X-Men: Brides of Death

The past week had been a rough one for Gambit, to say the very least.

First there was the fact that damn near everyone he knew telling him about Rogue making out with Deadpool, then he had to deal a Mystique related attack (not an uncommon thing, but she really seemed to enjoy sticking the knife in that his relationship with Rogue was pretty much dead and buried), then there was some breakup drama with some of the students that pretty much engulfed the entire student body which led to him being stuck with a group of students more interested in gossip over sex ed and finally he found himself in the grasp of a new villain, one who never actually revealed their name to him, nor did they ever explain their motives.

The person had to power to control Gambit's body which kept him from escaping.

He'd been tortured and kept awake for a little over 72 hours before he blacked out.

When he woke up he was in the med bay with no memory of how he got there.

No one would say much other than they found his kidnapper completely dismembered and Remy passed out.

It seemed like almost everyone was walking on egg shells when he was around as a result of what they had found.

Something had happened but he wasn't sure what.

In truth, no one did, but they were all sure Gambit had something to do with it, which, given the teams issues with trusting him, was gonna make life much worse for him.

Remy hated the way they were acting around him and that compounded another problem that had recently shown up.

Death

Remy had once been Death, Apocalypse most feared Horseman.

It had cost him everything and, in order to get rid of it, he sought out the help of Mister Sinister.

As it turned out, Sinister could only suppress the monster inside Gambit.

A trip to limbo brought it back out.

He thought that he'd been finished with Death after he'd been defeated in Limbo, but ever since his kidnapping, he could feel Death grow inside of him.

He could feel that darkness in him rising again.

And he didn't know if he couldn't stop it on his own.

He wanted to get help and fast, but he wasn't sure who to go to, mainly because, just like the team didn't trust him,. he didn't trust the team.
One wrong step and he was sure he'd be out on his ass.

But he was sure there had to be someone that could help him without telling anyone else what was going on.

It was just a matter of finding that person.

He knew it was a search that would take time.

That left him with plan B: he could try to figure out a way to stop Death by himself.

Remy had always been a cleaver person, and that allowed him to think outside the box.
Maybe that was what he needed to stop Death.

He knew he had a choice to make, and it was a crucial one.
