Tales from the Forgotten Realms

The Forgotten Realms are diverse and rife with opportunity. Millions of people live on the large continent of Faerûn, many of whom are non-human. Elves peacefully coexist with ancient forests, Dwarves build great kingdoms underneath mountains, and other less common races such as the Dragonborn try to survive on a planet that isn't home. Great evil lurks in the shadows - barbaric hordes of monsters roam the wilderness, chromatic dragons horde incredible wealth, and the Blood War rages on in the Nine Hells. In the heavens, a vast pantheon of deities rules over the Prime Material. Their domains range from trickery, knowledge, and to life itself.

The gods, and by extension the forces of good, are not omnipotent, however. Ambitious villains will sometimes slip through the cracks. A ravenous lich one year, an invasion by a particularly belligerent demon lord one century, a goblin raid last week.

Adventurers are therefore a natural development. Individuals who are motivated by greed, ambition, pride, altruism - even lust, find themselves with the power to stop what slips through the cracks. Fighters - talented warriors who find the dangers of war boring. Druids - wizened sages who have spent years learning how to attune to the ebb and flow of nature. Rogues - individuals with a knack for all things unscrupulous, and an uncanny luck that kicks in when they need it most. Sorcerers - those who have been blessed with an innate gift for magic, either by heritage or accident.

You are one such adventurer.
