A wave of dark energy has swept through the (Fictional) multiverse. Warping everything and everyone at a fundimental level, without any of them even realising what is happening. Histories are altered, species changed, even the very laws of physics themselves are twisted at the foundations. Some changes are gradual and manifest over time. Others are instantaneous in their effects. Some even change the very past itself, possibly altering history in the process, or even changing the course of evolution, or perhaps nether.
