Sub Librarian

First story, let me know what you think and if you notice any errors.

Shea was new to Toron, a small town of a few thousand. It was relatively quaint and quiet, something Shea believed she needed after running a library in a bustling city of two million. It was a nice change with many large green lawns and towering hardwood trees draping their leaves over avenues. Shea's new home was a small cottage sized house not too far from her new place of employ, the Toron Community Library.

Despite its name the library was privately owned by a middle-aged man by the name of Ralph Spears. Their online interview had been successful for both parties. Both shared a love for learning, reading, and community involvement. She had detailed her administrative skills and her long list of managed projects and Ralph described a relaxed yet ambitious work environment. A mix that might allow Shea to finally de-stress while not getting too bored.

Her need to be prepared drove Shea to arrive a week before her first day and she had taken the time familiarizing herself with the new town. An easier task then she had anticipated. Toron was numbingly simple with a single long main street with 80% of all the businesses lining it. Residential and community buildings formed around them. The library was directly behind a bakery and book store that were on the main street. An odd choice to have a bookstore and library so close together, but who knew how these small towns were developed.

Needless to say, it was odd for Shea to be able to purchase everything she needed within a quarter mile of her home, yet have to stop at several different stores. The nice perk of this was that Shea could walk everywhere. Gas would no longer be an issue for her, unless she decided to travel.

Shea looked over at the clock. 6:49.

Time to head to the library for her first day of work. Shea felt nervous excitement welling up inside of her.
