Stolen hospital equipment was modified to fully change the genetic code of any living creature over a period of weeks, making small changes daily. A ward was set up in a bunker miles away from the civilised areas, away from prying eyes. For a price, people are made to "disappear" from the world. In reality, they are took to be transformed, trained, and sold as slaves.
