It was an unimaginable outcome for many in the ranks of Team Rocket. Giovanni, the very leader of the organization, had been defeated at his best. By a kid no less!

The man behind Team Rocket had also been in charge of running one of the Pokemon Gyms in Kanto. Not like the League knew of Giovanni's position in Team Rocket, otherwise they'd never have allowed him the position at all. But while losses in the line of his "job" were unavoidable (the Pokemon League's standards meant that some margin of success had to be allowed, after all), the Boss had NEVER lost a battle when going all out.

But then a fresh Trainer from Pallet Town, one who regularly disrupted Team Rocket's operations, eventually sought out the Gym Leader in Viridian City for the Earth Badge. By then, the kid in question had no idea that the leader of Team Rocket and the Gym Leader they sought were one and the same.

After meeting in the Viridian City Gym, Giovanni brought out his strongest lineup against the interloper. But the great Giovanni had eventually lost, and ordered Team Rocket's disbandment. The organization crumbled quickly in the aftermath.

Word has it that many of the higher ranking members were working to resurrect Team Rocket, as well as attempting to contact their former leader. Whether Giovanni would return or not remained to be seen, but it seemed very unlikely. No one had any information on his whereabouts, not even so much as a rumor.

And with that, the Team Rocket our protagonist believed in was no more. All that remained was an empty shell, clinging to a past glory that was ultimately hollow without the guidance of the man that aspired to greatness. Now perhaps this Grunt in question had their own dreams of greatness, or perhaps they were satisfied with their role in a greater man's ambition. In either case, the utter defeat of Team Rocket left a void in the Johto and Kanto regions. The "hollow" Team Rocket will never again be able to resume it's place at the top of the criminal underworld, especially so if the man that built it from the bottom up were no longer around to control it.

But now remained an important question, which would determine the future of the former Grunt of Team Rocket.
