Sette Sogni

You stand before a floating book on a glowing pedestal. Rays of divine light falls from above, landing down over you and the book, the light block out everything from your sight save for what it touches.

The book looks relatively old, with its cover worn and the paper within having clearly aged. The title, engraved in gold, was in big letters. "Xirix." You mutter to yourself. You turn the cover open, looking through the first few pages until you reach the first one with enough letters to be worth reading.

"Volume 1: Birth of the Gods

This book contains knowledge about the universe and magic that runs through it. However, this first volume holds history. The history of how the strongest beings of existence came to be. Interesting, is it not? Even I, as I am writing this, I cannot contain my excitement. They have gone through so much, their adventures are so amazing I cannot hope to write about all of them. But I will try. This volume will contain the stories of:

Tai Yang and Mona, the Twin God and Goddess of the Sun and Moon, respectively. The story of how the two of them rose as twin mages in the mercenary business, conquering both the Light and Dark forms of magic in the process, is an entertaining one, full of curiosity and fun, but not devoid of sorrow either. Follow them as they go from one place to the next, the bond between them the only thing stronger than their magic.

Esmeralda Cui, the Goddess of Nature. A child raised by the creatures of the forest, Ema's story is one of devotion. Her growth as a child of nature and her determination to protect the green from all who would harm it. As she grows, her stone cold heart that would not know mercy to any invade her sacred grove would later learn of the love and patience that parents have. But you still won't get away from hurting her forest.

Gale Ballam, the God of the Skies. When a child in an orphanage saw a mage performing magic as a show for children, the future "Zephyr" began to dream of becoming a mage himself. Being trained by the traveling mage he saw, he fought hard for his position as one of the strongest mages ever. His story, without question, is one of dedication as he works towards his goal of becoming the strongest wizard of all.

Kate 'Firestorm', the Goddess of Fire. A lowly thief running to and fro in the village to survive, little Kate had no idea that the book she had stolen was a spellbook of a great wizard. A tale of a genius in the world of magic, hers spins around her life in the slums and her actions that spread a fire lasting a eternity, changing the lives of her fellow street people forever.

Aiden Maelstrom, the God of the Sea. Another orphan, like all of the ones mentioned before him, Aiden was afflicted with a strange magical disease that always resulted in death. With his eyes cursed, he was thought to be a lost cause by everyone around him and he was cast out. When a flight of dragons saved him, he vowed to return the favor and set out to become a mage worthy of protecting them like they protected him.

Rose Terra, the Goddess of the Earth. Born to the head family of the Terra Clan of battlemages, Rose had been trained by the greatest wizard of the time. After excelling in nearly everything she set out to do, she was thought to be the one to succeed her master, but she had a problem. Unlike her master, Rose was not good with people and was not good at handling her power. Strong as she was, she had a superiority complex that made her a problem to deal with. Her story is one of change as she learns what is most important to her and the choices she makes to achieve it.

Well then, reader, are you excited? The history of the world is at your fingertips, stop reading the foreword and get on with the book!"

The foreword ends and you take a deep breath. Gingerly, you flip the next page over as the world around you disappears.

(Compared to my other ongoing work, Seedship, Sette Sogni is clearly a fantasy story. Mages and knights, fighting ogres and dragons. There will be seven main characters and their respective stories, wherever that leads to. The first will be Aiden, as I find his side of the story to be my personal favorite. The rest will be decided later. If you decide to contribute and add a chapter of your own, that's fine. Alternatively, if you instead want to make a different character, side stories are cool too.)
