The ER Room

Being born and raised in a big city I became accustomed to the whirlwind activity. I never really thought about life outside of the city or small towns that much, let alone visited one. I only heard of stories from friends and knew of the reputation that came along with small towns from movies and the like, but that was all about to change.

I had turned 18 a few weeks ago and with that I finally got my dream car. My Mom promised me the car the day I graduated high school at the age of 16. It wasn't that I was an overachiever or anything, it was just the things were easier for me than the rest of my peers to the point where I was placed in advancement placement. By 16, I was already a senior and graduated with that class.

So, long story short my mother promised me my dream car once I turned 18. My mother always went the extra mile since she was a single parent and I appreciated everything she’s done. I never thought about my birth father or wanted to meet him because my mother was all I needed if I was being honest.

Growing up I didn't really care for much friends because I wasn't into what a lot of my peers were indulging in, mostly because I was always placed with an older group of kids in school for the majority of my school life and even if I was the older kids didn’t jump at the chance to let me join them. Over my younger teen years I made two friends who became friends of mine after being neighbor's for years.

Anyway, I've been planning this road trip for since my mom promised me the car. A road trip too Las Vegas and not for what you might expect, I wanted to take a road trip to Vegas to catch Sci-Fi Con where stars from Star Trek etc... would attend. I always wanted to go, but never had the time and getting to meet some of the hot busty women of Star Trek didn't hurt.

This year I was finally getting to go, but it would be a one man trip being that my friend's had school and my mother couldn't take off of work since her company's CEO is in the office for the week. I guess this is where having friends still in high school was a downside, but I was determined not to let a little bump in the road stop me from the Sci-Fi Con this year.

Though my mother was hesitant at first, after much thought out pitches and being that my mom and I took a road trip before to California on a similar route, my mom finally gave me the okay to go by myself with the rules being I had to call her at every pit stop along the way, call when I arrived at my uncle’s house and call the rest of the week. The extra sell that finally made my mom give final approval of me going to Vegas alone was that I would stay at an uncle’s house who lived in Nevada to supervise. Since, the Sci-Fi Con began on the following Monday and with everything prepared I started out on my road trip that Friday morning.

After a few hours, it wasn't long before I was out on the open road and I was making good time. The road trip started out as I hoped it would, well until I decided to take a shortcut. Traffic was building up and as I was driving up I noticed that there was a side road leading off the main road. Going off of memory, from my last road trip with my mom this side road was a shortcut.

In a split second decision I decided to take the side road rather than wait in traffic. After a few minutes, I saw an old pick-up truck speeding up in my rearview mirror, "What’s up with this guy?," I said to myself.

The zooming old pick-up truck was gaining up on me and as I tried to swerve out the way to let what I assume to be a drunk driver pass, they rammed into the back of my car. In what felt like an instant, I lost control of my car, went off the road and crashed into a barn!

Everything seemed blurry and a lot of smoke was coming from the car. I knew that wasn't good and with my head pounding, I managed to take off my seatbelt and get out of my car, but after taking a few steps I passed out as I saw farmers running up to me and the wreckage.

I woke up to the sound of a faint noise, I slowly opened my eyes... much to my shock, I was in a hospital room. I looked around the room confused realizing I'm in an hospital bed with treated cuts and bruises going up my arms. The faint noise was coming from outside my hospital room.

My body was sore. I didn't remember much of what happened except my car going off the road. I grabbed my room remote on the tray by my bedside and pressed the nurse button. It wasn't long before there was a knock on the door as it opened. A middle-aged doctor who looked like he was going through a mid-life crisis walked in.

"Ah, you finally woke up Kyle. I'm, Doctor Mosley," he said in an upbeat tone, "Do you remember anything?" He asked.

"No, not really. What... what happened?" I asked. The doctor started checking his charts.

"You were involved in a car crash just outside of town. A drunk driver rammed your car... I tell ya, that Baldwin boy is always nothing, but trouble. Don't worry, the authorities are dealing with him."

As the doctor reminded me of what happened, I started to regain memory of the incident.

"I remember crashing into a barn... some farmers were rushing over to the scene..." I said out loud.

"Yes, the Marley family. They were working on the ranch when you crashed and they got you away from the car and called 911. They are good people..." he said, putting his putting his chart down on the tray, "Considering the circumstances, you should be glad that you only have a cuts and bruises."

"How long was I out, doctor?" I asked, remembering why I was going on the road trip in the first place.

"Two days, Kyle," he said, my eyes opened wide in shock, "When the paramedics brought you in, you had a mild concussion and a few minor injuries."

"It's Monday! No I... I was suppose to be going to a Sci-Fi Con in Las Vegas...", before I could finish, the doctor laughed cutting me off.

"You can forget about that Sci-Fi Con. You're not going anywhere for the rest of the week. We're keeping you here to monitor you," he said.

"You don't understand, doctor. I've been planning this trip for a year."

"Your health is more important than a Sci-Fi Con. Besides, your car was towed anyway..."

I sighed, giving up my fight. I knew the doctor was right and besides there was no use putting up a struggle since my car was wrecked.

"Um... where am I anywhere?" I asked curiously.

"Oh, you're in Goldville. A small, but prosperous town. Fun fact, you're the first outsider we've had at this hospital in a while, you're the talk of the hospital." He said, laughing.

I never even heard of Goldville and it wasn't even on the map. It was one of those small towns that you would drive by without a second thought.

"I gotta call my mom, she's probably worried out of her mind that it's been two days since I called her," I said, I knew after she found out what happened this would be the last road trip she would ever let me go on.

"No need, Kyle. When you were first brought here, we gathered your information and got in contact with your mother. She came to town the next day, she's staying at the local hotel. She only left your bedside, so she could check in and all..."

"Was she freaked?" I asked, even though I knew the answer.

"Very... I'll tell you what, I'll give her a call and tell her that you woke up..." the doctor said, just as my mother barged into my hospital room.

"Oh, honey the nurses told me that you woke up." She said, rushing to my bedside, "How are you feeling?"

"Sore and what happened is a little fuzzy," I said.

"That's normal with what happened. The medication we're giving you will help with the soreness and your memory of the incident should come back over the next couple of days or so," the doctor said, as he picked up my chart and added something in it, "Ma’am, as I informed your son we are going to keep him here for the week to monitor him. Do you mind if we talk outside about a few other matters?"

My mother looked at me with intense worry.

"It's okay mom, you can go." I said, reassuring her.

"It'll only take a second ma'am. It's just some forums that need to be signed. While, we're doing that I'll have one of the nurses do a check-up on your son."

My mother nodded. The doctor patted me on the shoulder. I flinched due to my soreness.

"I’ll be checking back with you in the morning. The day staff will be leaving in a few to switch out with the night shift. Don't try to overdo it in movements tonight, Kyle." He said, closing my chart.

I nodded. With that the doctor walked over to the door and my mother reluctantly followed. As my mother walked out, the doctor turned back around.

"And Kyle..."

"Yes, Doctor Mosley?" I asked.

"The night shift will take good care of you now, I guarantee it..." he said as he nodded and walked out the room.

I raised an eyebrow. Something about the way the doctor said that made me wary. What did he mean by that?

Shortly after my mother and Doctor Mosley left my hospital room, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in!" I shouted.

The door opened and redheaded nurse came in and walked over to me, all smiles.

"How are you feeling, Kyle?" She asked me in a country ascent.

"Um, okay I guess," I replied. In all honesty, I was having trouble focusing after laying me eyes on the sexy redhead nurse. She's in her mid-thirties and a curvy hourglass figure, her nurse shirt spread taut against her big tits that were hidden away in her unrevealing nurse uniform she was wearing.

"That's good," the nurse said warmly, "You were passed out good, when you arrived here,".

I nodded.

"So, I've heard..." I replied.

"I'll just check a couple of things, to inform the night shift coming in," the sexy redhead nurse said, holding up one of her tools. It was a magnifying tool with a small light on the end of it. The nurse moved to the side of my hospital bed and checked my eyes with the tool. When she was up close I almost forgot to breath as she came closer to me. I could smell her perfume and her big breasts so close to me, it started causing a stir under my hospital gown.
