Pregnancy on Polar Express

From childhood, Jane Melody has heard about Tale of the North Pole. In fact, maybe there's nobody alive hasn't heard of it when they're still a child:

"Once upon a time, there were men and women on Earth. The men, with their natural strength, ruled over the women. Unfortunately, the men were born with an insatiable desire: conquering. In many centuries they created weapons and fought each other. Countless lives have lost in the war. God saw all of this and disappointed. God secretly chose a man and gave him powers, along with the mission to end all wars. However, after completing his duty, that man decided to crown himself as the King of the World and gathered forces to challenge God. In the wrath, God placed a curse on humans: 'There is no man can live on the land or the sea again.' It took effect immediately: all men fell dead, and all pregnant women only gave birth to daughters.

But without men, the lineage couldn't be continued. Seeing humanity are on the brink of extinction, a girl named Mary, the purest of all, decided to do something. Alone, she sailed a small ship called Nativity to the North, went till the end of the world. After many days and nights, she found that a star was right above her head and knew that her journey has reached its destination, she began to pray. Her voice reached God. Being moved by her actions, God agreed to save the human. By the divine power, Mary, who was still a virgin, has conceived a child in her womb. Ten months later, on December 24th, she gave birth to a son. When her water broke, the sea began to freeze, forming a continent of ice. The boy was named Bethlehem. Although he was still affected by the curse, one day per year he could set foot on land.

In his 18th birthday, riding the Nativity, which now was a flying ship; Bethlehem traveled around the world and blessed women with his seed. From that year, the 24th of December became an annual festival called Bethlehemas or B-mas for short."

And every time, after hearing the story, Jane Melody always asked her mother:

"How does Bethlehem choose whom he would breed with?"

Her mother gently patted her head and answered:

"In the B-mas, we will plant a tree in our yard and hang a stocking on it. A woman who did many good deeds last year, in the next morning, will find a piece of gold inside it and know she's going to be with child. The gold will be exchanged for money to raise the child. On the other hand, a woman who committed many sins last year, in the next morning, will find a piece of coal instead."

Then her mother said: "If you become a good girl when you grow up, Bethlehem will choose you to be his mate."
