The Change

The night sky was crisp and clear and the moon hung high amongst the stars, shining down in a silvery glow. Constellations dotted the sky from horizon to horizon, the night was still for a moment, but, then, one of those single dots grew; slowly at first, but it gained momentum. Late-night passersbys stopped and watched, enamored with its peculiar growth. In a moment, the light grew to engulf the moon, and then the world was lit up. Those who slept in their beds and on the cold ground oblivious to the light as those who were watching were blinded. Then there was nothing - nothing but warm, comfortable darkness. Humanity was gone. Pets were free to roam around in their now-empty homes. Inhabited cars and planes vanished in a flash.

A day passed, and humanity returned. Planes popped back into existence, veering as their pilots adjusted to the sudden change from bright to dark. Beds were filled with those who were left unaware. Those who were blinded recoiled, blinked, and looked around. It was cloudy. The air was muggier, but people didn't notice this at first. They found themselves touching and adjusting themselves, as they were no longer who they were before. Every man found that his breasts were of a significant size larger than they were before, and every woman found her pants to have a bulge in them. Everyone had turned to the opposite sex, and the world recoiled in horror and curiosity.
