The Goon House

*Knock Knock Knock* Sounded on the quiet suburban street as the young man shifted his heavy bags from his shoulder and onto the front balcony. Walking up the few steps to the pristine, white house in the richer neighbourhood had been a bit of a task for the knocker as despite playing football (soccer to you disgraceful americans) making him toned and fit, it didn’t exactly lend itself to heavy lifting. As he waited, he looked around to the nearby homes as the afternoon sun shone down on their well-groomed lawns, perfectly trimmed hedges, and an almost uncomfortable level of greenery, ‘gee this neighbourhood is nice. I don’t mind sharing with a few if I get to live here’ he thought to himself just as he heard the door open.

“Ah hi! You must be Justin <-Customizable Name<- I’m Trell, its nice to meet ya” putting out his hand to shake, Justin took in the fit looking ‘Trell’ in his light baggy shirt and loose basketball shorts. Justin wasn’t much more professional with a pair of simple blue jeans and a well fitted white polo. As the handshake ended, he couldn’t help but catch a strange whiff of something. It was sweet but salty. Familiar but he couldn’t quite pinpoint it. It was almost like the smell coming from the house was….. “So bro let me help you with your things, I’ll show you to your new digs. You’ll like it here. The place is real big and there’s a TV in every room. Each of us that moved here brought a couple of our own and we figured why not set them all up?”

“Oh cool. That’ll make catching the game way easier and you wont even miss anything when you go to the kitchen for refreshments.” Justin replied taking a look around the entrance room. The home was indeed luxurious with dark oak wood floors, a well carved banister running up the side of the stairs and the walls a pristine white. In the atrium it looked like there were a few directions Justin could choose to go.

“Watching what? Oh yeah right…watching game and things. I saw on your Facebook you play soccer. Yeah should be good for that too I guess.” Trell said after the small fumble about the game. Justin was a bit puzzled by the answer but didn’t think too much of it.

“Yeah I’ve played football for a few years now. Keeps me fit.”

“That’s good man, that’s good.” Trell answered idly. “Hey were all really happy to have you here. You have no idea how hard it was to find someone ok with a communal bedroom. You wouldn’t believe it judging from the size of this place considering it’s got a theatre, library, dining room, huge kitchen and pool area but its only got one huge bedroom. We looked up the history and apparently this place was built by single rich guy who was an extreme introvert. He occasionally threw huge parties on the few occasions he felt lonely. Leads to an awesome house, but very few bedrooms”

“Yeah I thought that was a bit different, but I’m open to new things and a heavy sleeper too”

“That’s why we picked you my dude. I hope you don’t mind but we did a little Facebook and Instagram stalking before we accepted your application. We needed to know you were the right fit and we’re all super happy with you. None of us want you to feel nervous about moving in with a houseful of other dudes you’ve never met.”

“Thanks man, I appreciate it. And I don’t mind at all about the stalking. You needed to make sure I wasn’t some freak haha”

Placing his bags down in the entrance for a quick break, Justin glanced around at the few different archways to different rooms.

“You can follow me up to the beds now or I totally don’t mind if you want to just have a look around the house first and we can meet back here in a bit to carry your stuff up.”
