She looks at you with those pretty blue eyes. The confusion and pain on her face stabs you with guilt for what you have just said to her. You feel like the biggest asshole in the world.

"But I don't understand," she says in a cracked voice, and you can see the tears are going to start coming soon. "I thought you loved me!"

Fuck. This sucks. As many times as you've broken up with girls before, you'd think you'd be used to it by now. But it's always a shitty feeling when you have to reveal what an unfeeling prick you really are to someone.

"I'm sorry, Amy," you say, and then before you can stop yourself you bring out the worst line ever. "It's not you, it's me."

The tears come now, dripping down her innocent face as she casts her eyes down and her body heaves. All you can do is sit there, staring awkwardly at her, saying, "I'm sorry."

After a very uncomfortable minute, she gets her crying under control. She wipes her face with the back of her hand, looks back up at you, and says the words that will change everything.

"I'll do anything you want, Elliot. Whatever it takes to keep you."

You give her what you hope is a sympathetic look as you slowly shake your head. Amy is beautiful and lovely, but the simple fact is she's far too innocent and normal for you. The sexual fantasies that swirl around your sick head are things that you could never speak to her. She would be horrified and disgusted -- rightly so, because your fantasies are completely twisted. As much as it was a cliche, you were right: it's not her, it's you.

"I mean it," she says a little louder. "I'll do anything. I love you, Elliot. Whatever it takes. Please?"

Is it possible, you wonder. Could she really do whatever it takes to keep you? Well, why not? Why not tell her what you want? Worst comes to worst, she thinks you're a freak, on top of already thinking you're an asshole for breaking her heart.

You take a deep breath, exhale loudly, and tell her just what it'll take.
