The Artemis Club

Founded in Manhattan in 1967, the Artemis Club was and still is an unusual thing. Eight up-and-coming women in the business world came to realize shared niche interests they had, and made a group out of it. It started as the ladies bringing pretty things along to clubs or one another's houses, but over time word got out. More and more, they had other people wanting membership, and willing to pay no small expense to do so.

In 1972, the de facto head of the club Miriam Chase decided to buy up a small property in the Meatpacking District, turning the Artemis Club into a place as much as a name. Membership was expanded, and any woman willing to pay $5000 a year in dues would be considered for acceptance. The rather unusual nature of the Club's interests paired with its rather prohibitive requirements kept it an exclusive affair, but by 1979 it had expanded to fifty members.

Today, Club Ascension is a well-regarded establishment in New York's fetish scene, known for being safe, cultured, and female-friendly. It stays closed on Wednesdays, however, to suit the needs of the Artemis Club. Numbering at 138 women who include major stockbrokers, pharmaceutical executives, and a Fortune 500 CFO. It's ostensibly open to women of all ages, but the cost and voting process mean that few of its members are younger than thirty. The Club is more or less legal, but its members prefer a degree of privacy. Its tastes have expanded with its members, but there's a common theme to most of what it focuses on. That focus, you ask? Boys at the beginning of adulthood, mostly. Feminine boys, gentle boys, and most importantly, boys who need a strong, guiding hand in their lives.

One such boy (or possibly a girl) finds themselves at their first exhibition for the Artemis Club. Not an exhibition as a member, mind you. An exhibition as entertainment.
