You walk in through the large doors of the tavern. You have been travelling for days after hearing about a strange cult dedicated to conjuring and binding a god from their plane to the mortal one. You are a travelling summoner who has a thing breaking in summoned creatures. Breaking a god would be your greatest accomplishment. Of course, after the god is summoned, those cultists probably have prices on their heads as well.

You look around the tavern. You see a man in black robes at a desk with 2 strong looking bodyguards, a tavern whore giggling with a very touchy-feely dwarf, the inn keeper behind her bar, and a mercenary in the corner.
