Miss-Cast

James always wanted to be an actor in the most regular way possible. Watch a few stars on the big screen, think that it would be awesome living the glamorous Hollywood life, smouldering scenes with hot actresses, daydream about being rich and famous with people walking up to him asking for autographs and saying how much they loved his last movie. It was a nice thought, but James just didn't have the dedication, or even real interest in acting itself, to make any serious moves on it, beyond school plays and one or two acting courses after he graduated.

However, one day as he was working as a dishwasher, he heard from a coworker that their uncle was working on a movie set nearby. James bugged him all day about whether he could get a role.

"If you really want an acting role, you should at least cut your hair, you look like a bum."

"Hey, it makes me look like Keanu Reeves."

"It doesn't man, it really doesn't."

"And I know I'm a bit short, but hey, so is Tom Cruise"

"Both those people could grow a beard."

"Hey, not my fault I've a smooth chin. It's genetics."

The coworker just rolled his eyes. However, he still did talk to his uncle and came back the next day.

"Look, all the casting has been done weeks ago, and all the important roles have understudies. But they're always looking for extras, he says there's an agency that handles it if you wanna contact them..."

James was crestfallen, but eventually did phone the number his coworker gave him. The call was rather confusing, the agency seemed understaffed and the person he talked to didn't fully get which movie project he was asking about. Eventually, James gathered if he went to this address at this time there would be an extra part waiting for him, but shooting delays meant he could be waiting, and things were always changing, but at the same time he was meant to get there extra early for makeup and other perpetration. James had enough sense to ask if he needed to be wearing anything specific, but the guy didn't give a clear response.

It was better than nothing, maybe he could find some way to make this break out into something bigger.

On the appointed date, he arrived 20 minutes late and beheld the (movie) scene in front of him.
