You wake up on your 21st birthday, elated. Today, you became the Hunter Patriarch! Your father was preparing the rituals to pass down the Patriarchy, and by lunch, you’ll be in control of your entire family! Including your father’s trophy wife, who’s one of the few non-family members. Your father acquired her by trading his own sister, who became the Matriarch of the Lewis Patriarchy. Your mother is the soon to be ex-Matriarch of your Patriarchy, the role of Matriarch falling to the Patriarch’s wife. It had almost no responsibilities or benefits, it was merely a title to throw around.

Your mother enters the door, your last time in this bedroom. You, of course, lived in the Hunter Manor, ancestral home of your Patriarchy, but after today, who lived in the Manor was under your control, so was every relative of yours’ fate, with the exception of your father’s sold sister.

“Hey, baby! I just wanted to know whether or not I’m staying, so I know whether or not to start packing?” your mom asks.

“You’re staying, definitely. And so is Dawn.” you say, referencing your younger sister, who was freshly 20, making her technically eligible to be a Matriarch. Your mother smiles.

“I’m happy to hear that, baby!” she smiles. It was true though, once you were Patriarch, no one could touch her without your express permission, so she was really looking to see if she’d be sexually satisfied.

A call from the other room from your father brings you into the ritual room, where Dawn’s already waiting, her beautiful blond hair pulled into a ceremonial bun. Your mother’s hung loose and wavy as a symbol of her Matriarchy. Your father, holding a worn, red book, instructs you to step inside a ceremonial circle, and repeat the words after him, some prayer to a god of incest and legacy apparently. Your father pulls out a golden signet ring signifying his Patriarchy. He hands you the ring, and the font that read ‘Anthony Hunter’ changed to your name.

It was done. You were Patriarch!
