The Lost World

[Authors Note]

More than sixteen years ago I began contributing to a story called Amazon Women by augy6666.

While I truly respect the story that augy6666 and so many of the other contributors have created, I want more creative control over the story I am trying to tell and have decided to branch off from that story. Many of the early chapters you will read in The Lost Worlds are heavily modified versions of chapters that I wrote for the original story.

To address any concerns of plagiarism, only my content has been brought over to this story.

I hope you enjoy the story. If you have any feedback or constructive criticism, feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a DM.

**** This story is a living breathing thing. I will frequently update chapters if I’m not happy with verbiage, consistency, tense, and all that good stuff.

[Prologue]

You remember falling and the hard ground rushing up to meet you, then... nothing.

You groan and clutch the back of your head. Everything seems to be in one piece, but you feel pretty banged up and are more than likely concussed.

'How the hell did I get here?' you think to yourself, slowly trying to coax your battered body off of the cold stone floor.

You groan and collapse back down, too tired and sore to even contemplate moving. As you lay there in the darkness you start to piece together the events that led you to this point.

You are an archeologist specializing in ancient Mayan cultures.

You had been exploring some ancient ruins under the El Castillo temple in Chichen Itza, Mexico as part of a dissertation on extinct and forgotten cultures. Legends spoke of an ancient race of female warriors that had invaded Maya nearly 3300 years ago in around 1300 BCE.

The women had appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, and had very nearly wiped out the Mayan people. It had only been a combination of superior organization and a fair amount of luck that the ancient Mayans had been able to push the invaders back and defeat them in a brutal war of attrition.

Physical evidence had been nearly impossible to find, it was almost as if the Mayans had tried to wipe out all trace of the invaders, but after nearly three years of research and thousands of hours of interviews with locals, you'd found your way here, where it all began.

With a groan, you open your eyes and push yourself off the ground. Darkness. You panic for a moment, but in the distance, you see a sliver of light. You must have fallen through the floor of the ruins into some sort of secret passage.

Steadying yourself against the wall you climb to your feet and stumble towards the light.

You breathe a sigh of relief. The lighting through a narrow passage in the wall of the cave. It's partially collapsed and it'll be a tight fit but it's big enough for you to squeeze through.

Desperately wanting to get out of the ruins and back to your hotel, you squeeze through the passage as carefully as possible, trying not to hurt yourself or worse, bring the whole thing down on you. After what seems like an eternity you step out of the passage into the sunlight.

As your eyes adjust to the light you take in your surroundings, this looks nothing like the Mayan Ruins you'd be exploring just a short time ago. In fact, it doesn't even look like Mexico.

Where the hell are you?
