The world of Adien is a fantasy world without magic where many races exist alongside one another, they mainly consist of the prime races and the beta races - these are races that hold humanoid intelligence and instincts, such as working together and mobilizing armies. However only the prime races are capable of advanced and coherent speech, economy, advanced tactics and governance of towns and the engineering ability to build castles. The beta races are more bestial and primal, often living in caves or in primitive huts, their language limited to grunts or just pure body language and gestures.

The many races have deep and impacting relationships with one another, some bad and some good, almost all races are vying for power and the title of the master race, which at the current start of the story has been held by the humans for ~700 years, for as long as history has been recorded. 200 years before the story starts, the Orcs and some of the beta races rose up to challenge the Humans, and started raiding and pillaging hamlets, villages and towns, slaughtering them all without mercy.

The primal races:
Humans; the most populated race of them all. and by far the greediest. They are a race that specialize in commerce and tactics above all else, their aggression and military activities have earned themselves the title of the master race from the war 200 years ago, as they hold the most land and have the largest military.

Orcs were once the most populated race of them all, they were feared for their gorilla warfare and tactics, but weren't the smartest of races, nor were they the most equipped for battle. However they made up for this in sheer body strength and ferocity, and the invaluable additional detail that allows them to understand even the language of the beta species.

Elves are indisputably the smartest of the prime races, however their intelligence has lead them to seclusion from most worldly events and as such is their biggest vulnerability. Despite this, their use of the bow and arrow is also unrivaled.

Harpies are not the smartest bunch, smarter than the orc males of old by a long shot but would now be considered the least intelligent race. They more than make up for it with their ability to fly and the unique tactics only available to airborne combatants.

Dwarves are industrious people and are known to have created some of the best weaponry and architecture the world has ever seen, had it not been for their impervious castles and anti siege weaponry, surely a people as thinly populated would not have withstood for so many years. (They aren't the stubbly dwarves you might be thinking of, just imagine smaller humans, almost like hobbits)

The Anu are an ancient race, said to be one of the first primal races to have walked the earth, they are a cat-like humanoid species, with full anthropomorphic features except for the fact they are covered in a short coat of fur, have tails and are much more lithe than the other races, they are known for their assassins and thieves, the rest of the continent considers them savages due to their pagan beliefs and open class system.

Darkin some scholars speculate are the first primal race, they're humanoid in shape but have horns protruding from their foreheads, and are pitch black in coloration with minute variance among individuals. They're a reclusive race who don't steer away from their conservative traditions, and although not hostile to other races, have absolutely no intent of playing nice, especially humans. Not much is known about the Darkin culture due to their zero tolerance to outside forces.

The Beta Races:

That brings us onto the beta races, such as the Goblins, a race that has withstood the test of time purely based on its rapid ability to reproduce and it's constant attacks on humanoid (prime) races to gather resources.****

Minotaurs are cave dwelling creatures and gather in small tribe like groups for safety, are often known for their in fighting, and while they have the body of a man they act more beast than man, unreasonable and violent to a fault.

Leviathans are a coastline race, half human and half aquatic monster, they are a solitary race but have been known to work together to hunt trade and fishing ships. They are violently territorial even among their own kind, but serve little threat to land dwellers so long as they remain as such.

Gorgonians are a half snake and half human type species, like all other beta races they are unable to communicate, however due to sharing land with the elves they have learnt from their ruling neighbors the art of the bow and arrow to a respectable degree, earning them the title of the most intelligent beta species.

The Great War
The great war for supremacy happened 200 years before this story starts, the war began after the Orcs, in an attempt to dethrone the humans who have existed as the master race for over 500 years before recorded history, and failed. The orcs conscripted the Goblins, the Minotaurs and the Gorgonians to fight for them against the humans, who only had the dwarves to help them as the two are very close allies. The war was bloody and both sides lost heavy casualties, in a final and earth shattering blow, the humans marched on the Orc capitol with Dwarven siege weapons where a last defense against the Orc genocide took place, the humans slaughtered every last Orc they could get their hands on leaving none alive, and only rumors and wives tales tell of the remaining Orc women retreating down into the earth through the various caves in the orc territory, also known as the Grey land. Ever since that day, Humans have controlled the Grey land and have populated the many towns and villages with their kind.

If you were hoping for pure politics and a focus on combat and race relations then I must disappoint you, this is mostly going to be a story about smut and the depravity of another world and the "shortcomings" of all the different races.
