Realm of Monsters

The humans call this land Mageshore, as it was first discovered and visited by mages using magic to move themselves across the Bright Sea. Elves had visited it in ages past, of course, and some of them followed the human colonists, setting up their enclaves alongside human cities. Dwarves, were already extant, though the lack of friendly humanoids on the surface left them to operate mostly in the high southern mountain ranges. The smaller races, halflings and gnomes, are not particularly well known on the Mageshores, but a few of them do journey with the humans.

What the Mageshores are inhabited by, however, are monsters. Orcs dwell in the hilly regions of the central-northern part of the continent, and centaurs roam the coastal plains. Dragons roost in the southern mountains, and plenty of other strange creatures call various corners of the place their home. The human colonists, aided by magic and alchemy and their well-organized legions, initially drove back the orc and centaur tribes, and slew or drove off the dragons courageous enough to attack them. Two hundred long years of warfare and colonization allowed the humans and their associated races to set up their new settlements and become quite accustomed to their new homes.

That’s going to change, soon. The monsters are restless; the gods call for vengeance. The Mother of Monsters, Lamashtu, is willing to give her children her divine gifts if they carry out her will. The auguries are good; favor will be shown to those who sow their seed wildly in the civilized races’ wombs. The time has come to take back what belongs to your people by force, and make the humans pay in slaves for their temerity.
