The twin worlds of Attis and Reverie have long been connected by magical gates, archways that allow one to move from either world to the other instantly. In ancient times the gates served as a convenient means of traveling long distances quickly, accessible to all who were willing to brave the potential monster or bandit attack. In more recent times free gates have become few and far in between, most gates either having become part of a dangerous monsters hunting grounds or closely guarded by the rich and powerful in order to levy large tolls or provide for their own private access.

The largest of all gates is known as the Eye, an archway wide enough for hundreds of individuals to pass through shoulder to shoulder. The Eye is perhaps the single most valuable and dangerous location on both worlds, heavily patrolled by soldiers and knights from the nearby kingdom of Hyrgin on the Attis side, and fully engulfed by lands belonging to the demon ruled Aelvyr Empire on the Reverie side. Even wilding caravans are not foolhardy enough to go anywhere near that most ancient gate without extensive and expensive protection. Only the brave, foolish, or desperate would insist on trying their luck in the lands surrounding The Eye, for surely only death or slavery would await those who are unprepared.

And yet some like you end up there against all good sense either by fate or choice. The call of power, wealth, and fame is often just too much to resist for many, and others were never given the chance to say no. The only question that really matters now is will you survive?
