The Silver Door

I still remember very well the last words of my, unfortunately ex girlfriend last night, while she gave me yet another slap. She and I have not been together for over a year, since she dumped me because according to her, I was a coward. I didn't have the balls, she always said. But I still love her, and have since tried over and over to win her back. It always ended badly, always with her wishing me the worst things and slapping me. Also last night, when she yelled at me: "YOU ARE REALLY USELESS! COWARD! NO BALLS! Do you really want to be with me? Well, PROVE ME that you are a man! See you in the morning, at the Silver Gate!"

The Silver Gate, a gothic nightclub, I've never been to. She frequented it often, she and all her dark friends who were interested in that weird, gothic stuff. I never went there, but not because it scared me, I just found it stupid. But now I'm here, in front of the door of the club, ringing the bell. It's sunny, it's morning, the place should be closed and empty. Maybe that's why she invited me here ... I'm still thinking, when the door swings open, automatic lock. I enter, looking around, and I ask timidly "Is anyone there?"

The place is dark, the shutters are down and is lit only by a dim candlelight. I look around and enter, receiving no response, hearing no sound beyond my footsteps. The door closes behind me, and when I turn quickly to look at it, a person slips behind me. I gasp, I take a step back while I observe the woman who has just appeared: tall, thin, with an extremely pale complexion and raven black hair, she seems to have defined shapes, under a long black dress with a high collar.

"You must be Eric, right? I've been waiting for you. They told me you're here to go through the Silver Door ... follow me."

The voice is dark, sweet but grim, as he turns, as if it were a ghost, to the left, walking to what appears to be a large closet. I'm about to answer her, asking "But the Silver Door, isn't this place?" when she opens the closet, revealing a huge glittering mirror. The glass does not reflect images, but a strange mass of colored reflections. Surely there is some optical trick, and I go over to check.

"So Eric are you ready to prove that you are a real man? This Magic Door will take you to faraway worlds, where you can experience numerous adventures. You will risk, you will risk a lot. a rich and brave hero, and no woman will ever say no to you. " His voice is convincing, slow, confident. His icy gaze scans me from top to bottom. I look at her, then I look at the mirror ... I reach out to touch it, and in fact it is inconsistent, it just looks like a beam of light ... I look at the woman "You're lying, aren't you? It's just a mockery?"

She in response, just says "Then she was right: you have no balls" and turns away, looking away from me. Wounded in pride, I shot through the light barrier, proving my courage, expecting to end up in an adjacent room. Instead, a whirlwind of colored lights envelops me, and slowly, mine as it wanders in a kind of dream, while I pass out.

Too late the woman utters words that I will never hear: "Yes, I lied to you in part.
