Movie World

Tami and Brad couldn't believe their luck. Just before the new 24-screen multi-plex entertainment center outside Apple Ridge opened, the owner, Mr. Mullins called them and offered them special jobs. Tami and Brad, like half the other kids at Apple Ridge High, had applied for jobs months earlier when construction had begun, but this was too good to be true. Mr. Mullins explained that he thought they would be perfect as special roving hospitality directors. No cleaning up messes, no selling tickets and popcorn, no washing windows and counters. Their jobs would be to roam through the entertainment center, help the guests as needed, and present a bright happy face. They would serve as Mr. Mullins personal ambassadors to the public.

Brad, the 18-year-old Senior and captain of the football team, was a well-built 6'2", brown haired young man. The blonde, blue-eyed, Tami, who was occasionally Brad's date, had just turned 18. She was President of the Senior Class and active in a host of school and community programs. She was also a 4-year starter on the school swim team.

Movie World was unlike anything the region had ever seen. The complex contained 24 movie screens, including specialty theatres for kids, for "art" movies, and even a remote theatre for "adult" movies. There were 2 restaurants and an ice-cream shop in addition to the expected popcorn and snack stands. The complex included a movie history museum, a video arcade, and a virtual reality simulation room. On the upper level Mr. Mullins oversaw his empire from an office that contained over a hundred video monitors.

After several days of training with the 30 other employees, Brad and Tami were ready to begin their new jobs. Opening night came, the entire town was tense with excitement, and finally, the doors opened.
