.

"Come with me. Can you step on the scale please?" She took her weight, then her vitals.

"Are there any problems or concerns the doctor should know about" Genie asked.

Christine Phillips eyed the new nurse warily. She was different. She'd never seen anyone like her before. When she was younger, her grandmother told her that her family was gifted. They could read spirits. This ladies aura was unlike any she'd ever encountered. It was practically translucent. Her baby kicked once more and she knew. The nurse was more than what she seemed.

"Are you here to take my baby? Why are you here?" She asked.

Genie was stunned. "I'm just a nurse, Ms. Phillips. I'm here to help Dr. Scott." She explained. Christine touched her and genie felt a surge of power. She'd been warned of mediums, but had never met one before today. "I am no threat to you or your little one." She explained and the young mother relaxed

"You're not evil. Your aura is clear." She looked around and exhaled. "People think my family is strange, but we see things. That's why Dr. Scott is the only doctor I trust. Even though they tried to take him," he survived. "Now you're here and I know he will be safe."

Genie froze. "Come with me. Let's move to another room." Christine followed.

Christine was a beautiful girl, really young. Her blond hair was thin, but she could tell that the girl was cared for. She wondered about her family, and a part of her was curious. Dr. Scott walked out with Mr. Davis.

"Nurse, you're not here to daydream. I have patients waiting." He barked, bringing her out of her reverie. Genie saw his entire face for the first time. She smiled, and moved on to the next patient.

Desmond James Scott was a hard man. He wasn't easily liked. He knew the people that worked with him wished he'd leave. Well, he couldn't; he had a reason for being here and until he achieved his goal, he could not move on.

Desmond looked in the mirror on the wall in his private restroom. Blankness stared back. There was nothing left in him that was remotely human. This new nurse, this Genie intrigued him. Something about her made him uneasy. Today was her first day, but by this time tomorrow, he'd know everything about her life.

Someone knocked and Desmond was annoyed.

"Yes!" he barked as the clinic manager, Mrs. Giraud entered.

"So, I see you have a new nurse? What do you think of her?" She asked

"She's a nurse. As long as she does her job, I won't have to think about her." He barked.

"Ah, I see. Well she is special. Don't scare her off." Then she sat. Desmond stared at her.

"What do you want, Mauve?" he demanded.

"I want you to stop pushing everyone away. You need to live, Desmond." She explained,

Desmond walked away from her. He looked out of a window. He sighed, and then the memories returned. He closed his eyes as he relived the memory of his beautiful Sia slipping away. The only one with her was him. He did everything he could, but she just gave up. Desmond closed his eyes. That woman was a part of him. He would never allow himself to be fooled that way again.

At first he grieved, sinking deep into himself. Years passed, and remotely he pursued a medical degree. Eventually, he became a resident, and now a sought after physician. There was only one dark spot, he no longer believed in love. Love was an illusion, a farce. Many of his patients were victims of its folly.

Mauve waited. Like Desmond, she also had gifts. She met Genevieve earlier, and she knew. The girl had a destiny here. Her life would intertwine with the male before her. Desmond would live again. All she had to do was stand back and watch.

"You know what we have been tasked to do. She doesn't belong here. This girl, Genevieve, needs to go. I don't need someone like her around. Send her away, Mauve. Have her reassigned. There are other clinics." Desmond demanded.

Mauve looked at him. Mauve had existed on this plane since the first angel fell. She was a guardian. Much like Sylvester, she had renewed angels under her charge. Desmond was a unique case. His depression over the death of his wife made him susceptible to dark forces. For years, Mauve defended him, and a few years ago, he emerged. He pursued a medical degree. He helped thousands of people. He just did not become involved personally. She knew he needed help, so she reached out to Sylvester. Sylvester came and told her to back off and let him heal. She did, then Sylvester told him he was sending Genevieve. He asked that she look after the girl. Genevieve arrived and Mauve knew. Desmond needed to meet her.

She sighed, "It's time, Desmond. You must let her go."

"Get out! You have no right. Never speak of Sia." The crack in his shield became visible as tears from in his eyes. Mauve pressed on.

"Would she want you living like this? You know you must move on Desmond." Mauve whispered.

"So let me guess, Genevieve will help me, right?" He sneered.

Desmond was over two centuries old. He closed his eyes, willing the memories to fade. Mauve paused. If she answered truthfully, he'd over react. If she did not answer at all, he'd shut down.

"The truth is she's finding her place. She needs you as much as you need her. I'm not saying that you have to marry the girl, but help her on this journey. Help her find her place." Mauve paused. "After all, didn't someone point you in the right direction once?"

Desmond didn't respond at first. Then, he sighed. Mauve smiled; she had him.

She then stood. "I must go Desmond. Think about what I've said." Then she left. As she was walking out Genevieve was entering. Sensing a higher being, the girl bowed immediately.

"Get up child. It's OK. You are welcomed here despite what anyone says." Mauve assured her.

"I'm sorry Mistress; I wanted to check in with Dr. Scott before I file my paper work. I can come back."

"It's alright, Come in Genevieve. We need to finish." Desmond called from the door.

Genie looked up and her heart raced. He was gorgeous. She had never been so intrigued. Mauve smiled and left as Genie entered his office. For a moment, she was embarrassed, wondering what he thought of her bowing before Mauve. Desmond sighed, and dropped his glamour. Their eyes connected and Genie knew exactly what he was.

He knew; he saw recognition dawn in her eyes. Slowly, Genevieve in dropped her glamour as well. and Desmond sat. She was like him. She was an earth angel.

"This changes nothing. We are here to care for these people." Desmond stated.

Genevieve smiled. "Of course. I never thought I'd meet another in the same capacity as I am."

Desmond waited. "How long have you been here?" He asked.

Genevieve sighed, "Longer than I care to admit.

"Well, I wanted to know what else you need me to do before I finish my files?" Genie asked, deciding to stay clear of certain conversations

Desmond nodded and they concluded their day. As the day ended, Genevieve walked to her bus stop. Desmond watched her. She was beautiful; her soul was pure. He wondered for a brief second that if Mauve was right, could he finally have eternity with someone. Shaking his head, he dismissed that thought. Sia was his destiny.

Genevieve boarded her bus, and Desmond drove home.

The next morning, Genie arrived early. Desmond was impressed.

"Good morning Doc Scott, I made coffee. I wasn't sure what you like." Genie greeted him.

Desmond growled, "I don't drink coffee."

Genie smiled, "OK, then more for me." He went into his office and she prepped her cart.

Mauve stopped by and greeted her. "Is grumpy guts in?" She asked. Genie frowned and Mauve liked it. If she felt defensive of him already then that was a good sign.

She entered Desmond's office. "So, you thought about what I said."

Desmond looked at her. "She's an angel. You knew that?" He stated, not really asking.

Mauve smiled. "Yes, she needs to take better care of herself. She gives too much away. Sylvester sent her here to find her own happiness. I think you can help her do that." Mauve explained. "It's your final task, and then I can free you."

Desmond looked at her. "I can leave this plane then. I can join Sia."

Mauve did not answer, because she knew he needed saving just as much as Genevieve. "Just help her."

She walked out and Desmond followed. He watch Genie. She was so compassionate, so caring. This was her second day here, and already he could see that the patient responded to something within her.

The clinic had not yet opened, but the lobby was full. Genie opened the door early and let people in. It was hot out, and she didn't want them waiting in the heat.

Soon everyone checked in and she called his first three patients. His day went smoothly until the last hour. Someone came in and Genie became nervous. Desmond didn't like it so he walked out to see who upset her.

"Patrick, what are you doing here?" he asked.

"I heard some good news doc, and wanted to say congrats. But I see you've started celebrating early. Who's the dime piece?" Patrick asked.

Desmond moved, blocking Genie from his vision. "She's off limits. Leave Patrick."

Patrick smiled. "Are you staking a claim Angel. She's fair game. I let you have Sia. But this girl, ummmm! She's just what I've been looking for." He left.

Genevieve felt strange. Dr. Scott and tall, dark, and handsome came out of his office. The man blew her a kiss and she felt her skin crawl. Dr. Scott ordered him out once more and locked the door when he walked out. He took a deep breath. Then he walked over to her. "Listen, from now on I'm driving you home. Don't catch the bus. Where do you live?" he asked. She told him.

Desmond paused, "It's not safe there. Not for our kind. You'll move into my home. It will be an adjustment, but we'll make it work."

"Wait! What?" Genie started to protest when he cut her off.

"A demon wants you. I can't protect you if you are away from me. I won't let him have you, Genie. Let me protect you now." Desmond insisted.

"A demon, what are you talking about?" Genevieve demanded. "I don't have anything to do with those creatures."

"He's one I know. Years ago we fought and I defeated him. Or at least I thought I did. It was a set up, and I never thought I'd have to... Look, he let me win. I won the freedom to marry the love of my life, Sia. She was one of his. He let me have her on a promise. I agreed and we had over sixty years together on this plane. He left me alone until now. You are not human like her. If he corrupts you, your soul will be doomed for all eternity. I will find a way to stop him, but until then I need you with me." Desmond stopped.

"What did you promise him?" Genevieve asked growing suspicious.

Desmond looked away. "I didn't think it would happen. I found Sia and we had a lifetime ahead of us. I didn't really think beyond that moment." He whispered.

"Desmond, what did you promise the demon?" Genie demanded once more.

"I promised him my soul mate. I honestly thought it was a moot point because I had found her in Sia. However, you have been chosen for me. That means until this threat is taken care of, you are under my protection." Desmond stated emphatically.

"Wait just a minute. You made a deal with a demon, and gave away your soul mate. You somehow think I might be her and you expect me to trust you to protect me from him. You know what Dr. Scott, I've met some shady people, but you take the cake. I never thought I'd do this, but I quit. Find a new nurse." Genie stood to walk out.

Someone started applauding, "Ah, little angel, being with me won't be so bad. I can teach you things he never will." She gasped. He was one handsome man. Well over seven feet tall, milk chocolate brown skin, a low fro and a voice a smooth as chocolate. Her body creamed at the sight of him. Desmond moved. Placing his body between Genie and the unexpected guest, he ordered the man to leave.

"Get out. This office is closed and you're trespassing." Desmond declared.

"OK, I'll go." Patrick looked at Genie and smiled. "See you soon beautiful." Then he left. Genie was stunned, staring at the door.

"No, no, no! There is no way I will allow this." Desmond declared. "He is a demon. He is evil personified. No wife of mine will lust after a bastard like that."

"Wife!? Really Desmond? When did I become your wife? You just told me you gave your wife to a demon. Excuse me for not falling for your "He-Man" routine." But you can back up and leave me alone." Genie exhaled. "I'll be by to clear out my locker tomorrow. Stay away from me." Then she walked away from him.

Patrick stood in the shadows watching the events unfold. He smiled. Trouble in paradise, he chuckled. She was amazing. Desmond was a fool. He was so blinded by his love for Sia that he failed to realize that she was a mere mortal. Humans died. But this beauty would have spent eternity with him. Sadly for Desmond, he would never indulge in this sweet little angels gifts. He then vanished and went on his way.

Desmond walked away from her. "Ug!" he sighed loudly. Women never listen. Why can't she be like Sia? Sia did everything I told her too. He lamented.

Sia is gone, Desmond. Let her rest. You must learn to live now. Maude sent, entering his thoughts.

Stop it, Maude. Stay out of my thoughts. He ordered smiling. She meant well.

Genevieve stood and grabbed her bag. She didn't know what sick games these men were playing, but she was leaving.

"Genevieve, stop, I meant no harm. It's just that my wife died and I've never had to look out for someone since her. You are in danger, and I want to protect you." He explained calmly.

She turned to face him. "Your wife was human. I'm not. I've existed on this plane for over two centuries, and I have not needed a protector. I don't need one now. Good night, Dr. Scott." She then opened the door to leave.

He knew. It was an instant flash. His heart pounded, blood rushed through his body. He needed to protect her. She was his other half and he would find a way to keep her safe. Desmond was floored. Patrick would harm her if he got to her. He had to think of something quick.

*****

"Genevieve, let me give you a ride home." Patrick offered walking up to her as she neared her bus stop.

Genie looked at him. He was handsome. Several women were staring at him. He knew it as he smiled a smug smile.

"No, thank you. I'll take the bus, Mr.." She paused.

"Patrick Wize." He answered smugly.

"Well, thanks and no thanks. Good bye, Mr. Wize." She walked off.

Desmond watched, terrified as Patrick approached her. He stood and headed to the parking lot, when he saw her walk away.

Demons, Oh God, what do I do?" she questioned. Closing her eyes, she prayed for guidance. An old lady sat across from her and when Genie opened her eyes she spoke.

"Girl, we like bad boys. Even when we know they are no good. I saw you with that young man. He is trouble with a capital T. Have a fling with him to get him out of your system. You don't have to marry him." She suggested. Then she laughed and started reading her magazine.

Genie stared at her. She looked out of the window of the bus and saw Patrick sitting in his car. He was handsome, but he was a demon. Demons never did anything good. The bus drove off. Desmond walked out of his office and saw Patrick sitting. He knew. Patrick was going to pursue her. He wanted Genie. Desmond grew angry. He would not have her. It was time to plan.

Patrick sensed the change in Desmond. He smiled. Bring it little angel. You won't win this time either. Unlike Sia, she is worth fighting for. He thought.

Genie exited at her stop. As she walked to her small apartment, Desmond was waiting at the door.

"Don't quit. I'll back off, but Genie, please be careful around him. He does things and he will trick you. If he ever tries anything call me." He added.
"How are you here? Why are you here? If he's so dangerous, how am I supposed to call?" Genie asked. If she was in a dangerous position she might not be able to call.

Desmond paused. She was right. "I won't let him harm you." He whispered once more. Something was different in him. Genie could sense the change.

Genie just looked at him. "What do you want Desmond? You don't really want a wife? You don't want a girlfriend. What? You just want to be the hero?"

Desmond paused. "Can I come inside, please?" he asked. She unlocked her door and they went inside.

"To be honest, I have no idea what I want. I do know I don't want your life ruined because I made a rash decision decades ago. I do know I am responsible for placing you in this predicament. This is my fault." Desmond sighed.

Genevieve waited. "Explain."

Desmond did. The story was fascinating, but in the end he made a choice.

"So, if I am your wife, I essentially belong to that demon." She stated flatly.

Desmond looking forlorn, nodded.

Genevieve stood, she walked to her door. "Leave."

Desmond apologized once more and stood to leave. Genie had one question "Why didn't you wait for me?" she asked.

Desmond froze. "I don't know. I'm sorry. I will fix this somehow."

"How? You promised him your soul mate." She reminded him.

Desmond paused, "I know, but what if I find his real soul mate and bring her to him. He won't have a choice but to let you go."

Genie just looked at him. "That's impossible." She whispered.

"It may seem so. But we have a God that sits high and looks low. He can do all things." Desmond took her hands and kissed them. "I will find a way to fix this. Then he turned to leave. "Lock the door." He ordered then he left.

He knew what he had to do. He had to think like Patrick. If Patrick wanted a wife, then he needed a wife of his own. Desmond had to find him one.

Genevieve watched as he left. Is this what master meant when he told her to find her own happiness? Surely, he did not intend for her to become the concubine of a demon. Master, Answer me please. She sent

Sylvester answered immediately. He knew right away something was wrong.

Genevieve, tell me what has upset you? Sylvester queried.

Master, I met my soul mate. She sent.

Congratulations, Genevieve, you will find true happiness now. Sylvester stated, truly happy for his young charge.

No, Master, he gave me to a demon. Genevieve replied.

Sylvester froze. What? Where are you? he demanded.

Genevieve became nervous. His voice was so cold, so still, she shook. Henson, she sent.

Candace and I will be there shorty.. Sylvester replied. Within minutes, they appeared. Candace rushed to Genevieve, hugging her tightly.

Sylvester gave them a moment, then he had questions.

"Sir, my mate is an Earth Angel. Like me. Over a century ago, he met a woman. They fell in love, but the woman belonged to a lower-leveled demon. Desmond fought for her, and he was almost defeated. He said the demon offered him a way out. He could have the female, but if he ever met another that was his soul mate, she would belong to him. Desmond, thought Sia was his soul mate so the deal would be moot. She died, and he has roamed the Earth alone, not seeking companionship anywhere until I came. The fates revealed who I was to him and the demon has returned to collect his prize."

Candace was appalled. "How could any man make such a foolish and reckless decision."

"Where is this mate of yours?" Sylvester demanded.

Before Genevieve could answer, Mauve appeared.

"Sorry to barge in dear, but I must remind my brother that there are limits to what we can do." Mauve explained.

Sylvester exploded. "She will not be given to a filthy demon. Your angel needs to get his head out of his ass and fix this post haste. Genie is mine to protect and if I have to take over your region to do so I will."

Genie shook. Candace watched, her eyes wide with trepidation also. She had never seen Sylvester so upset.

Mauve did not cower. She sighed and allowed Sylvester's tirade to run its course. "Do you think I will allow this travesty to occur? Come brother, let's speak privately." The two vanished leaving Candace and Genie alone.

Gene sat. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause such an upset." She whispered.

Candace sat beside her. "I'm glad you called him. This demon, he could really harm you."

Genie agreed with her.

The two women talked and caught up. Genie missed being with them, but since meeting Desmond, she didn't want to be anyplace else.

Meanwhile, Desmond was remembering the fight. Then he recalled who was watching. He smiled. One female had a clear stake in Patrick losing. She was furious when Patrick turned his attention to Sia. He smiled. As much as he detested demons, he needed to make a connection.

Zurie, I need your help once more. Desmond sent.

The air around him shimmered.

"What Angel? I told you to never bother me again." Zurie snapped.

Desmond smiled. "Zurie, is Patrick yours?"

She froze. "I hate him. He's an asshole and I wish I could send his sorry behind to the fiery lake." She hissed.

Desmond smiled, "So I take that as a yes."

Zurie glared at him, her eyes glowing red. "What do you want angel? You are beginning to bore me."

"I want to free my soul mate. I've found her and Patrick has laid claim." Before he could finish, Zurie laughed.

"Ah, so now you must pay for making that ridiculous deal. What do you want from me? You want me to declare him my husband. Distract him from your wife so that you and she can ride off into the abyss?" Zurie sneered.

Desmond sighed. That was exactly what he wanted. She leered, "You foolish angel, you made your choice. Deal with it." Then she vanished.

Desmond sat. He truly had nowhere to turn now. He gave an oath and unless Patrick lost interest in Genevieve, she would end up his concubine.

Desmond was despondent. He had to do something. He, in his arrogance, had created this situation and that poor angel shouldn't have to pay for his mistake.

The air shimmered. Everyone moved in slow motion. "You know, what makes you think it would be so bad for her?" Zurie asked.

Desmond froze. "Zurie, she is an innocent. If I had known that Sia was not who I thought, I never would have agreed."

"You knew, but you didn't care. You let your lust cloud your judgment. I was glad though. He was obsessed with Sia. She could demand anything of him, and he gave it to her. Do you want the truth angel? Sia told him to give her to you. You didn't win anything. She went willingly and he agreed." Zurie whispered, and then laughed.

Desmond froze, "So, if he let her go before our fight, then I owe him nothing?"

Zurie laughed, "No stupid, you promised him your soul mate." She sauntered towards him. "You know what; I'll see what he's thinking. Then I'll decide if I'm ready to proclaim him my husband." She added laughing.

Desmond stared at her in disbelief. How did I end up in this mess?

Patrick lounged in his giant private lounge. He smiled thinking of all of the fun he would have with the luscious Genevieve. She was beautiful to him. Her creamy brown skin complimented his darker tone. Her eyes were pure, innocent. He knew she was not experienced. It had been ages since he'd had a pure innocent. His mind recalled the first woman he slept with.

After they were sent to earth, demons experienced human pleasures for the first time. It was then he met Zurie. She was a young Irish lass with red hair and a hair-trigger temper. She fascinated him. He decided to seduce her, but the gorgeous red-headed siren took him instead. She taught him things and when she left him, he had a new respect for demon kind.

For decades, Zurie was the only woman he knew. Then one day he discovered human females. He would give them small wishes in return for their favor. This was a great mutual agreement until Zurie found out. She was pissed and their affair resumed.

For three decades, Zurie was all he knew. Then one night, she abandoned him and he met Sia. She wanted to be wealthy. So, he'd grant her wish in exchange for her companionship. Sia was a generous lover. Patrick used her often and in many ways.

It was when she met Desmond that she changed. However, Patrick cared for her so deeply he'd give anything to make her happy. She wanted Desmond. Patrick had to save face. Sia asked for her freedom and Patrick had to gain something.

Having challenged Desmond the day before, Patrick had to save face. He offered him the deal. He knew Sia was not his other half, but Desmond didn't. She was a siren, a seductress. The poor angel was a willing sap. He was surprised that she stayed with him for over six decades.

"Hello Lover, why are you torturing that poor angel now?" Zurie asked as she appeared in his bathroom.

Patrick smiled and stood. Zurie eyed his gorgeous frame. He was a very impressive specimen. He was sexy as hell, and could have any female he wanted. The thing was he knew it. However, this girl, Genie was unique.

"Zurie, as beautiful as ever, how can be of service?" Patrick stated as he walked around the room.

Zurie smiled. She knew exactly what he was doing. "Well, I see you still like to show off. I must admit, the package seems to have gotten better with age."

Patrick dressed. "Let me guess, Desmond visited you?"

"The girl is his other half. What are you doing?" She asked

Patrick smiled. "I'm collecting a debt. I won't keep her. When I'm done, she can go back to him. After all, he needs to know how it feels to take someone's woman."

Zurie stiffened. "Really, was she really worth all this?" Zurie demanded. Crossing her arms, she was perturbed at his insistence on longing for Sia. "That human is worm food now. Let her go." She walked away turning her back to him.

Patrick frowned. Something in her actions caught his attention. She was silent. "Zurie?" Patrick questioned.

"What, Patrick? What?" She answered angrily.

Patrick froze. Zurie was rarely cross with him. Well, when he decided to keep Sia from Desmond, but besides that he could always depend on her.

"Come here," he growled, pulling her to him and claiming her lips passionately.

Zuire shoved him away. Damn it, Desmond. Why did you come to me? She thought, her need for him almost overriding her need for self-protection.

"Zurie, it has always been good between us." Patrick purred. His body was now alive at the thought of bedding this beautiful witch.

Zurie faced him and smiled. As her passion for him began to grow, her body warmed. "You're right, Patrick. I have taught you well, but I won't be a toy for you." She ambled toward him. "We're both horny and alone. You desire a being that detest you and I, well, that's a story for another day. We both can't have what we want so we can satiate our lust in each other" Her eyes went cold, "No, I won't be a substitute for your sick fantasies. I'm going now, Patrick. When you realize what's true, find me." She vanished.

"Bitch!" He groaned. Then he thought of all of the delicious things he could do to Genie when he got her alone. Stroking his cock, Patrick closed his eyes and pictured her pleasuring him. She'd take him deep inside of her womb. He'd ruin her for any other man. Besides, Desmond could never feed her appetites. Their time would come. From what he'd witnessed earlier, his lovely angel was through with his old friend.

Instead of leaving, Zurie returned. "Shut up and fuck me." She ordered, shoving Patrick and ripping his robe open. Within seconds, she impaled her burning flesh onto his rapacious rod. Patrick was as hard as granite, and needed to be ridden. Zurie did not disappoint as she massaged his huge cock with her burning cavern. Sliding up and down, rolling her hips is a circular motion, Zurie wanted to show Patrick that he wasn't the only demon that could claim another.

"Zurie, yes, my demoness." Patrick moaned as she rode him repeatedly.

He body was hot, wet. She rode his cock as if he was the only one on earth. Patrick wanted to be in control, but with Zurie, she always abdicated control from him.

"Baby," she whispered, "That little angel can't do you like this. She will never satisfy you. Fuck me, Patrick." Zurie demanded.

Changing positions, Patrick slammed his rigid cock into her waiting body. She thought to rule him, but he'd show her that he was the one in charge. Zurie screamed with pleasure as Patrick fucked her roughly. With each thrust, her body was slammed into the floor. She no longer cared, she wanted this demon.

The angel was right. It was time to take what was hers,.

Rolling over, Zurie took charge. "Patrick, I trained you. I taught you. I groomed you for me. I've waited long enough. No simple angel can have you. You are mine and mine alone." She marked him. Patrick surrendered.

"Well, Zurie, I can let her go as long as you know, you belong to me." He replied as he then returned her mark.

Patrick shook as the claws from Zurie marked his chest. Her claim would be visible for all to see. He knew, but he needed to mark her as well. Clawing her side, three gashes ran clear through her, healing as they kissed.

Soon, they lay spent. Patrick held his woman as she was now speechless. The enormity of what had occurred just dawning.

"So, beautiful, does this mean you'll be staying?" Patrick asked, amused. He was actually giddy. Being claimed was an exhilarating feeling. Up until that moment, he's only wished to be conquered by the beautiful Zurie, but now she belonged to him. If this was what Desmond felt for his little angel, then his reaction was understandable.

"Shut up and stop thinking about them. I need you again. Prove to me that I didn't make a mistake." Zurie ordered.

Patrick smiled, and then pleasured his wife.

Meanwhile, Genevieve was leaving. She wasn't about to sleep with a demon, and her mate was callous and cold hearted. As she returned to the clinic to gather her things, the young Miss Phillips, was there.

"Nurse Genie, something's wrong." She cried. Genie rushed her inside and called Desmond.

Getting her comfortable, they chatted as they waited for Desmond arrived.

She was crowning and the baby was a few weeks early. Within an hour, she delivered a beautiful daughter. Genie gently placed the baby in her arms. It was the miracle of life. A part of her was jealous because as an angel, she'd never experience the joy of having a child.

Desmond finished what he was doing and told Genie to escort her to a private room. Being that the clinic was connected to a hospital that would not be a problem.

Desmond walked out, his heart was troubled. He had no idea how to protect Geneviève from Patrick. He had to do something. If he could not, he'd have to send her back with her master, and for some reason he didn't want to do that. True he did not know her and right now she detested the very ground he walked on, but she was his other half. She was sent here to be with him.

Desmond closed his eyes. Watching her swaddle the baby almost broke him. He wanted that. He wanted a family, a wife and children, but that would never be. He and Sia tried and she never conceived. He was told that he was sterile, and he was. Genie was like him, she would never have a child either.

Desmond sat in his office. The day had yet to begin and his appointment book was full. He knew when she returned, she was leaving him. Someone knocked and he knew who it was. "Maude, I don't need another lecture." Desmond stated.

"I know, but what about a solution." Maude asked.

Desmond looked up. For the first time in decades there was hope in his eyes.

"I talked with Sylvester. We asked for mercy. He and I will met with the Demon Lord. He has agreed to ban Patrick from Genie on one of two conditions. " She paused.

"What? Maude, tell me." Desmond demanded.

"You will lose everything you are. You will no longer be an angel. You will live out your time on this mortal plane dying as a human.." Maude explained. Desmond froze.

She continued, "Since Genevieve is innocent, she will be given a new identity. She will meet you as a human and your life can begin again. You won't have the luxury of not remembering. You will always remember what you are and how your actions led you to your end. You must never reveal the truth to her though. Humans are fragile and it would be too much." Maude paused. She loved Desmond. He was the child she never had. She hated to let him go.

"You'll still be around, right?" Desmond asked. For some reason her words held a sense of finality.

"No, I can never speak with you again. I will no longer be a part of your life." She explained.

Desmond froze, "Wait, I can remember, but I can't call. I won't see you again." He stated, not wanting to break.

"Yes, if you take this deal." Maude explained. "The other deal is that she belongs to Patrick. She becomes his soul mate and falls in love with him. They live their lives. You cannot interfere. He is a lesser demon, but he is still a demon."

"No, no, he's a demon. Do you know what they are capable of doing?" Desmond declared.

"You should have thought about that when you accepted his deal. You didn't think. Why would he offer that deal unless the woman you wanted wasn't your soul mate." Sylvester yelled as he appeared.

"For over two centuries, I have protected her. She has never been in danger not once. I send her here and you failed her. You gave her to a demon." Sylvester was livid.

Desmond faced the angry angel. "He can't have her. I'll take the deal. Make us human." Sylvester froze. He wouldn't even be able to say goodbye.

"You have no idea what you've done." Sylvester whispered before vanishing back to Candace. As much as he hated to let Genevieve go, he'd rather have her become human once again that end up with Patrick.

Maude smiled, tears swimming in her eyes, "Done."

Genevieve felt strange. She had to sit down. She collapsed. Suddenly Christine screamed. And nurses rushed in.

When she woke up, she had no idea who she was, where she was from. She had IVs in her arm and a young girl with a baby stood beside her bed.

"It'll be alright now, Ms. Genie. You're going to be alright." Christine whispered.

A doctor came in and asked about her family. She remembered her grandmother lived in New Orleans. After staying on the hospital a few days, she was preparing to leave.

A handsome man approached her. "Aw, Geneviève I hate to see you go, but at least you'll be with your family. You don't remember me, but thanks to you I've never been happier." A beautiful woman came and stood beside him.

Genevieve was confused. "Do I know you?" she asked.

Zurie smiled, "No, but thank you for helping us." The hospital van pulled up to take her to the airport. She had a flight to catch back home.

Genie looked back at the happy couple as she walked away.

Patrick held his lover close. "I almost destroyed that angel just because I wanted to annoy Desmond." He whispered.

Zurie looked sad. "She's not an angel anymore. She's mortal now."

Desmond walked out and saw them holding each other. Walking over to them he demanded, "What do you want? She's gone."

Patrick smiled, "I claimed my soul mate. You let yours go. You will go after her soon, I bet." He and Zurie vanished laughing at Desmond's heartbreak.

Desmond returned to his office as Maude reappeared. "When you are ready. I will send you to her." She explained.

"He found another. Was this necessary?" Desmond asked.

Maude smiled. "You gave your vow. It had to be honored or overruled. Patrick finding his wife didn't change that."

"Give her time to adjust, and then I'll go." Desmond answered. Maude nodded, and the rest of the day was uneventful.
"When you go, I won't see you again. Be happy, Desmond, you deserve happiness above all else." Maude whispered. Her eyes glistened with tears. In an uncharacteristic move, Desmond moved to comfort his mentor. He hugged her tightly, and promised her that he'd be alright.

The deep affection he felt for his mentor was akin to a son's love for his mother. His entire existence on this earthly plane was with Mauve guiding him. She was essentially his mom. It was time for both of them to let go.

Genevieve arrived in New Orleans on a warm, humid afternoon. She didn't talk much, but she remembered. She remembered being a child, running free through the cool plains of the country. She remembered her grandmother always warning her of the dangers of being too trusting. Her memories fade and she recalled waking up in the hospital. The couple that spoke to her as she left gave her an eerie feeling. Then as the bus stopped, she saw her grandmother waiting. It didn't matter. She was home now.

"Genie girl look at you." The older woman greeted her. Genie had no idea that this woman was an angel, sent here to help her adjust. He grandmother passed away years before she became an earth angel. But this angel was assigned to help her recreate her memories.

"Grandma, I have traveled so much." Genie said, "I've been so many places, but I can't remember."

Grandmother nodded, "Child, the memories are there, just wait for them to come." She explained, and then they loaded into the old pickup for the drive to their home. Genie sat by her grandmother and listened to the sounds of the country. She watched the hills and valleys as they drove along. She missed this place. Grandma talked. Genie just listened, then she remembered leaving for college at eighteen. Her grandfather was alive then, and he was so proud. She was the first one in her family to go to college. He told her to do her best and if she needed him call. She left, six months later he passed away and grandma would not let her move back home. She told her to live, and she did. That was ages ago.

When they arrived at the old homestead, it looked the same as it did the last time she remembered. It was a little more modern, but basically the same. They unloaded and went inside. Family and neighbors stopped by to welcome them, and soon things settled. Genie needed to work, but since she had recently recovered from a cardiac syncope, a serious medical episode, she had to wait until her doctor gave her permission to return to work. Her memory loss was highly unusual, but she was regaining memories daily. Fortunately, the hospital faxed her records and she had an appointment the next day.

For four weeks, she was under medical care, then on week four her doctor told her she could work if she wanted to. She went and so far she was doing great. She went out and met people. Genie hated that she had mild amnesia, but she was glad to be home.

*****

Desmond turned in his letter and applied for a post in Baton Rouge. His last day at the clinic was bittersweet. The staff gave him a small farewell party and well wishes. They weren't sincere, but he didn't really mind. Maude stopped by, and he almost broke, but she willed him too compose himself and he did. As he loaded the last of his belongings, he faced his mentor for the last time.

"Be safe and happy, Desmond. I'll miss you." Maude whispered.

Before he could reply, she vanished. He was alone for the first time in centuries. Cranking his car, he put the gear in shift and pulled off. He had to stop. Pulling over in a park, Desmond felt a sharp pain through his chest as he essentially became human. He hurt, and could not move. No one came to help him. He just had to wait out the pain. But he remembered everything. Soon, he could move once more. He wasn't sure how long he was delayed, but he knew he was no longer immortal. He drove until he entered the city of Baton Rouge.

Desmond remembered everything and at first, it was hard to function. He felt so lost and confused all of the time. One day, he sat in his small home holding his head willing the memories to fade. He couldn't move, for the memories were too great.

Dear God, Please give me the strength to carry this burden. He prayed. That night he could not sleep because of a barrage of memories. The next morning, Desmond reported to his new job. The staff was honored to have a doctor of his caliber.

He had one day to acclimate and then he went straight to work. For the first week he did not see her. He knew she was here. She still had her nursing credentials, but she did not come to the hospital

One night, Desmond was working in the ER. A call came in. Being on call he waited for the ambulance and was stunned when it arrived with Genie accompanying the patient, performing lifesaving CPR. The staff took over and he asked her to wait Genevieve sat. She spoke with the officers that came. Soon, a nurse came and she accompanied her friends to the waiting room. She had just recently started working as a home health aide when Mr. Dixon had an episode.

The doctor returned and told the family he would be alright. He smiled and genie and her heart raced. Mr. Dixon was being placed in a room and Genie was headed home.

"Your actions saved his life." Doctor Gorgeous stated.

Genie blushed, "I'm just glad I was there."

"Genevieve, why aren't you working here at the hospital?" He asked.

Genie froze, her head hurt. He seemed to know her. She had retained some of her memories but not all. Apparently she was in some sort of freak accident and it caused her memory loss. Grandma said she would be alright with time. The hospital would pay a settlement and cover her medical cost.. She didn't have to work as a nurse of she did not want to. However, Mr. Dixon needed help and as a neighbor she took the post as his home health care provider through the local agency.

"You know me?" She asked nervously.

Desmond laughed, "Yes, Genevieve, we worked together in Henson before you moved here. As a matter of fact, you are one of the best nurses I've ever worked with".

Genie blushed. She knew she worked in the medical field, but for some reason, she never wanted to work in a confined building like a hospital.

"I can't do it. I don't want to work at a hospital anymore." She whispered.

Desmond nodded. "That's OK. I'm just happy to see that you are well. Look, I'm looking for an apartment, as soon as I'm settled, we can have lunch, alright."

Genevieve smiled, "Of course, Dr. Scott." She gasped. She remembered his name. Desmond smiled as they walked out to the parking lot. An elderly lady drove up and he watched Genie ride a way with her. He felt pretty good. She was still just as wonderful and sweet, and everything he never thought he'd find again. He remembered Sia. The sadness and despair returned. Yet, he went back to work. Maude watched him. It was alright for now, but she knew having the memories would be a heavy burden.

Genie smiled all of the way home. Her grandmother just drove. The next morning, Gene reported back to the agency and was assigned a new set of patients. She went to work, but throughout the day she thought about Dr. Scott.

At the end of the day, Genie went to see Mr. Dixon at the hospital. A part of her hoped to see Dr. Scott. Just as she was leaving Mr. Dixon's room, Desmond Scott appeared.

"Hello, Genie, you owe me a lunch date." Desmond reminded her.

Genie smiled, "Wait, you found an apartment?" She asked. She was currently looking for a place closer to town. She loved her grandmother, but it was obvious that grandma wanted her space back.

"Yes, on Alpine. The place is actually decent." Desmond explained.

"Well, tell me the day and time and I'll meet you." Genie stated as she was preparing to leave.

"Wait," Desmond called. "I'm glad that I ran into you."

Genie smiled, "I'll see you tomorrow, Dr. Scott." She added.

Desmond stopped her, grabbing her hand gently, "Call me Desmond."

Genie nodded and then left.

Over the next few days, they had lunch. Desmond loved talking to her. He realized he almost missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime. He wished he could talk to Maude. But he knew he'd never see his mentor again.

"What's wrong?" Genie asked. He seemed sad all of a sudden.

"I haven't had such a wonderful time since before I lost my wife, Sia." He couldn't tell her the truth. "We were married for ten years and I lost her to cancer." Desmond added.

"I'm so sorry. She must have been wonderful." Genie whispered as she began to pull back. She would not compete with a memory.

"The thing is last night, she said goodbye. In my dreams, she told me to live now. She said I've grieved long enough." Desmond explained grasping her hand willing her not to leave. This dream occurred months ago, but that was in another life. It was part of a life he could not share.

"Desmond, I... I really like you, but I can't be her." Genevieve explained.

Desmond smiled, "Of course you're not Sia. Sia was Sia, and you are my magic Genie." He smiled and Genevieve's heart raced.

They finished lunch, but Desmond asked her to join him for dinner. Genie went home and found her grandmother napping.

Not wanting to wake her, she quietly made her a quick dinner. Soon, she woke but seemed more tired than usual. Genie was concerned so she called Desmond and cancelled. Desmond wanted to see her; so that evening, he drove out to her home.

As the two ladies set supper, someone knocked. Genie was pleasantly surprised to see Desmond. She invited him in and the three ate together. This was an opportunity for Genie's temporary guardian to observe the couple. The evening went well, as Desmond laughed at stories that Genie's grandmother shared. "Genie, love, can you bring me my pills. I need to take them." Her grandmother asked.

"Listen Desmond, you know I'm not really her grandmother. I must leave soon. Tonight you passed the one test. I won't go until, I'm sure you both are ready." Then she smiled, "Bless you, may you and Genie have a beautiful life together." Then she smiled as Genie returned.

For the next several months, Genie and Desmond were inseparable. Genie was worried because she wondered why he was interested in someone like her when he could date any woman he wanted. Also, at times he'd shut down. He'd go inside himself but wouldn't share whatever was bothering him. Desmond was attentive kind. Each night he drove her home and kissed her passionately, but that was all. She would even visit his apartment on occasion and he was the perfect gentlemen.

One night, she needed to know. So borrowing her grandmother's car, she drove to his home. She approached the door and heard him sobbing. Instantly concerned she began banging on the door. Desmond let her in. The memories were crushing him, but he could not tell her what they used to be.

He couldn't stop crying. Genie did the only thing she could. She held him. Soon, she cried too. "What is it? What's wrong?" Genie asked nervously. Was he still grieving his wife? Should she leave and give him space?

She stepped back and Desmond grabbed her hand. "Please don't go. I need you."

"OK. But what's wrong? Talk to me." Genie asked truly concerned.

Desmond had to tell her what he could, "I made mistakes and they cost. But despite that, I've tried to make things right." He closed his eyes. He could not stop hurting. He recalled Maude, Patrick, the last few centuries. She sat beside him, concern etching her brow. "Angels and demons exist, Genie. Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there." He whispered. He tried to stop crying, and then he smiled.

"What are you talking about?" Genie asked growing concerned.

Desmond smiled, "You are my angel, Genie. You are the missing piece of my soul." He stated tears drying on his cheeks..

Genie's heart pounded, "What are you saying, Desmond?" She asked.

"I'm wrong for asking this, but will you stay here with me tonight. I need you. I need more than slight touches, and chaste kisses. I need you." he whispered.

Genie froze. "You want me to sleep with you?" she asked. Her body hummed. She could not deny him. She wanted this man so badly, that if he tried to change his mind, she'd go insane.

"No! yes!" Desmond sighed and pulled her close. "Just stay tonight."

Genie nodded, and he kissed her. His lips were so soft, and his touch was so gentle. He worshiped her with his touch and his words. Genie felt like a true goddess.

Carrying her into his bed, Desmond took his time, and tasted every inch of her skin. She was not sure, but he calmed her. He tasted her breast, kissed her flat stomach, pressed his nose into the dark hair at the apex of her thighs and inhaled her feminine musk.

"Baby, are you on the pill?" he asked. "I'm safe, and I know you are too. But if it's risky, I can use protection."

Genie could not speak. Her voice was gone. She wanted him to stop talking and use his mouth on her once more.

Realizing he was waiting on a response, she squeaked out, "Condom."

Desmond paused and retrieved one from a bedside drawer.

"I bought them last month. I knew then that I would have to have you. Let me make sure you're ready. He then tasted her sweetness. No man had ever placed his mouth on her before and Genie quickly had him to stop.

"That's nasty. What are you doing?" She asked.

Desmond smiled, "It's not. It's beautiful. You're my woman, right?" he asked.

Genie nodded. Desmond smiled, "Then I get to taste you. Relax, you'll enjoy it." He was so right. Genie responded to him with wild abandon.

Her body dripped and Desmond soon entered her sweetness. She froze as he entered her canal for the first time. She was tight, but he didn't hurt her. Moving slowly in and out of her body, she adjusted to his size. Soon he began to pump more vigorously. And then he stiffened and shouted. His cock throbbed deep inside of her and Genevieve loved it.

Desmond just held her close. "I love you Genie. You're my life." Desmond whispered.

Genie lay beside him and all of a sudden she wanted him to fill her again. Unable to contain her desire, Genie rubbed her pussy on his thigh. Desmond was instantly ready.

"Desmond, I need you again." She whispered. Desmond smiled grabbed a condom and they made love several more times into the night.

The next morning, Genie drove home finding her grandmother was up. "I see you've been busy. It's about time. Go dress for work, I made breakfast."

Genie came out of her room and sat beside her grandmother. "Grandma, last night, Desmond and I..." she blushed.

"Girl you are old enough and you have needs. He's a good man, just be careful, alright. Now, don't you have patients," she teased. Genie nodded, and then once again she took the truck.

Maude appeared. "Stella, its time. The old woman transformed into a beautiful young girl.

"How are we going to do this?" She asked.

Maude looked and answered. "Her grandmother will pass away in her sleep. She'll find your body on the sofa one morning. Desmond will help her make arrangements. The house is hers; everything that is here is in her name. A lawyer will explain everything to her.

Stella nodded, then she thought of her friend, Desmond. "What about Desmond? It's unfair. The memories cause so much pain." She added.

Maude looked sad. "He's human and this is cruel. After they bury her grandmother, Desmond will be freed."

"Good, their perfect together." The angel added, and then she and Maude decided to give Genie a few more months then she'd leave.

Genie drove out and checked on her grandmother every night. At first, she would stay with her grandmother, but when she had a date, she'd often arrive home late. Grandmother said if she was coming in after midnight, stay at his place. So more and more nights, were spent with Desmond. Soon, most of her clothes were at his apartment.

She returned the pickup to her grandmother, but each night she and Desmond drove out to check on the much older woman. One night, they arrived and the air was eerie. Genie knew something was wrong so she rushed inside. She found her grandmother, sleeping on the sofa. She shook her, only to realize she was gone. She screamed as Desmond rushed inside. She was gone, and from the stiffness of the body, she'd been gone for a while.

With Desmond's support, Genie made arrangements and had a small ceremony honoring her grandmother. Desmond was her rock. He knew, and he held her as she grieved. They grew even closer.

After the funeral, Genevieve learned that the old homestead was hers. Grandmother had insurance that paid off what was left of the mortgage. Her first few nights at home, Desmond stayed over. He loved the small house. It needed some repairs, but he believed he could fix it. His first Saturday off, he worked in the back porch. By week four, he was ready to rebuild the roof over the patio.

One day, as he was working, he needed nails. He asked Genie to run to the hardware store. She left, and hurried back. As she drove in the yard, she saw Desmond lying in the yard he had fallen. Genie rushed to his side, and called an ambulance. He regained consciousness, and knew who she was immediately.

Soon he recovered, and Genie insisted that he stay with her.

One day at work Desmond had a visitor. A man he'd never seen before stopped by to see him.

"Hey Desmond, we were driving through and wanted to see how you are doing?" He stated.

Desmond paused. He had no idea who he was when a beautiful woman joined him. He kissed her and Desmond smiled. It was obvious that these two were deep in love. They chatted. Soon the two left, but not before inviting Desmond to visit.

Patrick and Zurie left completely stunned. Desmond was truly human now. He had no memory of his past life as an angel. They saw Genie walking up and stopped to speak. She remembered meeting them before, and they bid her farewell.

She rushed to Desmond's office. He smiled. He wasn't sure about much, but he was certain about one thing. This woman would one day be his wife.

They left for lunch only to find the visiting couple was waiting on a cab. The couple joined them and the visit was actually pleasant.

Patrick had to see if Desmond would hear him and so he sent thoughts to the other man, but then Genie would touch him and Patrick knew any influence he had was over.

Lunch ended, and Genie went on to her next patient. Desmond took thirty extra minutes, he had an errand. Tonight, they became a family.

Genie met him at the office and he asked her to join him at a local eatery and then they'd drive home. Genie had a blast, as they arrived back at the home stead; Genie went to dress for bed.

Desmond joined her, but beside the bed he had a surprise.

Leaning over, he kissed his woman. "Babe, are you too tired?" he asked.

"No, I need you." She whispered.

Desmond reached into the drawer, but this time he retrieved a velvet black box. He opened it. Genevieve, I want you to become my wife. Would you do me the honor of making an honest man of me?" Desmond whispered.

"Yes, yes," She answered, wrapping her arms around his neck. He kissed her as he slipped his ring on her finger.

A month later, Desmond and Genevieve married in a small ceremony. Unbeknownst to them, four angels attended the wedding. Sylvester held his Candace close. His sister, Maude smiled like a proud momma. Even Patrick and Zurie stood outside of the church.

As the bride and groom exited, the celestial beings looked at each other and flew away. They would no longer interfere in their lives.

Epilogue

Five years later, Desmond was doing basic repairs but this time he had help. A young woman died and Desmond brought her small son home and he and Genie were instant parents. The boy was partially blind from birth and had suffered many medical problems early in life, but he was theirs. His name was Silva, but they called him Sly.
Genie was sitting on the porch watching them work. She smiled. Her husband, the handyman doctor wanted to do everything himself.

Last week, Sly asked for a tree house and his dad was determined to build it. She chuckled and wondered how he would react when she told him the news about a new family member tonight.

The two finished. She laughed as they joined her on the porch. Sly ran out to his new clubhouse and Desmond realized that Genie was really quiet.

"What's wrong? He asked.

"Nothing, I was just thanking God for giving me you." She whispered. Desmond leaned down and kissed his wife. Then they sat and watched their son play.

"Babe, there's a little girl that needs a home, she lives with her great grandmother who is being sent to a retirement community. I asked if we can take her because we have the space. The social worker agreed." She explained.

"Really, bring her home tomorrow then. We can handle two kids." Desmond whispered and Genie sighed.

She smiled, "Can we handle three?"

"Wait! Babe, are you saying?" Desmond questioned.

"Yes, in seven months, Dr. Scott, our family is expanding." Genie added.

A smile so big and so bright spread across his face. His beautiful wife, his beautiful Genie, was giving him the most precious gift. He thanked God that they found out the doctors were wrong years ago. He could have children. Desmond stopped and kissed his wife. "Thank you. I promise. I'll be the best Dad of all dads." Then, he cheered. Sly looked up and ran to him. He lifted the little scamp in jubilation.

"You will get a new sister soon, and a baby brother or sister in a few months, Sly." Desmond shared, excited, happy, and almost overwhelmed.

"Sit, come here my boy," Genie stated reaching for Sly that hugged her immediately.

"Make sure you bring our daughter home." Desmond added.

Genie laughed and it sounded like music. The heavens smiled that day, and the Scott family realized they were blessed beyond measure. The next morning, Jessica joined their small family. She was a few months younger than Sly, but she fell for her big brother instantly. Both kids were very protective of each other. Desmond spoiled the both kids rotten.

Desmond and Genevieve spent the next fifty years in total bliss. They raised eight children. Genie gave birth to four and four were adopted. When they passed away, they left behind eight children, twenty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren, and many others. The deepness of their love and their commitment to each other was the stuff of legends. Their love story became the cornerstone for their family for many years to come. Yet, in the heavens, the angels celebrated and welcomed two of their own back home.
