The Trickster's Gift

Okay, but really - gods exist.

Small g. If you believe in the big G type, then I can't prove it nor disprove it. Live your life the way you feel is right, no problem.

But below the Absolute, but far, far above us mortals, exist certain unusual beings. Are they good? Are they evil? Well, most of the time, they are just alien and they keep to themselves. Every few millenia, they start some shit, and that's how we have mythology. Even if they do interact with mortals, they are often very weird about certain rules they keep to.

And one such interaction is the inciting incident of our story.

There is a certain being we can call the Trickster. It's as good of a title for him as any. Or her. See, they aren't just one thing - the Trickster is as much a man as a woman, as much a human as an animal, as good as they're evil, you know the drill. Liminal, shapeshifting, everything-fluid being. And the Trickster loves fucking around with humanity with their ability to shapeshift.

Well, this is the story of how the Trickster went down to Earth in one of their many guises and gave some mortals a bit of an ability to shapeshift. Just for fun. And here are some ground rules on which they went about that:

  1. The power cannot be just "shapeshifting". It would fry a mortal. It has to be limited to something - size, sex/gender, turning people into animals, even just boob size. Clearly defined substet of transformation powers.

  2. Three people have to get this power at once. No more, no less. It should keep the whole mortal frying thing to the minimum. And three's a magic number. Besides, the drama unfolding would be juicy to watch.

  3. The empowered people can transform others by just willing it to happen. They can say it out loud or make a gesture if they're a scatterbrain. Any of the trio can return the enchanted mortal to normal.

  4. The empowered people can use powers on themselves...

  5. ...but not on each other, unless two of them decide to transform the third. They have to decide on the exact transformation and cast it together (up to them how they accomplish that). Their will must be in perfect sync. The enchanted third cannot bring themself back to normal, and again must be transformed back by the other two.

  6. If one of the trio dies, all of them lose their power, and anyone transformed becomes stuck. No problem, because the Trickster will pull some strings to keep the show going as long as it can. So the trio can expect sudden lucky saves.

Let's follow our trio...
