When the veil between worlds was torn open, literally all hell broke loose: Creatures from every mythology textbook and sweaty anime fanboy's sketchpad invaded earth looking for human victims to fuck and enslave. With a combination of folk magic and conventional weapons, humanity beat them back, but the open rift **** both sides into an awkward stalemate.

That was before you graduated high school. Last month the government announced a peace treaty between the world of humans and monsters, and part of the agreement was that both sides would send "representatives" from all walks of life to learn more about each other, including college students. You were initially considering going to college in your own world, but the money being offered for anyone brave enough to study in the monster world had more zeroes than you could count without taking off your shoes, so you'd be set for several lifetimes once you got back, even with an arts degree!
