It emerged after the fact that the object was spotted on long range telemetry roughly two days before impact. However, due to its small size the threat was deemed negligable... It would probably burn up in the atmosphere before impact. After the calculated period radar did indeed detect a small meteoroid enter and disintergrate in the stratosphere. Little or no debris reached the surface and the incident was soon catalogued and forgotten.

After only a few short weeks over 99% of the worlds male population were dead. The object had brought with it an alien contaminent which manifested as an uncontrolable virus. The symptoms barely registered, death was swift but painless. Those men with a certain genetic quirk were spared the fate of their fellows. You were one of those men.

In hastily convened sessions of the united nations new female delegates discussed the ramifications of the virus. It was clear that without direct intervention the human race would surely be decimated, if not destroyed all together. The human male had now become a valuable resource, and measures were now taken to protect each countrys supply. Men, though not technicly property would now be tightly controlled. They would still have limited freedom, but only within the confines of new facilities. The best food and creature comforts were provided for them, but with an expectation.

Through careful selection methods a new breeding program was implemented. Females from the age of 18 are carefully vetted for general health and proven intelligence or skills. Those chosen are paired with men until pregnancy occurs.
