The Metamorph

There are a number of Earth-like planets in our galaxy. While they generally follow the same developmental path physically, the humanoids that reside on them may follow any number of different paths socially, physiologically, emotionally, etc. This is the story of one of those other planets. The natives call it Trigen. Why is it called Trigen? Well, that is not a simple question to answer. The answer is simple enough; they have three genders, but the answer involves soooo much more than simply that. The people of Trigen are humanoid and, as such, are very much like us here on Earth. There are some distinct difference, however. For one thing, the third gender is actually not a single gender. You see, the only way that Trigens can reproduce is to mate with what they call The Polymorph. The Polymorph is the only Trigen capable of producing sperm or eggs. The Polymorph is a hermaphrodite, but not all the time. The Polymorph is functionally genderless most of the time. When it comes time for The Polymorph to mate with someone, the other person's gender and sexual preference influence The Polymorph's gender.

This means that when it is time for The Polymorph to perform hir function, shi shifts to whichever gender the other person prefers based on that person's sexuality and personal gender. In other words, when mating with a lesbian, The Polymorph shifts to being a female. When mating with a homosexual male, The Polymorph shifts to being a male. The Polymorph, of course, assumes an opposite gender for heterosexuals. While in a specific gender The Polymorph uses the appropriate gender for hirself. Now, you may be wondering how a lesbian or male could possibly be mated. Trigens do not limit pregnancy to females. They also do not require male and female to reproduce. This is fortunate for them since, as stated before, they are incapable of reproducing without The Polymorph.

The Polymorph does spend a lot of time mating with the other Trigens. That does not mean, however, that The Polymorph never does anything else. After all, Trigen males and females have a heat cycle like most mammals on Earth. The Trigen heat cycle lasts roughly three months during the spring. Since Trigen orbits its sun at the same speed and distance as Earth, the planet has the same day/year cycle as Earth. It also has the same seasons as Earth. (Author's Note: You should see Trigen summer. Hehe. It's wild, man.) During the other 9 months each year Trigens still have some sexual desire. it is just not enough to cause them to seek out The Polymorph. Since The Polymorph has a life span of roughly 2.5 times that of other Trigens, The Polymorph is able to fuck every Trigen on the planet. Since no birth results in another Polymorph as long as the current Polymorph is alive, the extended life span of The Polymorph results in a very large number of males and females being born and only one Polymorph birth. It has been this way for millions of years.

During the heat cycle for the Trigens, the pheromone production of the average Trigen increase significantly. This triggers a change in The Polymorph. Shi begins to exhibit gender in preparation for the mating season. this usually involves the expression of hir gender organs externally and the activation of hir internal reproductive organs. Since Trigens do not wear clothing this is often hard (if not impossible) to miss. Now, the average Trigen is NOT a virgin by any means. They simply lack the ability to reproduce with mono-gender Trigens. Genetically, this is because they are incompatible with the DNA of other mono-genders. functionally, it is because, without The Polymorph, the average Trigen simply cannot achieve orgasm. They cum, but it lacks any semen.

All that being said, there are three Trigens whose stories can be followed.

Jane; a 20-something college student who is working on her degree in interplanetary relations.
John; a 36-year-old, out of work man with several underutilized degree involving computers.
Alex; an 18-year-old high school graduate who has just finished their training in mating.

Which one do you want to follow? You could of course get a more in-depth view of the planet on which these people live. If you like, you can also look at an average day in the life of a Trigen.
