The Lands without Men

The Island continent of Lemuria isn’t of this earth. It lays in the ocean of the red currents in the southern hemisphere. It looks like a dart board target with forest and city islands forming circular bands with three kilometer water ways forming the lines between the sections and the radials towards the center of the land mass. In the center is an island castle city surrounded by a moat. Each of the segments of the land has it’s own settlement. The cities and villages are reminiscent of archaic European and American colonial villages and cities. Almost all of the settlements are along the coast and the interior of the land sections are either farms or forests. Each of the water ways is open for boats to transverse.

Walking the streets and of these towns and cities it seems at first glance to be populated by humans… they aren’t. Rather they look very much like humans but with some differences, they are taller. The shortest adult is over two meters tall. Their ears are longer and their hair colors are more brightly colored and in different hues than you would expect walking down a historical European or American street that some of the villages resemble. Looking closer, you would notice that all the inhabitants appear to be women. But it is curious that the taller are the nobles while the middle group of women are commoners and the shortest adults are held in bondage (both metaphorically meaning they are slaves and literally as none are seen in public unless collared and leashed at the very least). A look inside the homes reveals an astonishing truth… the Familiars, who are the women in bondage are actually the “Men” of the race. Their bodies are entirely female save for their genitals which are very much human male. The Familiars are in our terms, Shemales. They are owned first by their mother’s and sisters and then are bought by the family of those who will become their wife’s and mistress for the rest of their lives. Familiars are kept docile and submissive to women at all points in their lives via various enchantments on their jewelry and bindings purchased from alchemists.

Any discussion of the fashions on the streets must be held off while a word is had on the technology of Lemuria. It is said under the capital castle city of R’lyeth there are two demons trapped in massive crystals and it is these things and their magic that provide the power for the alchemist machines across Lemuria, from the lights on the city streets to the machines that are used to make fabrics and material far in advanced of what a sail powered society should have. As such they are able to make and work with plastics and latex much sooner than one would expect. While they do not have things we would consider modern like cell phones of firearms, they do have zippers, stretch fabrics and food preserving containers and machines.

Another point to be discussed before talking about the fashions of Lemuria is the religion of the people. Considering that the royal castle city keeps two massive demons in it’s basement as power for it’s arcane magics, belief in demons in the mortal world is justified. In legends and religious text Demons are attracted to the soft skin and fair hair of the Lemurians. Some will even take the form of “bugs in the hair” of a Lemurian and tempt them do evil… This is part of why Lemurians wear head and hair coverings like Dark ages throw twelve hundreds European women did.

The Next point that needs to be understood is the social hierarchy of Lemuria… It is a feudal society with the Queen at the top and the women of the ruling Royal house are princesses. The leaders of Royal houses out of favor are a Princess and the other women are Duchesses. Behind the Royal houses are the Noble houses, with the woman leading the house being a Margrave and the other women in the house being a Countess and then the ladies in charge of towns and cities are Baronesses. After them are the Free Born women and then the Familiars. Even Familiars from royal houses have no place to speak out of turn and are treated as property to their wives, mothers or sisters.

The Fashions of the Lemuria are a hybrid of what we would consider normal today and what was normal in Western Europe during the Dark to Middle Ages. At the most fundamental level there are the Sumptuary Laws. Only the Sitting Queen was allowed to wear Royal Purple and the elegant of noble dress and accessories. Down the line simpler decorations are allowed. At the most basic level the common dress for a Lemurian no matter their status or place as a woman or familiar, is the Kirtle, a stretchy two or one piece full body covering garment that reached from the neck to the wrist and ankles over which is worn a dress of some kind along with shoes and a hair covering that will also cover their elven ears. At the simplest level a cheap kirtle of grey or off white made from linens and stretching fibers is worn with a simple drab tunic dress, plain shoes and a head scarf covering their hair and ears. A simple trim of grommets or studs with simple braiding might trim the cuff and hem of the tunic dress. As you go higher, stretch leather, shining vinyl and latex is made available as are heeled boots of increasing heights and tight fittings. Princesses are expected to be clad in latex kirtles with highly tailored Parti Cotehardie mini-dresses. A trend that comes in and goes in the noble houses is to dress your family’s familiars in Poulaines with exaggeratedly long toe point to indicate the length of their sex organs.

All the people use a form of currency called Silver Sovereigns, or Sovereigns. The one throw fifty are minted in silver coins. And hundreds denominations are printed on slips of synthetic paper.

Now, in these lands let us look into the lives of these unique people.
